How does it do with say a pc fan running will it limit that extra noise or eliminate it?

It won't completely block out noise from a fan. I'd suggest distancing your mic from the PC, or if possible, have the mic and PC be in separate rooms.

Noise gates don't remove room noise. You need to spend money to make money. I've made SIGNIFICANTLY more money recording with "overpriced gear" than I would by doing the bare minimum. 🤷🏽‍♂️

But learning how to effective filter and EQ is a very important aspect to mixing, I'm sure you know this obviously. But it seems like items like this are a little "overkill" for a casual home set up when you could simply use blankets or pillows or.. whatever. But if you want something that looks aesthetically pleasing or to take your audio "to the next level" (I'm sure their is diminishing returns the higher up in price you go) then I'm sure these are perfectlu suitable options. My comment didn't have enough nuisance for sure, but my point still stands.. use a noise gate LOL. Great video

I recommend the Rode NT1 or the Shure SM7B. You may be able to find a used Neumann TLM 102 for under $500 as well.

I'm considering buying this & a Telefunken TF51 mic because that mic has a very nice lift in the highs when in omni polar pattern. Do you believe it is a good idea to use a mic in omni with the eyeball?

That seems counterintuitive. People usually use omnidirectional mics to capture noise all around the mic, not just in front of it. The Eyeball is designed to reduce the noise around it.

@@LMarquee I didn't notice until I actually took it off today. I've had it for a few months. Maybe I'm just too close to it. I see everyone right up on it pretty much in every video so that's how I used it. Maybe I need to back up a little.

Bro the kaotica is trash.. it takes away all of the natural highs in your voice.. i can recommand that thing if you record in a bathroom.. if not then then dont spend any money on this..

I have noticed that it reduces the high end, but I like how it sounds with my mic. Of course, you'll get the best results with proper acoustic treatment, but this is still a great option for people who have limited options for treating their rooms.
