I really enjoyed your review of The Pillars of the Earth. If you enjoyed that series I highly recommended *The Gael Song by Shauna Lawless*. I am very intrigued to get the Black Company series. I am currently on the back end of Kian N. Ardalans Eleventh Cycle of the Mistland series. I can't wait for book 2. Thanks for creating the content you do, your father property / childhood home looks amazing. I live in Colorado and work at the foot of North Table Mtn, man I do appreciate nature and books. Keep on keeping on. ✌️ -JRoot

@@HowellingRoots thank you so much! Did you read the other books in the series too? I plan on doing a full in depth review of Pillars of the Earth at some point, since it is in my top 10 books. I will definitely check that book out sometime this year! Ok if I tag you in it when I do? I definitely want to take my family to Colorado at some point, especially once I get my son into skiing or snowboarding. I appreciate the views and comments! Let me know any other books you want me to check out!

@thesandersreview I will be adding the full 5 book series to my December reading 📚 TBR list and I plan on purchasing all 5 October 11th so I have them / will be ready to jump in after I finish my current 804 page banger of a book called Eleventh Cycle, then my spooky book Dreams of the Dying. As a pallet cleanser in between Grim Dark Fantasy I have taken up Dan Simmons Hyperion 4 book series. I'll be on book 2 after Eleventh Cycle. You man, you will really enjoy Colorado. I've grown up here my whole life and I've barely scratched the surface of The Rockies. I just bought some new Oboz hiking shoes and can't wait to hit the 👣 trail! :) Yeah, sure thing, tag me in it. I really enjoy 1) Petrik Leo's book reviews, 2) Mike's book reviews, 3) Wicked Good Books reviews, and I just found you as well as another top 5 solid source. Also, The Five Penalties 3 book series I am really looking forward to. Enjoy your life man. Keep reading, and enjoying nature. Salute, Na Zdravie and God Bless 🙌 🙏 -JRoot

Reread the first three as a mental cleanse after finishing. Second Apocalypse. Ironically BC predates wh40k. By modern standards it is pretty tame. Yes Shadows Linger is the best of the three. It is likely more highly rated by authors and older readers. More recent readers have difficulty with the prose. Apparently he wrote while qorking on an assembly line hence the short sentences and paragraphs. Erickson wrote the prologue to a recent reissue. Reaper's Gale is dedicated to Cook for obvious reasons and Cook has apparently said Erickson writes Cook better than he does. Dread Empire is also very good.

@@EricMcLuen thanks for the insights! Yes, it is pretty tame comparably, but when you look at how it was a big step forward in grimdark, it makes it more significant. I will have to check those other works out! Erickson is on my list for sure
