Actually took a look at one of these. Going fast is about all it's got going for it. The bolt on caliper covers hiding base model calipers is an interesting touch.

The way I look at it is simple. Take the old HSV cars. You were basically paying extra for engine enhancements, driveline improvements and the cabin was similar (better seats?). Similar to the XPower, where the additional money goes to giving you even more performance. It worked then and I don’t think it needs to be complained about now as the cars would simply cost more. Simple.

I like how it looked lowered, make it much more like a hot hatch. They should definifely make it standard on all XPower

This is looking really nice. Was interested in this car but with this new look I will 100 percent buy one if it come to the market for sure. Think they should go with 19s though

You also don’t sound like you’ve spent time on Autobahn’s. Where a less powerful car isn’t limited to its top speed like these. It will accelerate quickly however still be in a slower lane.

MG have been pimping this car around to a few reviewers for some time now .. I have the 2023 build MG4 X power ( yes with the vibe MG are dragging there heals to fix ) ive got the H&R lowered springs waiting to be fitted ( after the fix ) wheels are pointless upgrade accept for look .. After 21000km done i had to replace the stock tyres the SINGLE biggest improvement ive done is change to Michelin pilot sport 5 tyres .. 100% better these should be standard fitment on all X powers .. Stock tyres are rubbish and argument could be made that the stock tyres will give you more range but the claimed 400km range is part BS anyway best ive done is 250km round trip 100% to 10% in normal mode .. eco mode might make 400km at but reducing the power to standard MG4 power at which point why even buy the X power!! The body kit looks good basically imported from Thailand which im very interested in fitting to my car at some point .. Personally forget the overpriced pointless wheels offer the body kit , lowered springs , and slap some Michelin pilot sport 5s on there charge around the $2000aud price point maybe $2500 with fitting and you will have a much better hot hatch !! I would like to see better hugging seats but MG cant offer that !!

If the wheels are lighter then I’d buy them as a reduction in unsprung weight I’d alway a good thing plus you can always change the tyres to a stickier compound (even if your range might suffer) which has not been a factor for performance cars. I’d buy one. As per current racing lines it’s a quick in and out of corners approach today for F1 and MotoGP. No longer is holding corner speed a huge priority.

to my understanding yes they are lighter wheels but not sure the performance gains are worth it over the tyres 4k with the same crappy tyres aint really a good deal .. I just changed to Michelin pilot sport 5 and 100% better grip braking and over handling than before !! Not sure if the range is less but you dont buy the X power for its amazing range more so the claimed 400km range is BS unless you drive in eco which cuts most of the power off so your better spending 30k for a Stock MG4 !!

Two reasons why I can't buy this car: 1. Wireless charging bay not deep enough to stop phone from flying around the cabin. MG make it deeper or raise the sides of the area to stop the phone from flying. 2. This is the BIG reason - the driver's display is way too small. It looks like it's for a toy car. I'm not spending over $50k to look at such a small driver display. It's a joke, it's embarrassing. How much more would a 10 or 12 inch screen cost?? A couple of hundred dollars. MG, that is disgraceful. Fix it, if you want to be taken seriously, and you will sell a lot more MG4s and MG3s. And finally, I would definitely pay for the sport extras if the car handles better.

I own the X power and the 1st thing you need to understand the closest car with the same HP and 0-100 figures is the BYD seal premium at over 70k !! I 100% agree about the wireless charging bay its stupid hence why i make sure my phone is charged and connect Via bluetooth to the infotainment system !! 2nd thing the car is built at a price next your going to complain about the driver only electric seats the crappy tyres ( which by the way is the main reason the car handles badly ) ( ive just put Michelin pilot sport 5s on there and its 100 times better ) there are quite a few design things that the car lacks but that is the price thing!! Better sportier seats would be great actual decent brake calipers not the covers .. ( the X power brakes well enough i guess but the better tyres help too ) better chassis refinement better springs and suspension set up, a bigger battery would be great for more range in turn more KW lets say 400kw to accommodate the bigger battery ( cyberster power ) but then your starting to blow the cost out the $65k 70k is way way to much !! To be honest driver display is perfectly sized so visible though the smaller sporty steering wheel make little sense having a 20 inch screen blocked by the steering wheel the infotainment screen could be a bit bigger but the bigger the screen the better the CPU needs to be to run the bigger screen the small screens now can be laggy at times !! ( to be honest to big is kinda overkill you cant watch movies on it so whats the actual point to big screens it shows the info needed and thats its purpose) Once again the car is built at a price so you loose extra things that come standard on the more expensive fast EV's So all The X power really needs is maybe stock lowered H&R springs and some pilot sport 5s as standard fitment and it will be a much better car !! everything else eg: body kit and wheels are for looks which offer no real performance upgrade !!

WTF... only 12 month warranty.... no one should buy it. Being a hot hatch fan, Here I was looking at it with keen interest, and then finding out it's prices way too high and has a ridiculously inadequate warranty of 12 months. I mean, when was the last time a car was offered with only 12 months warranty...?

The car itself is covered by MG's regular 10 year/250,000km warranty - it's just the accessories (like the body kit, upgraded suspension parts, and wheels) that have a 12 month warranty - and this is the same for all genuine MG parts and accessories.

Everything EV is a depreciation disaster .. 55k is a cheaper loss than 70k or 100k or 200k EV's The standard MG4 with 180kw rear wheel drive is 30k currently cheaper than a corolla with longer cheaper service intervals.. Ive owned my X power now for 10 months and other than the vibe which was common on the up to mid 24 models the car is working and performing great ( im finally getting the vibe fix with parts on order ) tech support is a dealer thing where i bought mine from the aftersales service is disgusting moved to another MG dealership and they have be fantastic !! All MG cars now have a 10 year warranty on both car and battery !!
