I love that it has a carburetor. If I want to change a part and it needs re-tuned I can do it with a screwdriver. I actually prefer not to have ABS also. Only electronic gizmo I like is cruise control if it's a bike I'm going to be riding longer distances to keep my hand from going numb.

Oh man I miss playing snake! I've had ABS, traction control, riders modes before on other bikes. It's ok but man I love my DRZ! The new Ducati supermoto has wheelie control and something called "slide by brake" basically it'll make a noob ride like a pro which doesn't interest me at all. I'm sure it's a hell of a bike (with a price tag to match) but it seems like all this technology is watering down the soul of riding if that makes sense.
@linksgarage19855 ай бұрын
It makes perfect sense. You have to be more in tune with what’s going on, on a hike with less technology. And I dig that. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
@quinteastwood87525 ай бұрын
Carburetors aren't that complicated. They kind of suck because they're always going to be a little bit off, maybe your air filter got dirty, or it's cooler or more humid. I remember my first FI bike, I was over the moon. Now I'm eyeing up the DRZ cause I can't justify waiting to save up for a KTM500...
@linksgarage19855 ай бұрын
Yea. You are correct. They’ll never be perfect. But if the end of the world happened, I’d rather have a dinosaur bike than an electrically controlled computer bike. 💪🏼good luck on your hike brother!

Same reason why I'm reluctant to upgrade my 2013 speed triple. Has nothing other than ABS and fuel injection. All the rest of the tech they've put on bikes in the last 10 years. Is completely unnecessary. And expensive to fix.

Great video as always! Quick question.. just wondering why you use premium fuel? I’ve read conflicting articles about only using low octane because of the carb etc. I’m just curious your thoughts.
@linksgarage19855 ай бұрын
Just something I’ve always done. Being carbureted or fuel injected wouldn’t have anything to do with your octane level. Carbs eat 87 just like 93. For me it’s more about detonation.
