Hey Goodfellas,
time to discover the famous Lamy 2000 together. Is it really that great and iconic?

@@guillermocheca3122 Have to agree. Out of all the pens I own the EF nib on the Lamy 2000 is just a joy to write with as it's a perfect line width and the feel of the nib (glides across the paper but stiff to support my heavy writing style) just enhances my penmanship.

For me the Lamy 2000 is my all time favorite pen I have one that was purchased for me in 1983 and since then I have purchased 3 more. One with an Oblique Broad nib, one with a custom Architect nib and a third stainless steel version with a special Music nib that Lamy ground special for me upon request. Even out of my many thousand dollar pens I always come back to my Lamy 2000s because they are the smoothest nib on the market.

I love my Lamy 2000. Since I purchased it five years ago, it has been one of the few pens that has been continually inked. I love the philosophy behind it; built with the purpose of being practical and a great writer without being flashy.

I love my Lamy 2000's. Every time I see a new color I have to have it. I have different nib's in most of them. I would include a picture but I have 2 on the way.

When I made the decision to get this pen I thought it would be wonderful out of the box but as time went by I hated it more and more. Then one day, as fate would have it, I dropped the bloody thing and it landed square on the awful medium nib rendering it a piece of 14K junk. I then set out to find a way I could get a new nib and I came across a wonderful nib guy who sold them with a smooth and polish option. I purchased another medium nib and that service made all the difference. No more ‘sweet spot’ and as is my preference it’s smooth as glass with thick, juicy lines. I now consider this my #1 pen in my collection. So much so I purchased another nib in OM. I can’t wait to see how that nib turns out.

Based on my current exposure to penmanship, I think the 3 must haves for daily use and pure writing joy (not aesthetics and cosmetics) would be Lamy 2000, Parker 51, Pilot custom 823. This is just one list; there could be others which have similar ethos

It is not really "my" kinda'pen. I'm not too fond of the Bauhaus Style. The pen is an excellent one, there is no doubt about it. I'm just talking about the aesthetics of it. Thank you for the interesting video anyway!

I think is the pen I will keep if I had to have just one pen. And I own pens much more expensives. I have miss in your video the great writting experience. Mine It is so smooth!!! Smoother than the rest of my pens. Yes, just in the sweetspot, but in that spot... I also like that you can use It even in places where someone with a fountain Pen may seem snob! I love your natural simpathy very much in your videos. Greetings from 🇪🇦

My favorite version of it is the Blue Bauhaus in which I swapped a M nib. And one of my favorite pens overall. I have the Makrolon, Stainless Steel, Blue Bauhaus and Black Amber. However I didn’t buy the 55th Anniversary Brown version. In my opinion they overdid it with the price. At the the time it came out it cost M1000 street price money or went for 4 times as much as the street price of a regular Makrolon 2000 was at the time. Albeit I would have liked to complete my collection, the higher price wasn’t worth it for it to me. Overall the Lamy 2000 offered a great value at the time I bought mine. Especially if you consider how well these hold up with use.

your opinion on Pelican Pura P40 and why its expensive for a aluminum stainless steel nib?
@laurameszaros9547
@laurameszaros9547 2 ай бұрын
I have both makrolon and stainless steel versions. I really like them, although my stainless steel version doesn't post very well, and I find this very irritating, since I always post my pens when I write more than a few syllables. They both write well and have a decent ink capacity. Another advantage with the makrolon is that it is fairly modestly priced, so if it gets lost or stolen you won't have to take out a second mortgage when you replace it. I'd give it a 9 out of 10 for the makrolon and 7.5 out of 10 for the stainless steel.

HI Laura, just out of curiosity. Can you elaborate on "doesn't post very well". As it might be a simple fix.
@laurameszaros9547
@laurameszaros9547 2 ай бұрын
The cap often slips off whilst I am writing with it. The makrolon posts very securely, but I don't know whether the problem with the stainless steel one is generic to the version or perhaps just specific to mine - a design fault of some kind. I was brought up to always post pens - Scottish schools in the early 1960's!! - and the habit has always stuck. @@harrysibben7583

Hi there Harry, I did reply to you but YT keeps deleting comments bigtime. 2nd attempt now. The cap on the stainless steel version often slips off when I'm writing. The makrolon, on the other hand, is a snug, secure fit. I don't know if it's a generic problem with the stainless steel version as a whole or maybe a fault with my particular pen. Thanks for enquiring. @@harrysibben7583

Like the original Parker 51, I never liked the Lamy 2000 until I had one in my hand and could feel it. Mine needs to go back to Lamy as it has sprung a leak - hopefully it will come back in full working order as I miss using the oblique medium nib on it.

I have always loved the simple design of the pen but wow, does it write well. OK, it writes well, I don't but it makes writing fun. My Lamy 2000 even got me doing something weird, writing an actual letter, not a text to my daughter who lives 1800 miles away.

Innitially the Lamy 2000 was made with aluminium. I have an older version that has aluminium outer case with macrolon insert (where the ink hole is). These versions are slightly lighter too. Later versions have stainless bottom as you buy them now. I think they have done this as the aluminium with makrolon insert is not as strong as stainless steel. It might also take longer to produce. It is a great pen. It is sad that the company is sold to Mitsubishi pencil.

I'm not a fan. I have one. I don't like the rough barrel material, and my fingers slide down the grip section. Also, part of the thing I like most about pens is looking down at something beautiful in my hand while I write. Including, a beautiful, large nib. I get this experience with all of my pens except this one. It has this little excuse for a nib sticking out that gives me no joy - certainly not like a #8 gold nib. I know a lot of people love this pen and I hope they enjoy every bit of it. It's just not for me. (I have a black one for sale - somebody please buy this thing from me.)

I knew it for years ... decades to be honest. I hated its design. Never touched it. But one day, after hundreds of thousands of people marveled about this pen I finally gave it a try. Man! Have I been stupid to ignore this pen for such a long time! Going into the shop with 'Meh! Well ... okay let's give it a try." I went out of the shop happy with it in the pocket about 10 minutes later. From zero to 100 it started to be one of my daily workhorses.
