Brilliant comparison, a Harris hawk in a thick wood is an interesting bird they do some pretty good manoeuvres. Well presented video, enjoyed it good luck and happy hawking.

Great video. Looks like the Harris hawk being cooperative hunters are much more easily manned,

Your comments about the "processing speed" and flight style of the goshawk really mirror what Ben Woodruff says, how they seem to have 20x faster "video" rate than us, and there's a fabulous video showing a goshawk flying through plexiglass tubes, barely the size of its body! So, at the end of the video, your opinions seem to match what I've seen in many ways... One thing that I was surprised about, it seems that, often, HH's will dive into the bush, one of the British falconers shows His HH deep in the bush, a lot! The HH is easier to live and work with, the GH kind of more "thrilling", but can be tricky to live with... Excellent video, sir, from someone who flies his HH "professionally"; probably not a "job" for the GH!

@@lohikarhu734 I do notice that HH are more likely to crash in their first year but do it Less and less to the point where they mostly stop.

Great video! I've never personally flown a gos but have several friends that do. I feel like the HH crashes much harder in my experience than a gos.... the male HH def have a more accipter type flying style... but... The gos speed is second to none! Thanks for making an awesome video!

Maybe crashing is more dependent on the terrain. Our brush is often covered in spines and cacti.

I'm no expert that's for sure...I can only relate with my own limited experiences

You probably haven’t flown the peregrine of the fist?! Goshawk has advantage in the first 50 meters, but after that the peregrine will leave the goshawk in a dust 😅

I'm just beginning to watch, but have some opinions that can be tweaked... GH being sports car, HH being fast 4x4... Both usable, but different driving style and locations...

If I went hunting with a rifle I would want that gun to be reliable all round! This is why after 21 years of hunting with GH I have reverted back to the trusty HH ! Goshawks made me lose my hair and go bald!

That's just your age kicking in. You've got to admit nothing compares to a gos hunting.

Something I've never tried but have a pere x saker coming this summer. I can't wait. What's your preferred longwing. I'm going to fly from the hood with this one. I know what you mean about going bald, I've a female gos that I blame for my lack of 🧐
@waynekieft49528 ай бұрын
@krisfarrar3896 You should always fly out of the hood with long wings!!! My preferred falcon for hunting is a Peregrine! But my passion and love lies with Sakers ! In January I lost my best hunting Sakeret,the only male I had! Flew into a caravan window, killed him stone dead! I wouldn't recommend a Pere x Saker as your first longwing! Better off with a Lanner or Pere x Lanner! You will have your hands full with a Pere x Saker believe me!!

Goshawks dont quit chasing as easy as harris as a harris is more of a buzzard than a true hawk the goshawk has more drive to catch prey most harris hawks are way more steady and are a beginner bird a gos is more tempernental but stronger prey drive id say harris hawks are more intelligent aswell and they hunt in packs
@lohikarhu7343 ай бұрын
A buzzard,.. actually, closer to an eagle, less of a soaring bird than most buteos
