There are issues employing the historical critical method (HCM). HCM is applied based on philosophical assumption of naturalism. It is a secular method developed during the Enlightenment Period shifting from supernaturalism to naturalism. The objective of HCM is to reconstruct what PROBABLY happened in the past events seeking for naturalistic explanation. Supernatural events are the LEAST probable. To put it in blunt terms - these are theories and hypothesis rather than certainty. With this in mind, Muslims and Christians would not accept this method since both religions accept supernaturalism which of course, HCM does not take this into account. Brother Hamza subscribes to Markan Priority. In textial criticism, Markan Priority is a HYPOTHESIS that Mark was first written and Matthew and Luke copied from Mark for their contents. Since Hamza subscribes to this hypothesis - he questions the Christians as to why Matthew who is supposed to be the disciple of Jesus would copy from John Mark who was not an eyewitness but based on Peter's Testimony? The answer is that it was common for scribes to EDIT the changes reflecting what should be the correct reading and updating and not with the intention of copying. This is explained in The Interpreter's Dictionary of The Bible below: "Many thousands of the variants which are found in the MSS of the NT were put there deliberately. They are not merely the result of error or of careless handling of the text. Many were created for theological or dogmatic reasons (even though they may not affect the substance of Christian dogma). It is because the books of the NT are religious books, sacred books, canonical books, that they were changed to conform to what the copyist believed to be the true reading. His interest was not in the "original reading but in the "true reading." This is precisely the attitude toward the NT which prevailed from the earliest times to the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the invention of printing. The thousands of Greek MSS, MSS of the versions, and quotations of the Church Fathers provide the source for our knowledge of the earliest or original text of the NT and of the history of the transmission of that text before the invention of printing." [George Arthur Buttrick (Ed.), The Interpreter's Dictionary Of The Bible, Volume 4, 1962 (1996 Print), Abingdon Press, Nashville, pp. 594-595 (Under Text, NT).] Therefore, I don't think Christians would doubt the authenticity of Matthew just because he supposedly "copied" from Mark. Bear in mind, no Christians ever doubted the authorship of Matthew's Gospel prior to the Enlightenment Period. Rather, they believe in Church attestations. Christians would not take the argument seriously that Matthew copied from Mark. It doesn’t mean anything and quite frankly - Christians could respond and say Matthew is consistent with Peter's Testimony. The point that we should drill into christians is that why would Matthew alter Peter's Testimony if he deemed it reliable?? The only way to dismantle the authorship of the gospels is to expose their traditional accounts from the early Church.

I honestly don't know what Jesus said,, the gospel writers were not contemporary writers of Jesus, they were written anonymously in high level Greek and as Hamza said much has been copied.and it backed up by biblical scholars like Bart Erhman. I also find it interesting that Paul a man who never actually knew Jesus but claimed to have on the road to Damascus has writing so different what Jesus spoke of, infact Paul hardly ever quotes Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew make it very clear what is pleasing to God, it exhorts positive human action to love people to forgive people , it even goes on to say that God wants mercy not sacrifice. Sacrifice is a cop out for Human failings and yes we all fail.
