I searched how destructible a GoPro 8 is. I have the older one with the hard case and I don’t think I can switch to the new one.

The gopro hero 8 is very fragile as it doesn’t have a removable lens and if you break the screen or lens you are basically done and there goes lots of money down the drain

It’s worth contacting them, they might give you a free replacement unit if you explain the scenario how it happened

Well they say waterproof but I had a bad experience with mine and I wouldn’t recommend using it in wet environment unless you’ve got a waterproof housing for it

i got mine water damage after being in less than 1 ft of water

follow the procedure I did and GoPro should hopefully give you a replacement unit, fingers crossed tho

If you still check your comments on your videos… I have a question, i was not trusting the battery door either to be waterproof, so I bought a gopro floaty case so it secures the battery door even more. But it doesn’t protect the front or the back, only the sides, is that okay for a normal diving in the sea?

From what happened with my experience I definitely would recommend getting the waterproof case. As mentioned with mine, I was legit floating at the top of the water and went to record until to my surprise that the gopro wasn’t working anymore. But maybe I simply got bad luck although with such an expensive purchase I would not risk it

I agree with that, but i already tested it in the water multiple times, and what i just believe is that it will just resist for one year or a little less and then i’ll buy a waterproof case, but for now, nothing happened in the water, so that’s why i was suspicious about salty water…

They claim it is, but it sure isn’t built too well for it, personally I call it more water resistant since it still has high failures to let water inside! FYI, a lot of people got issues with the hero 8 and weird water damage or problem with water in general

Definitely not. I used it in water and the electrics were damaged and the screen turned black and it broke.

Agree ✔️💯 i used mine just 1-2 meters to take a underwater clip, before that I caught it in my hand while I was swimming, coz of the splashing, the water could have entered in. I had the Gopro Waterproof Official Housing. I thought of experimenting it without the case as Gopro claims it to be waterproof out of the box. I am sure that i had securely shut the door, anyways i explained the truth, kept it simple and i am getting my replacement tomorrow.
