@@BalboaBaggins EXACTLY!!! Also for imperialistic reasons, to increase the political influence and grip over states like Mexico etc. and destabilization of black people and minorities in USA and other states. If it was never meant to be won, of course it didn't work. Imagine a car that isn't built to work but to have a nice design. That doesn't mean you have to change and use horses, make the car better.
@nickn27943 жыл бұрын
@@KarlSnarks Actually Portugal did it without legalization but with decriminalization only, people found with drugs were sent to rehab and they improved education a lot. Consume didn't totally disappear but it was reduced by a lot. Also, if the State doesn't work on the social causes for which people join gangs and take drugs (poverty, mental illness, etc.) mafia will never ever disappear, no matter what. But for a State that can't solve its problems, it's easier to legalize taboo substances than working seriously on poverty, healthcare, minorities.
@KarlSnarks3 жыл бұрын
@@nickn2794 Oh yeah absolutely, Portugal is a good example of a drug policy that works well in fighting addiction. Treating addiction as a disease and not as a crime is an important part of the solution, and prevention, education and welfare are all part of a holistic approach, I'm not denying that. As I understand it, recreational (non-addicted) use did not change much in Portugal, though maybe something changed in the previous years? I think some recreational drug use will always exist because people are curious and pleasure/experience-seeking. Taking it away from the black market will ensure a clean product with added safety-information on the container, excise tax can be used to pay for education and rehab, and we'd need less police.

They are everywhere. Sometimes its just a room in a normal council flat in a city which has been lined with plastic and some nasty bastard will be making small cuts on a person's body and pouring salt in the wounds for a minor transgression. And no one will say anything because whatever OCG runs the area has it locked down. Imagine the ones that aren't known to anyone close to it and exist at higher levels, where the crooks enjoy friendly relationships with law enforcement? I have enjoyed this series for shining a light on the failures of the "war on drugs" and as they have pointed out, it is a war on people. However, it barely scratches the surface. The City of London (not "Greater London" but the Square Mile where all the yuppies knock about) washes £billions, a decent percentage of it being drug money. We hear about some OCG getting taken down for moving kilos, especially after Encrochat, but can you imagine what happens up the ladder? It is known that many construction projects (as well as any other profitable investments) will have some dirty money put into them. Imagine someone elected to office or even in a cabinet invested in that firm, this means that they are profiting from drug money, as well as other dirty money: the three most profitable black market commodities internationally are drugs, guns and human beings. This money generates billions and filters back into the "legal" financial system. It also pays police, intelligence, prisons, lawyers, judges, investors and so many more. If a nation state has a lot of drug use, then any of them could be considered "narco states". It just depends on how well this corruption is hidden.

The reason that the Netherlands is so much in the news right now, is because all this brazen violence is very new, and thus very shocking. AFAIK, the disappearance of Willem Holleeder (the former kingpin) left a big vacuum that was filled by the Mocra Mafia. They have a very different, much more agressive and violent style of handling business. That new style obviously get much more attention and especially (in my opinion really dumb and counterproductive) attacks on news outlets makes it that EVERYONES attention is focused on you. And thus now the kingspins are captured, since the Dutch police is actually pretty competent. In short; the Netherlands isnt a narco state. And if we keep our eyes open it wont quickly turn into one either,.

Legalize all drugs and get the government to start producing and undercutting the druglords, even if it's at a considerable loss. Make drugs free. Create a free support infrastructure for addicts. Tada! Just like that, goodbye crimelords. The solution is simple. It's the politics that are complicated. Legitimate people in places of power (politicians, business owners, prisons, lawyers, police, military, charities, churches, everyday people who don't want to pay into social programs etc) have vested interests in ilegal activity. They're the ones protecting the criminals. It's like this across the globe in all nations. This isn't a difficult problem to solve. It's just people being greedy assholes.

I actually am from Groningen. It’s not like drugs control the country. But it does have a lot of influence. You can get cocaine faster then ordering a pizza. At school we have a smoking area meant for smoking tobacco. Yet smoking weed with teachers next to you smoking a cig is completely okay. Obviously not everybody does harddrugs. But even that isn’t a no go zone. Especially xtc.

You forgot Belize, Cabo Verde, Montenegro, Laos, Cambodia and a few other well known narco-states. Then there is the narco-octopus state called ITALY in which the boundary between the State and it's 4 main tentacular worldwide mafias is very, very narrow. To the point that nominally drugs are outlaw but in reality any drug can be found easily everywhere, of the best quality in each type, and sometimes directly from the police or their partners.

How is cabo verde a narco state
@ClaudeMagicbox4 жыл бұрын
@@danielmartinssilva3109 You've never been there I guess while I have... It's used as a stocking base by South American narcos since the early 2005. The government is weak and the police is really sparse being a set of small islands but with 2 international airports and flocks of people coming in and out from Europe especially. Traffickers again use it as a stockpile place and move batches of 50-100Kg into the EU via the Canaries (Spain) or directly in Spain. EU authorities are aware since years and in fact have furbished the Cabo Verde govrnment with 4 modern ocean Coast Guard patrol vessels and radar technology already in 2016.

I have been part of the Dutch culture for near 50 years now, although i no longer have any dealings with the country today. I still have a few family members living there. Smoking weed openly back in 1970s. Today drugs have spiralled out of control in a manner that should be of concern to any decent citizen with or without a family. All bad things in this world, drugs, people trafficking, child pornography, and the likes are here to stay. UNTIL" some bright spark finds a way to take away the one thing that creates it . But please can you change your chair set, I honestly think having one tv on a higher stool so it matches the height of the middle tv set would look better. Long chair legs with a tv not facing direct into camera (have like 5 degrees off) with the lead hanging down NOT plugged in but through CG still showing stuff. IMO that would look more classy, on theme and less messy.

The truth is the Netherlands have been something of a naro-state for close to 50 years now. They just aren't as violent as Mexican cartels but of all the countries of Europe the overwhelming amount of hard drug transit points and soft drug manufacture intersect in the Netherlands. It's because the Dutch have written the laws and set up the banking system etc to financially protect these enterprises by making them quasi-legal and affording them a measure of regulation.
