Yea mid is bit rough position right now. There are 150+ MMR differences in some games so it's kinda hard to do mid since it's rare to play against person of same skill level. Last time I had to play mid I had to go as 1800 against 1930 who counterpicked lol.

Why you not activating your 3rd skill. Do you know its not only passive now?

I know, but it also costs some good chunk of mana. I use it on very rare situations

Why don’t you hot key your upgrade abilities so you don’t have to click them mid fight?

I've been told that before and I'm trying to change that, but it's muscle memory for me at this point haha

As a Dota player? How does this game compare? Never seen it

This game was created based on DotA 1 and to this day it has many similarities, for example, the staff of the master effect is basically like an item called "aganim" or something like that. Many heroes are copy pasta as well (storm spirit is doctor Repulsor, lion is witch slayer, etc). However, with the many balance changes and reworks, it turned into a completely different game. I'd say that a DotA player would learn the mechanics very quickly, but the playstyle and item builds should be very (if not completely) different
