Thanks for your video, very enjoyable. Just over four years ago, my factory-original BMW (Alpine) stereo system (with in boot CD stacker) sadly 'died' here in Brisbane Australia. The local auto store put me onto the 'Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB' car radio. I have been more than happy with the unit, in fact delighted as it looks amazing in my 1996 BMW 318is E36 2 door coupe. The sound is really good, the DAB radio and the USB front and rear work a treat, the lights match perfectly (orange/red) and the unit's colour also matches the dash spot on. Yes it arguably is over-priced but because it compliments my E36 exactly and makes me feel good on the road, the investment was fine.

I bought this one for my 190E 2.5 16V and i will admit, this is the best retro style unit made, it fits in any 80s to 90s car so well and the quality is damn good. Just need tk get some better subs and speakers to make it perfect

@@AutoScholarwithMrB Get one, it's worth it. You could swap in a Getrag 265 manual trans in, its relatively easy. Allthough do swap the pedal box for a Tilton or AP Racing set, since the factory pedals are not the best feeling ones.

I feel you on the build quality and price i got a faulty one trying to get it replaced from blaupunk which has been an additional con id add their north America customer is based out of cali and im on the east so times are a pain and they are trying to help but resources seem minimal

I put this in my 93 M5 and it fit the vibe perfectly! I can’t quite remember how I set the colors but I was able to dial the orange/red to match like 95%. The plastic seems to match the E34 a bit more than it does the E30. The Bluetooth works great, connects to my phone automatically when I get in the car. I do think it’s a bit overpriced but honestly it’s the only clean option for a OEM+ build, I think that unless you knew exactly what this head unit was you’d never know it wasn’t original.

I think at $200-$250 this would be fine. How long have you had it?

⁠@@AutoScholarwithMrB it’s been about two+ years, I think it could be cheaper if they got rid of the DAB stuff that is specific to European market and just kept it to Bluetooth and am/fm. Switch it to USB-C to future proof it a bit, maybe even get crazy and make it a 20w charger. I will say my volume knob isn’t loose like that.

@@johnnyramone8051 my car came without a head unit In place unfortunately! I'm also in dire need of speakers, some owner before me did a messy job of wiring in some things, so that will all have to be done one of these days. I do feel like I made the right choice with this unit though, it's exactly what I would want it to be. Only thing I would change would be a dedicated bluetooth button, or at least that it would always default to the bluetooth input.

the jvc you removed can much the dash color 100% Also i believe you can softly tune the exact color

I'm considering getting the Blaupunkt essen 200 dab bt for my Saab 900 because it has the look, has a CD player and is half the price.

Consider Blaupunkt Stockholm 400. It makes sense to have the Swedish capital in a SAAB. :-D

The Frankfurt is the better option, imho. The LED colour indeed is a bit too weak, especially with sunlight. Sound quality is perfect.

That is what I am hearing as well. I think the Frankfurt would work well in an e36 design wise, but look a little off in an e30. That’s why I went with this one. Definitely having second thoughts about that. Thanks for your comment!

The main problem to me is that it sticks out and doesn't flush with the panel/dashboard. I was considering adding it to my 635CSi but gave up the idea because of that. Not worth the money at this point.

Man 6 series BMWs are so cool! I would love to have one someday.
