It has a very wide sound spectrum. And sometimes it's so digital that it's good! :)

The Modwave is so much more than the filters, and effects they use so strongly on the presets. For myself, 99% of the patches I write have the filters bypassed and all the timbral shift is done with the envelopes, motion sequencers, or LFOs. I tend to only ever use the compressor for problematic dynamics, otherwise I use my Strymon El Capistan and Deco as board send/return effects. The recursive modulations on the Modwave are mind boggling and it is way better than the Archer 200-in-1 Electronics Kit I had in the 70s, except this one is for sound experiments! And most importantly, custom wavetables gotten from or created by Audioterm or Waveedit make the Modewave an awesome Wavetable synth in my books. I had a DW6000, and it had one of the lowest audio outputs I have ever played. Sold it.

That motion sequencer is good for improvising rhythmic grooves

This sequencer alone is worth a video!

New to your channel. Really nice review - and in a second language to boot. Bravo!

Did you also try the Wavestate? Telling from the demos I seem to prefer what people are getting out of it over the Modwave.

Not yet.

The WaveState is a truly awesome synth - don’t waste time on the ModWave.

The bass and kick drum sound good on the intro track

Yeah! It‘s a sampled kick from Modwave! 👍

Nice video - I had this synth for a while, but it wasn’t a keeper, too complicated for a not awesome sound. I’ve kept the WaveState and OpSix however.
@winesynths2 жыл бұрын
How do you like the OpSix? And did you compare it to an old FM/PM-Synth from Yamaha or Casio? That could be interesting!

I can't get past the cheap plastic. I literally never plugged it in and want to sell asap.

Concerning Software we should not forget about The Vital-Synth

I will try it! Looks very interesting! Thanks for the tip! 🍀

It has a great sound, you just need to dig deeper. It’s a complex machine

Yes! For the price you get a lot of Synth power! 💪 Honestly, I did not expect this first! Normally, manufactureres tend to cut down or simplify editing features in the lower price range. Korg does it right and makes it even easy to program! 👍
@mh22xvАй бұрын
Never imply anything is too cheap. Hardly consumer friendly. You want Korg to increase the price of their synth?!
@winesynthsАй бұрын
Haha! No not at all! Finally, I would not recommend to buy anything from those new Korgs that are VSTs in Hardware. Same with Roland. Those two brands became totally obsolete for real synth lovers! 🤖

@winesynths2 жыл бұрын

Too expensive, it's just vst in a plastic case with a very poor quality keyboard.
@BendApparatus9 ай бұрын
You are spot on... But sometimes that is exactly what people want. A full featured VST... With a custom made controller...
@vincentprimault43807 ай бұрын
Technically as all digital synths. For me such a small synth may be a good "couch synth" candidate. The real problem, imho, is when you feel the need to use a software editor because of the complexity of the hardware interface. In this case why bother with hardware if you may get the same with a computer and a midi kb ? (Knobs are the only benefit.)
@BendApparatus7 ай бұрын
@@vincentprimault4380 The software editor serves as a visual representation of what goes on behind the small screen. Not just for the synthesis pathway but also for the complex sequencer, etc... Once you have an understanding of this in memory... Many people have noted that you no longer have a need for the editor... And that's always a good thing, no?
