Hmmm. I think I like the Modern Axe more, but maybe test it. Put your Modern Axe on a rack at base, go grab another one and upgrade it with the Feathers and see if it makes it any different. It does hit harder, and you eventually learn how to time the swings perfectly but idk. I'm kinda the same, once I get the Katana I end up using it regardless bc of the dps.

Feathers added with tree sap will increase speed of the modern axe. To upgrade the katana damage you have to get the machete at the bottom of the sinkhole. All damage upgrades (teeth and tree sap), will apply to the katana as well. Not sure if this applies to the PC version but it works on the PS4 version.

For the upgraded axe, its more for hardmode cuz getting hit on that difficult is not forgiving. But to master all you do it - dodge their first attack, power attack(will knock them to the ground) then one more hit to finish off. So two hits for a kill

@Sl1pg8r. I keep forgetting to let you know this. But on the twitch streams in the original save of your play through you had increased the brightness of the game. This play through is just soo dark. Almost unwatchable at times in caves and at night. Only almost though, as you are still quite entertaining.

Might be a good idea to have a youtube channel for your Twitch VODs? I mainly YT at work, but while YT is unblocked, Twitch isn't, unfortunately. I'm probably not the only person with that issue. Would love to check out your stream VODs, though.

The modern axe is by far the best melee weapon in the game. It has really good stamina per swing ratio, 9/10 blocking which is amazing and it has over 3/10 speed. Why the katana sucks compared to the modern axe? Simple answer is strength value. The more you play the game and get your strength higher the better the modern axe is going to scale because strength increases your damage by a percent. I'd say at around 50-55 strength you'll notice a considerable difference in damage. Also, the katana cannot be upgraded and has 0 block. It's all about side-stepping and using the stamina for that, takes a while to get used to.

The modern axe is the best weapon in the game. Hands down. It just takes some getting used to. You need to learn to sprint, and side step properly to really use it to full effect. But a good, fully upgraded modern axe makes a fine red mist out of cannibals.

Well the katana dont block better and its extremly fast and can knock down enemies easily i killed armsies with katana by getting close and really the armsy didnt did damage to me sometime did the best way to kill them is instanly hitting them and moving around with a katana but u can chop down trees very fast with modern axe to your question the katana is better than the modern axe in combats

I have played a LOT of Ghost of Tsushima, So i feel like i can say with complete confidence that the Katana in the forest should be much deadlier than it is. Devs need to give it a damage buff.

Idk if it is your kind of game honestly but it falls into the horror genre like the Forest. Blizzard are remaking Diablo II which drops on the 23rd Remastered and I just thought a play through of that would be interesting with your upbeat attitude lol It really is a great story and game anyway.
