Thanks for a great review. I am considering getting a Dyson V12 for our home (150 m2, all wooden/tiled floors). I am uncertain if the battery power is enough - it says up to 60 minutes but in real situations will often be less than that, I know. What is your experience - would I be able to vacuum our house of 150 m2 (1600 square feet) in your opinion? Also, can you just get a second battery to swop if needed (do you know if they are pricy)?

There is a run time that's relatively accurate on the top display of the vacuum. How much time depends on the setting (Eco, Med, Boost). On Med, it uses an auto setting based on how dirty your floor is (fancy, right?!), and it's usually around 35 minutes for me. I only vacuum a couple rooms at a time and it's more than enough battery (usually 25 to spare), but you may come up short if you want to do an entire house. The battery is built in and it attaches to a charger on the wall and a full charge from empty takes a few hours, so a second battery isn't an option. Hope this helps!

Yes! I’ve used it for quite a while and I have very long and thick hair. I haven’t had any problems with it getting tangled.

i am trying to decide between the V12 / V15 / GEN 5.........have a 2300 sq ft house ..mostly hardwood floors except one room is carpeted then a few area rugs around the house.......like the thought of being able to clean upper corners of the walls.....here in Canada the V12 is 899 V15 is 999 and the Gen 5 is 1199....all in Canadian funds....which do you think we would be happy with ? we are 58 years old and bodies are getting old and sore...lol..... thx cheers

Check out which ones have the trigger vs the on/off button. The v12 has an on/off button which is much better, otherwise your finger gets tired holding the trigger. The v12 will be the lightest. If you have mostly hard floors, I will go with the v12 based on weight and on/off. I get about 35 minutes of run time which is plenty of time for me. I don’t usually do the whole house at once, but I think I could. The canister doesn’t fill as fast with hard floors so you won’t have to empty it as often as with carpet. I use the attachments to vacuum the ceiling and really like it. It also works great on furniture and in the car. The gen 5 I believe has an extra battery which is not an option on the V12 or V12. If emptying the canister is annoying to you then you can get an outsize model, but it will be heavier. I like the size, weight, price, and usability of the v12, but I haven’t tried the others. I think they’re all great options!

Warning! No replacement battery for V12 seems to be available. I guess once the battery goes out you will have to replace the vacuum. This battery has been out of stock for at least a year. Did Dyson do this intentionally? We just purchased the vacuum but am disgusted because we cannot purchase a spare battery as Dyson recommends.

While it's running, there is a "count down" on the screen telling you how much time is left, and it changes based on the setting you're using. Mine usually lasts around 25 minutes, and it does take a few hours to fully charge. Is it worth the money? That's hard to answer. For me, hands down yes, I would spend the money all over again. I also have a couple friends that swear by their Dyson stick vacs. If you don't want to jump in that deep you may find a great deal on Black Friday or other big savings days like Amazon Prime Day.
