It is actually heating up. However, since the earth is flat, the extra water will fall off the sides. It's all fine!

daft2hans I think the reason why conservatives are stereotypically prone to denying it is due to the topic being too politicized. If it wasn't, we'd probably see more people through the political spectrum being for renewable energy sources. I know this because I used to be a denier and got my way out of that thinking.

Theoretically, at some point the water will rise and slowly engulf the land thereby destroying factories, homes and people (Essentially, the factors that are producing heat). This will balance out the problem (There are underlying assumptions to this hypothesis). What intrigues me is that this earth acts/reacts like a living entity. Perhaps, it is not conscious but still it feels alive.

I think the bigger debates are touched on right at the end. The profitability / practicality of alternatives and if it actually matters. Also the usefulness of predictive data shows its limitations on a regular basis in many areas, which makes the best way to solve the problem, and what problem to solve, fairly difficult

MrNangle I'm American, and unfortunately, you're kinda spot on. We generally just don't realize that having a big cool vehicle thats all fancy isn't as important as the Earth's condition. And for some reason we see the idea of switching to smaller vehicles or switching to electric cars as some sort of attack on our "freedom" or some sort of injustice. We are so obsessed with our stuff man.

I live in south Texas and 2016 was the only year I remember not having an actual winter. Not kidding...I remember maybe 3 days at most when it was cold outside. We had 90+ degree temperatures during most if not all of December. Texas is hot...but even in December it gets pretty damn cold. Last year though? It felt like we were in summer for 6 months. so I like that you guys went in no way into opinions, and left anything that you were not 95% sure was scientific out of the discussion. that makes this a very shareable video, by staying away from any politi-talk. but, now would be a good time for people to share any research that is still underway, or some findings for both sides of the debate. that way, people can know who to listen to in the future, so when more findings come out, they can find the actual studies and not propaganda.

I'm not a denier of the way our climate has changed, but I do feel that there is one bit of data that would make "human-caused" climate change an undeniable fact or put a nail in its coffin. We have data of CO2 levels rising after a certain point and we can point to what humans were doing at that point. It was extrapolated that we, therefore, were the cause. The data we also need, however, would be found if we cut fossil fuels and the such entirely and recorded the CO2 levels after. Should the levels drop, we could then say that humans are directly responsible and we could make a gameplan to combat it. Otherwise, we'd need to eat our words and admit that this cycle is just different, for one reason or another, than every other.

This is a really well done video with a very important message. However, what frustrates me about this video- as well as many others on the topic of climate change- is that it fails to follow up the evidence on climate change with evidence on what we can do to minimise the damage. If @WASTETIME sees this comment, I would really appreciate if they would consider following up this video with advice on what we can do as individuals to combat climate change. I've done my own research but I lack the resources to condense that information into a brief, easy-to-understand animated video which would make that information more accessible to more people.

I can't help but feel this is a little misleading. Yes, it's true that some people flat out deny climate change, the real debate is in what it means for the future. This is where there's less of a consensus. Some believe the world will continue heating, while others believe this will culminate in another ice age. The later is growing in support quite rapidly. Personally, I think we all need to invest in winter coats.

What I find interesting regarding this topic is the following: “The oceans contain 37,400 billion tons (GT) of suspended carbon, land biomass has 2000-3000 GT. The atpmosphere contains 720 billion tons of CO2 and humans contribute only 6 GT additional load on this balance. The oceans, land and atpmosphere exchange CO2 continuously so the additional load by humans is incredibly small. A small shift in the balance between oceans and air would cause a CO2 much more severe rise than anything we could produce.” This is just the first quote I could find regarding this after a quick google search, but I have heard of exactly this before. I am not saying that we aren't the reason that the earth is heating because maybe the small amount that we cause interferes with the economical balance of the earths climate but, let's say this isn't the case, are we really heating the earth or is it just the normal climate change because we aren't in an ice age anymore? What do you guys think?

One of the biggest issues with CO2 production is from Ore refineries. In the EU our refineries can only use a really high quality ore for things like steel due to regulations. Which in the process produces far less CO2, but costs more for the ore itself. Places like Asia e.g. India and China. Just use what ever they get which is normally very low percentage of the material they need. Much cheaper to produce as they buy in the horrible low quality ore, so a HUGE byproduct of CO2. And their low price steel has crushed the steel industry in the UK and across the globe, causing issues where they are dominating the market meaning more demand, meaning more poor quality ore is being used, you can see where I'm going with this.. The last G8 summit one of the issues addressed was India's huge over use of coal and China's steel manufacturing practices. I believe we'll hit an "aww f**k we screwed up" point. Then pull a massive U-turn planting trees EVERYWHERE and try to invent air scrubbers to attempt to extract the CO2 out the air in a blind hope we can restore the levels to normal. And that irreparable wasn't caused. Otherwise our ancestors better figure out efficient space travel. Always thought if that becomes a viable thing then nuclear energy wouldn't be too bad. As the byproduct could just be stored on the moon. The the earths backpack for shit we don't want. 👍

We will never get away from fossil fuels until they run out or clean energy becomes more efficient. The simple reason is that consumption rates are growing at an equal rate to the construction of clean energy plants. Every time a new solar field is built its just enough to meet the increased demand but not enough to take a coal plant offline. Then there's other problems related to alternate energy. Like the number of birds set on fire in solar fields or collisions with turbines. Even hydro dams risk polluting water if not properly maintained. The good news, I think, is that humans are exceptionally good at fixing problems. So we will probably fix this too.

... and they say gamers are out of touch with the world. That was concise and very educational. Scary part about all this is that Rex Tillerson (Ex-CEO for EXXON) is actually part of Trump's cabinet RIGHT NOW.

This was a great video! But it's almost as if people just don't care. I'm not saying I don't care, just people in general. They go to work and watch TV when they get home, because they're tired. They don't have time to care. And that's the problem .

The consensus survey was incredibly biased and dismissed massive amounts of scientists in a pre-survey. There are people in NASA that study climates that debunk the impending doom that people like Al Gore who makes millions off of a movie that claimed we should all be dead by now and somehow is somehow making another movie claiming the same thing. There is money on both sides the problem is we know we are affecting the climate but there is no way to actually gauge how much is human influence compared to nature.

can you do a video on what it would actually take to get rid of America's debt like every person buying 600 iPhones but on the more feasible side of things like something we could kind of work towards

Pretty good video, but it would have been nice if you had stated how much the earth has warmed and what countries are producing the most pollution/carbon emissions. Other than that, you did accomplish at wasting some time.

The only way to get rid of fossil-fuel based products is to make alternative products that will make buying the previous seem like a crazy idea. Example: For diesel cars, make electric cars much cheaper and electricity more accessible (and cheap) that it would be senseless to buy a diesel car. Like if a $70k family sedan (Tesla Model S) beats the top speed of cars twice its price, why bother spending double? Make sense?

I'm curious as to how are we able to know how much ppm there was 650,000 years ago? is it just a theory? what solid proof do we have of this including the time in those 650,000 years?

Tevran geologists use qhat they call "carrots". basically its a cylindrically shaped piece of ice. if they dig deeper for the corrots, they can go earlier in earth's history. in these carrots of ice there are air bubbles trapped in there and that can be measured for ppm. so basically they dug very deep to find ice that was 650000 years old and measured the air bubbles trapped in them

You should see the documentary Al Gore made about the exact same subject years ago. More people know this fact, more actions will be taken. Good video, but it's not a waste of time ^^
