Bought a mini version and returned in 2 days. Went for a full size. For me the small arrows, the absence of Home and End button (although there's a shortcut) and numbers pad was the turning point. As a full time coder, I felt that I'm not as productive with this mini version as before with an old full-size.
@davidmarquez2821 Жыл бұрын
On the mini, the fn-arrows give you the home/end/pgup/pgdn. After some practice it's as efficient as dedicated keys because your hand does not have to travel to reach the dedicated keys that are located farther right. The right hand travel to the mouse and back is also greatly reduced. I think that compensates. You move your hands less, which may improve performance and reduce strain.

My biggest issue with the Mini is that Logitech advertises it as a great combo with the MX Anywhere 3, but they don't use the same connector. So in the current optimal setup the Mini keyboard pairs with the Bolt connector of a large mouse (MX Master 3), and the full keyboard pairs with the Unifying connector of a mini mouse. So counter-intuitive.

I just bought this keyboard. The reason I bought this over the regular sized keyboard was it's more portable. Maybe I missed it but he never mentions portability. If you're only going to use it for your home office then get the full sized keyboard. The encryption makes sense because you're supposed to put it in a bag and use it in a few different locations.

I think it’s only natural for all of us to expect a smaller keyboard to come with a smaller price. I can understand the point about them being basically the same keyboard with two choices for your preference, hence the same price, but I feel they really should’ve included the dongle. That said, I’ll probably be getting one. Thank you for the video.

I purchased the full size MX keys, and I ditched it for the mini 10 days after! The reason is, I have been using Apple mini keyboard so long and when I started using the full size MX Keys I had some pain in my shoulder due to the distance between the keyboard and the mouse... So, consider this factor too.. For people who are already used to mini keyboard, bigger form factor might be a serious issue.
@_VideoChannel_2 жыл бұрын
Regarding your comments suggesting a smaller keyboard should cost less. Though it is very similar in overall form and function. The cost to design, package, market and distribute products is not a simple function of the products physical dimension or number of buttons\keys included. Sometimes a smaller form factor product takes more engineering and design work. Also pricing is based on the total quantity they are able to sell to recover the investment and generate expected profits. It would be entirely possible for the mini to be priced higher than the standard size. I would personally pay a higher price for the mini, because the form is more attractive for my use case.

I learned three things 1. I don't want the larger one because of the ESC key. 2. I don't want the mini because of lack of unify. 3. I am very very old school because I don't know how to use a mouse to get an emoji. Best review of the MX Mini on KZbin.

Have both of them here as well. And having the same feeling as you. I think, I will keep the Mini, but yeah... why is the Bold reciever not included? Why the MX Master 3 mice does not support Bold? I love the option to have MX Keys and MX Master 3 - both connected via one Unifying reciever. But I love larger Enter and the Fn on left sine on Mini.

I was between standard Keys and Mini and after trying both in store, I bought Mini. Point is, if you got use to use laptop keyboard without keypad, go with mini. It is more compact and much lighter, especially if you are in tech industry working home+office and you need go carry around your keyboard. I also got Bolt USB but at least in home don't see big difference in typing speed/latency. Also, points for me for Mini are left Fn button and dedicated buttons for Volume/Microphone mute (super useful for Zoom conference calls). Pairing with good mouse (in my case M720) and you are good to go.

I got the standard Keys about a year ago and couldn't be happier. I don't use the numpad a lot but i really like to have it when I do. And the Unifying receiver is a must for me. Totally agree with the pairing with an M720. I was ready to get the MX Master 3 but the switch device button at the bottom was a total deal breaker for me. The M720 has it on the top/side so that made it the obvious choice for 1/3 the price. Fantastic keyboard/mouse combo.

Seems a ripoff to me, paying the same price for less keyboard and no receiver. The Logi Bolt has zero benefit for non-business users and all products get upgraded yearly so justifying that as the reason for the same price point doesn't hold weight for me. I also think the mini keyboard looks far too cramped especially with the tiny arrow keys.

I know is a new product but it doesnt justify the fact that is has less materials and connectivity (USB receiver), at the end you will be paying $99.99 + $14.99 for a smaller form factor. The only reason I would consider buying it, is , if I go back to the office and I need a smaller KB that fits in my backpack. I love the regular full keys version and I see no reason to buy the mini at the moment. And I have to thank you for your amazing review of both products, quite satisfied with the way you approach the products. Susbcribed. :)

I'm here one day after receiving my mx mini... Tbf, the design is great, its heavier than it looks, and the graphite version blends well with my all black setup (coincidental) and i also uses a mx vertical. HOWEVER, out of the box from the get go, it sputtered. The easy-switch is wonky, i now have to fork out extra money to buy the bolt receiver because i want to know if it will work better than bluetooth. Why do i say its wonky? on bluetooth, the easy-switch is having trouble connecting back to my pc after connecting the keyboard to my ipad pro. It just wouldn't connect and i had to reset and now this keyboard is only connected to my windows 10 laptop and my ipad is using my old keyboard (k480, tbh have such seamless connection back and forth devices.... its putting this expensive mx keys mini to shame) Another gripe, its so dumb that i have to installed YET another program just to manage the keyboard... Logi Options doesn't support MX keys mini, and Logi Options+ doesn't support my MX Vertical mouse... so now i have 1 prog to manage the mouse and one prog to manage the keyboard.... really redundant isn't it? I should've gone with the Microsoft Designer compact keyboard. The pros: looks great, awesome typing experience.

Fn + left/right/up/down is much better IMO since it follows the + arrow key "paradigm": - 1 "step" (character or line) at a time: + arrow keys - 1 word at a time: Ctrl + left/right - Home/end: Fn + left/right - Page up/down: Fn + up/down Navigating a document or long source code becomes much easier because my right hand never has to leave the arrow keys regardless (for the most part) of the cursor movement I'm doing.

I would have gone for the Mini IF it was also available in darker space grey - like the full size version. But alas, it's not, at least not in my country. And I really don't want to use the "regular" version which has both markings for Windows and Mac keys (Strg/Ctrl/Ald/Opt/Cmd/Win/AltGr) - which would be very confusing. Even though I think the Logi Bolt is..well... a bit redundant because hardly any Mac comes equipped with a USB-A port these days - that also begs the question as to why they shipped the keyboard with a USB-A to USB-C cable. Would have made more sense for them to really commit and just put a USB-C to USB-C cable in there.

I think its overpriced in comparison to the full size keys, and it doesn't even work with the Unifying adapter. The least they could have done was include the new Bolt receiver. The ultimate keyboard would be if they added the numpad to the Mini like a premium version of the MK470.

I feel the Mini keys are little harder to press, it is hard to tell the difference by just looking at it but try some typing tests with both Full and Mini and see the difference.
