All that money from drugs going into governments instead of dealers pockets. The world would be better off financially and realistically people are either going to take drugs or they're not so the average Joe Public isn't gonna see a difference but the users will benefit from cleaner cheaper drugs and it should reduce things like gang killings, kidnapping and that type of crime related to drug transport and manufacture. It's a win win 🙌

@@BalboaBaggins EXACTLY!!! Also for imperialistic reasons, to increase the political influence and grip over states like Mexico etc. and destabilization of black people and minorities in USA and other states. If it was never meant to be won, of course it didn't work. Imagine a car that isn't built to work but to have a nice design. That doesn't mean you have to change and use horses, make the car better.
@nickn27943 жыл бұрын
@@KarlSnarks Actually Portugal did it without legalization but with decriminalization only, people found with drugs were sent to rehab and they improved education a lot. Consume didn't totally disappear but it was reduced by a lot. Also, if the State doesn't work on the social causes for which people join gangs and take drugs (poverty, mental illness, etc.) mafia will never ever disappear, no matter what. But for a State that can't solve its problems, it's easier to legalize taboo substances than working seriously on poverty, healthcare, minorities.
@KarlSnarks3 жыл бұрын
@@nickn2794 Oh yeah absolutely, Portugal is a good example of a drug policy that works well in fighting addiction. Treating addiction as a disease and not as a crime is an important part of the solution, and prevention, education and welfare are all part of a holistic approach, I'm not denying that. As I understand it, recreational (non-addicted) use did not change much in Portugal, though maybe something changed in the previous years? I think some recreational drug use will always exist because people are curious and pleasure/experience-seeking. Taking it away from the black market will ensure a clean product with added safety-information on the container, excise tax can be used to pay for education and rehab, and we'd need less police.

Countries that have legalized narcotics have the stats to prove the benefit of their solution. Yet most of the worlds goverments still refuse to initiate change, despite the obivious issues. Also the obvious reason the Netherlands has it's drug issues is because they've relaxed their policy stances with drugs and other nations haven't. When others do too, the drug economy won't be as concentrated in one small region. Also you'd eliminate almost all the criminal activity with recreational drugs by legalizing and regulating them.

The truth is the Netherlands have been something of a naro-state for close to 50 years now. They just aren't as violent as Mexican cartels but of all the countries of Europe the overwhelming amount of hard drug transit points and soft drug manufacture intersect in the Netherlands. It's because the Dutch have written the laws and set up the banking system etc to financially protect these enterprises by making them quasi-legal and affording them a measure of regulation.

This is actually really sad when you think about it. I had hoped the Netherlands would do a better job of self governing. I guess across the board decriminalization really is the only answers. Hypothetically if you could bring in some people who truly wanted to protect drug culture and said interests some form of self government could work.
