I have kept my MDX (bought new) for over 11 years. Loved the car, unfortunately after hitting 130K miles, I had to replace my transmission. I also had issues with the heat shield for the catalytic converter (on 2 occasions). That said, while I generally like the car/brand, I believe they are behind on the interior technology that they provide (compared to other companies that introduced contemporary tech faster). Nothing epitomizes their reluctancy to lead technologically like the fact that Acura is releasing a 2022 model car which is traditionally ICE but no EV option. Ford, Rivian, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Lucid, Hyundai, jaguar and most importantly Tesla have a strong EV strategy in *2021* . In some cases, these companies are on their second or third model release (hence refining their tech and learning from prior mistakes). Honda and toyota are sticking with old technology which (for people like me that keep a car for 10+ years) will be left with faster devaluation of their cars as the industry transitions quickly towards EV cars (which will all meet/exceed 300+ miles range in 2021+ models). Over the next 10 years, you can expect countries and states to mandate the change to electric (most european countries have set 2028 or 2030). And the prices of the new EVs are getting lower (even before considering the ability to charge at home and in some cases qualify for tax rebate). Bottom line, I cannot understand the resistance of Honda/Acura to release compelling EV options for its customers in 2021. They are handing over the market to more progressive companies.

The A-Spec is already $60k. The GV80 2.5 AWD with Prestige package is just under $65k. The GV80 2.5 AWD with Advanced package is around $60k so i don't think the MDX stacks up very well against it. In fact even the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy has just about everything the MDX A-Spec has and even quite a bit more (HUD, 360 camera, thigh cushion extender, heated and ventilated second row, heated steering wheel, power reclining and folding third row with USB, smart liftgate) and a comparable quality interior but a better roomier third row, comparable power and fuel economy and 3 years of complimentary maintenance for about $11k less...

Sorry to tell you The MDX doesn’t stack up Genesis.
@2001COUPE3 жыл бұрын
@@OlJackBurton HAHAHAHAHA we will see, Genesis like there parent company are nice looking pieces of crap. Cheap plastic engine components , horrible powertrians that catch on fire and recalls straight from the factory before they were even shipped abroad. Acura will definitely stand up against Genesis for starters I like purchasing my Luxury vehicle from an actual Luxury dealership and not having my 60k GV80 on the showroom floor beside a 12k Hyundai Accent. Good luck trying to draw in Mercedes, BMW and Lexus buyers to the Hyundai dealer for there next ride. Actual car buyers that do there research will understand which vehicle will still be driving around issue free in 5 or more years and which one you'll need the gimmicky 100mile warranty for, that they don't tell you has a deductible every time you use it. Of course Genesis can come in at a lower price pint it called cutting cost, because a lot of there mechanical components are plastic and they use fake leather and imitation materials that look premium, but don't hold up . Go ask a Hyundai/Genesis service technician. I will stick with Honda and Toyota who still spare no expense on there engine components and don't need to offer a 100k warranty to get consumers to walk through the door because we already know there the best at what they do. We will see more of these MDX's on the road than the GV80 simply off of resale value alone which Genesis doesn't even come close to Acura or Lexus. If you go for the GV80 I suggest you lease it, because in 3-5 years when you want to switch it out for something newer your feelings are going to be extremely hurt. LOL

Great reviews again! I feel like Acura is that child that never gets enough attention but always bring straight A’s home. 😂 I am not a fan of red interior I feel it doesn’t age well. The center cluster where all the stereo controls are is way to cluttered and too much gloss black. Other than that it’s a solid SUV. I prefer the Genesis GV80 :)

I’d like this in a champagne color! Thank you Lori for handling that camera like the professional you are! Thanks Joe for bringing this one to so early! Successful showing us the differences! Thank you!

Unfortunately the A-Spec’s only come in red, black, silver, dark grey, white, red and blue! The regular new model MDX models come in black, white, silver, red, dark grey, dark blue, and dark purple!

This looks awesome. My complaint would be the gloss black as that stuff is so difficult to keep clean. It's such a pain but it looks sharp when it is clean.

YES!!! A thousand times...YES!!!! I think the competition better fasten their friggen seatbelts...actually, now that I think about it; Acura doesn’t have any competition!!! Their new Flagship is STELLAR...an awesome product for the $$. Great job Lori on all the awesome camera angles picking up on the beautiful character lines and personality of this vehicle.

Wow I am just speechless with this MDX. I think Acura nailed it this generation. Can’t wait for the driving aspect! Nice job keep up the amazing work with you and your wife. I can’t wait to see the Acura TLX Type S review! When do you think we will get this review in?

I really like what Acura is doing with their products lately! I would really love to see them bring back CL with the new TLX styling. I saw one of the new TLX's and you really don't appreciate how wide and low it is until you see it in person.

I like everything except the back, looks a little bubbly. Almost infinity-esque. Wish it looked just a little bit more rugged on the back.
