It’s a bad day for players who find themselves zeroed in by a battleship. The fact that they can’t effectively retaliate pushes players away. I’ve been in many matches where 3 or 4 of us are running battleships while the other team is nothing but cruisers. They need to decompress because it’s a Turkey shoot for top tier naval players.

I've found the weakpoint to be an issue in Newport News, what with how easy it is for the many ships at the tier that can rack her B-turret. She usually survives, but from there it won't be long till she dies. Her turrets are also quite vulnerable to guns of all caliber. I believe she gets the dual 3" guns, which were radar guided with VT fuse shells, so she's quite dangerous to planes and kamikaze. Sadly, Newport News' penetration is lacking compared to other ships. You see, they gave the Des Moines class' 8" guns, but with the same type of super heavy shells that the North Carolina, South Dakota and Iowa class battleships had. They were slow velocity, with a heavy punch. The high arc and ballistic energy would help punch right through the deck armor of anything short of a battleship, plunge into the machinery and cause major damage. In WT, however, the maps are just too small (and isn't it fun, to have everyone spawn in a tiny area) to take advantage of the ranged firepower. The DM heavy cruisers were the pinacle of US WW2 engineering, but like many American things in this game, they don't get the spotlight they deserve. Also, her fire control would be much better and faster...

The newport sits too high above the waterline which explains the weak ammo rack that it has. It also has a buggy damage model since it is extremely weak survivability compared to the Pittsburgh or even the Helena

3inch aa guns but the ship ship need other vessels that has bofors for cover from planes. Bots more annoyed and ruined the match nothing much to do

Twelve twin 76 mm automatic gun mounts and twelve twin 20 mm Oerlikon AA guns It's not nearly as good as the Baltimore or the Pittsburgh but it's much better than the two 3" guns the Newport News has!
