Being an IITIAN is kind of a proof of being hardworking and intelligent..which is true...but another person from a normal college has to struggle twice to get the same opportunities as him. In summary the amount of energy and hardwork required is kind of balanced in both the cases and is rational too.

Everything matters, it's just the prospective. And no college or institute guarantees the success, everything depends upon your intentions to do things and work on yourself. Working hard to get into any institute is a different thing and then consistently keeping that attitude after getting there is also imp. All depends upon you. And Elon musk said college are wastage of time . But now I realized in colleges like IIT I can live with bunch of people who are focused on a specific goal. I can make my future board members from them . I can be confident that I have a potential . I just gave 10-15% of my potential to achieve 90%le . I can easily crack IIT .

But you are forgetting that jee advanced is not difficult just because of the quality of questions . The selection ratio is what makes it the big deal . No of candidates giving jee is way higher than isi . Now coming to which one is a better institution , it depends on the field of your choice . If any one has interest in computer science engineering , he will definately go to iit Bombay , delhi etc or even in IIIT Hyderabad . He will not choose any ISI . So considering one a better college is childish .

I work in Google Munich since 2021. Guess what? I only have a tier 3 college B.Tech degree and now earn 90K euros. I will be a German citizen after 5 more years. Not having an IIT IIM degree didn't stop me from achieving the lifestyle I wanted. Tes in India its vital but not in western Europe. Prior to Google I was jobless for two years.

Yes that is right but the power of that IIT tag is way much high . Amount of chances and respect way is much different between a IIt and non IIt guys . A non IIt guys have to proof so much in his carrier to atleast come to level is not impossible but really very difficult .

Let me explain this briefly- Answer- IIT/Tier-1 matters but it depends on different scenarios- Scenario I - When you are highly ambitious and have some great and hard to achieve goals(Building a Company & Etc) 1) then you should start it by cracking iit or get into some tier 1 college. Because if you can't crack this then there is less than 1% chances that you will achieve your big goals in future(as it will require more hardwork and dedication than jee) 2) Once you get into iits/top colleges, you will get better exposure/sorrounding which will help you to grow your mindset/knowledge and etc as there will some top genius minds of the country. 3) you will get more opportunity than other engineering students in this country like you can have chance to join Google,Adobe etc but they don't. Scenario -2- when you want to earn more salary Here IIT/Tier-1 college matter also Because in tier 2/3 colleges mostly, the companies visited for placement offer maximum 4-5 Lacs, no. of companies will be less and in the name of MNC, only service based companies come for mass recruitment like wipro and tcs. No product based companies( in tier 2/3). So, let explain this with example Suppose two friend graduated but one from IIT/NIT and other from tier 2/3 college. Both have same level of skills but one got chance to join Google and other got at wipro. IIT guy got 12 lpa and you got 5 lpa After 5 years you are getting 8-10 lpa and IIT guy is now getting 25 lpa. I hope you got my point. Scenario 3- Mediocre Life So in this case may be a person doesn't have big goals and don't need too much money too just a job and some cash to manage his/her life Then for these kind of person IIT/NIT doesn't matter. just join a College which gives some decent placement i mean don't go for tier 3 but tier 2 Now exception cases- You try hard but didn't succed in jee but it doesn't mean you will also failed to achieve your dreams. All you have to do is lage raho akhiri saans tak. Note- getting an opportunity is one thing and maintaining it is different. Btw I am just a btech dropout ,now I am an MCA🍷 Student from nit Trichy. It's important bro,do you know the intership opportunities they get,one of my friend who is in his second year got an internship at Oracle of 50k stipend and girl from my area of same college got an stipend on 90k on another company,in their college nobody even tried tcs interernship which was offering 20k and believe me I am more talented than him but trying to get an off campus placement which at most will give 6-10k stipend(I haven't started applying yet, waiting till DP)..
