Thank you !!! I was about to pull the trigger and order one to mount up on my LJ - WITH A ROUGH COUNTRY LONGARM!!! You just saved me a lot of time and money sir. I wanted an excuse to get rid of the RC system and you sir have helped me by way of this video to convince the better half that I should have not only a new axle but a new suspension also. I would like to send you a Christmas card from now on.

I’m currently installing a set of these on a TJ with a Rubicon Express long arm system. They also told me when I ordered them they will fit no problem. NOPE. Same issue with that left upper arm. I ended up just notching the inner lower side of the arm bracket that was hitting the housing, creating plenty of clearance. Worked well and only added an hour to the build. Running the same Eaton lockers and 4.56 gears.

Did you look at the Currie axle and if so, why g2? I just v8 swapped my Tj (videos on my channel) and eventually will tear up my stock d35 so one day I’ll either go with a super 35 or Dana 44 and I like the idea of buying new.
@4x4house11

Love the sound of that v8 in your jeep! I think at the time the Currie d44 was about $1,000 more than the G2 d44. 4WP also paid the sales tax which was an additional $400 savings so it just made sense to go with the g2

@@4x4house11 It's so fun to drive, it's at the A/C shop now and I miss it! Looking at a currie 44 with an e locker it looks like you can get one for $5,100 which is a pretty penny but they make really good stuff. I might just find a used d44 and add a locker and regear to 4.56, I already have a lot of money in the engine/trans swap and it's a mall crawler at the moment!

Good informative video. I'm leaning towards G2 for my 2017 JKU. Hopefully there won't be any issues like you had. The price for this axel seems about $1,500 cheaper than the Dynatrac axel with most of the same components. i don't foresee myself doing a lot of off-roading (mainly because of where i live), but I want my jeep to handle the trails for when I do go.

I don't think there will be any issues with your JKU. Just make sure you use cam bolts for the LCA brackets. You should be good!

Your axle tube on the driver’s side was leaking fluid from the differential seal and you needed someone to fix it? Why not pull it apart and do it yourself? It’s easy. You can find videos on KZbin to assist you should it be your first time. Rough Country is a budget minded product. I used their long arm XJ system on my old build, which was a 2000 model year. Buy a TJ/LJ and dump the XJ. You’ll be miles ahead and a lot happier.
@4x4house11
@4x4house11 4 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t from the seal. The tube was bent towards the bottom where the lower control arm mount was welded. Also don’t want a TJ/lj as the Xj is much more insulated when Im in snowy weather and I have a lot of sentimental value towards xj’s.
@bemyers123
@bemyers123 4 жыл бұрын
4x4 House you mentioned oil leaking from the driver’s side tube. Now you’re saying it was bent. Whatever. I have put a lot of money into two XJ’s and they’re nowhere near as capable as a TJ/LJ. My LJ is 3X more capable than the best XJ I’ve ever seen and wheeled with. I also live in Alaska and the hard top/soft top combo works fine in cold weather. A TJ/LJ would cost a fair amount more than an XJ, which can be found dirt cheap. You said that you have more into that front axle than you paid for your XJ. I’m guessing that it’s more of a money issue than a sentimental value thing. I’ve been there and done that. I only wish that I hadn’t wasted money on two XJ’s. To each their own...

@Justin Stevens your opinion could apply to yourself because you haven’t said anything of value. I’m betting that you don’t get invitations to parties because you just stir the pot and piss everyone off. You’re the type of clown that got punched in the nose, had his books knocked out of his hands and tripped in the hallway while everyone laughed! If you think of something intelligent, please reply. Even if you have a specific issue or disagreement. You know, something other than a childish comment...😂

@Justin Stevens Chugiak, actually. I’m getting an Anchorage vibe from you. Kinda like Service High School. I see that I have you pegged. You like to argue online because face-to-face gets you more than you bargained for. Do you have “anything” intelligent to offer, or are you just a thin skinned butt hurt XJ owner?

$4,000 per axle and that is just for parts? Now I have to crunch some numbers to see how many years I have to save to make this happen. I may not even have the Jeep by then. Just Empty Every Pocket doesn't even begin to cover this. Do people really have pockets this deep? Boggles my mind and definitely casts doubt that I can achieve the goals I have set.

Any axle swap is gonna cost. Junkyard axle $300, weld on brackets/truss $150-$500, regear $300 (DIY) - $800+(shop), selectable locker $850, Chromoly axle shafts $550. So to get something comparable you are looking at $2200 or so on the cheap end if you can weld and if you can install gears yourself. If not, you're going to be awful close to $4000 to have a junkyard axle setup with the gears, locker, and Chromoly shafts for your rig by a shop.

That's not how that works. This steering is purposefully designed so the Tierod can be as high as possible and the draglink is still in line with the tracbar using the low factory axle side tracbar mount.
