I don't want to sell it, but I KNOW it will be worth more from year to year, so I know that I'm not burning money here. If you buy a new Sportcar for 100k € it takes maybe 4-5 Years and you lost already 25-35% regarding the price when you want to sell it. Homologation vehicles with real race pedigree that I'd happy cruise at 3k rrpm listening to that sweet RB, and enough kick back when throttle is applied - which can easily be built on. Short answer, yes since there are many people willing to pay those prices. Longer answer, maybe? I think there's a lot that determines a car's value. Whether it's reasonable or not, the car community assigns value or worth to not only the car, but also the owner of a vehicle. Show up to cars and coffee in a super clean Civic or Golf GTI, you get some head nods and a few thumbs up. Show up in a GTR or Supra in almost any condition? People walk up to you, start conversations, follow you on IG, photographers want to shoot your car, etc. If you need that type of exposure for a business or KZbin, then the car may gain you access or influence to grow business that other cars won't. Could definitely be worth 300k in that situation. But from a driving perspective? It's a tough argument to say that the GTR driving experience alone (how the car feels, sounds, etc) is so amazing that it is worth 300k today. Never driven one, but I have a 33 GTR, so presumably similar.

For a low mileage unmolested R34 GTR, you are looking at around $200,000-300,000+ and still having to wait a few more years to even import it into the US. You can spend the same amount of money on a brand new Porsche 911 GT3 or even GT2 RS. The Porsche is faster and more agile than the R34 GTR will ever be plus it's significantly more comfortable to drive. Also, part availability for the R34 GTR is really expensive and very limited. I don't mean performance parts either, but try needing to replace a windshield/window, any interior pieces, or even a window motor. Stuff like that is extremely hard to find which makes the car unappealing for the person that wants to import one and drive it often. The car is just too old and because it was never in the US market, it's a terrible buying decision unless you really are a collector which means the cars will be garage kept and rarely driven.

Seriously, there is no such thing as over- or underrated when it comes to car prices if they sell. The cars are worth what people are willing to pay. A used car price is not related to the cars power, performance, luxury or whatever. It´s related to how much it fulfills the needs of the owner. I personally would take a R34 GTR over any Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini or something similar in a heartbeat so I would also accordingly pay more money for it. If you think the car is not worth the money and that you get more bang for your bucks from a Ferrari 812, Viper ACR, Hurracan STO or whatever... well, than the R34 GTR is just not the car for you. Just because you want something to be cheaper doesn´t mean it´s not worth the money, it´s just not worth the money for you. And if we start to considering whether the driving experience is worth it... well than what´s about a SL300, E30 M3 or a Ferrari 250 GTO? Are their drivingexperience worth the money? Also regarding the statement "They made alot of these", well if you add all ever produced R34 GTRs, Supra MKIVs and first gen Honda NSXs your get fairly close to the production numbers of the E46 M3 and even those are going up in prices dramatically and I bet there are more people actually wanting a R34 GTR than those wanting a E46 M3.
@rikidozan932 жыл бұрын
Production numbers matter to collectors, everyone knows that. What people have a tough time with, I think is that now that it also matters with Japanese sports cars, and people around the world have opened up to it, and since this is something that's a more recent phenomenon, some people must feel like its ridiculous. I think it's just that we've been spoiled by low priced cars from Japan in North America for decades, and so now that the demand is driving the prices ever higher on certain models, most people are in a state of shock.

That being said, this car is not worth 300k, 80k at most, this car is decades old with 90’s technology in it, you can get SOO many better options within that price range. Blame the rich pricks buying this car and storing them until they become legal to sell them at Ferrari prices, you can also blame the middle schoolers hyping this car up to be the best car out there. To be able to afford this car you need Six-Figure income, not only in buying it, but keeping it maintained. This car belongs to the rich man now, instead of the JDM fans who want to drive this car to the fullest, and don’t see this machine as an investment.

(It's not like the muscle car industry etc that has been since the 60's and will never end, the true JDM cars were around for only just over 20 years and it died 20 years ago and will never return again) The next biggest factor is that they are very rare, you don't look at it like there is 11k total of all years and models of R34 GTR, you look at the cars individually in which there were: 1/4200 V spec 1, 1/2700 Series 1, 1/1850 Vspec 2, and 1/1250 Series 2, Then the rest of the other few models are from 1/718 to as low as 1/5. Also what makes the cars so expensive is when they are very low mileage which the mileage is extremely important in valuing the car, you can get a V spec 1 with 250k km in proper condition for $100k USD, or you can get one with 1k km for $300k in which there are probably only a handful at that low of mileage I.e a JDM unicorn basically.

Vspec 2 doesn't have different brakes. It has different colour seats, carbon bonnet
@RoadsUntraveled2 жыл бұрын
2000+ (VSpec II) does have larger rear brakes! Although i'm not sure if the 2000+ standard GTR also has that upgrade.. it might. Also, yes, I didn't mention the carbon :D
@garagelifestyle2 жыл бұрын
It has upgraded suspension, brakes, nicer trimmed seats and door cards, console + trim colour, colour coded engine bay with exterior, extra MFD sensors, carbon fibre bonnet and clear indicators from factory. Nothing was published about rb refinements but speculated.

Short answer is no. They're worth max 50-60k in showroom condition. Average 30-40k. Bad/high mileage less than 20k.

The price gap between the R34 GTT vs the R34 GTR is insane..I would be satisfied with a GTT myself..
@RoadsUntraveled2 жыл бұрын
That's what I did haha. Although there is a massive gap in capability/quality and tech as well. Yes, the GTT had four wheel steering and a few other clever bits on the RB25 NEO that the RB26 doesn't have, but the GTR deserves a large gap in value in my opinion for everything else.. $150k difference though? Not in my books.

200k???? I was offered one for 50k early this yr. It's a mass produced car and you can actually see them in japanese junkyards and they're not exotics. They simply gained traction because of gran turismo game and the fast&furious movies.

I have given this video a “Like” but I can’t stand the fact that “those guys” Charles is referring to have ruined the R34 for most of us. I get it Supply and Demand, free market, and so on. I still don’t like it that a car that should be around $50-60k has been artificially hyped up because there is money to spend at large. R34s have reached exotic car territories when it was never meant to be that. Sucks because by the time they are legal stateside I’ll never be able to buy one = dream crushed 😫

You also have to consider how old are the hoses,parts etc etc that need to be replaced. For that money a r35 is a better deal.

Thats not the mindset anyone has when buying a 90's jdm car. If you have a problem replacing hoses then you probably don't need a r35 either lol

People buy Picasso for millions and Chanel bags for 10s of thousands of dollars... The question isn't what you or anyone else thinks it is worth because that is biased to circumstances. The market figures out its own price.. a better question would be of you had 5million dollars would you pay 300k+ for a r34. And fuck yeah I would, so would all the people saying ITS WOrtH 60k MaXxx. 300k is a drop in the ocean to the amount of money on the world. This is an international car. Good quality ones are limited af. 1300 f40s and 1800 v spec ii's. Yes mate they're rare. 10k production is very very limited. 1k examples to each major country, half.of which aren't collectable grade.

What website you use to get a r34
@pmodd2 жыл бұрын
It's just hype and collector's pricing. I've driven an R34GTT and it's nothing special, with the GTR being the same chassis/interior with AWD. You do not get a comparable feeling of quality in the interior as even the average modem family car. Not a fan of the seating position compared to other sports cars of the time, for I stance Silvias, and the boot isn't very spacious. I liked the steering rack though; it turned very smooth and the low end torque made it quite pleasant to drive around town. Obviously the RB sounds great on boost, so it had that going for it too.
@stacked9112 жыл бұрын
What auction website is that? Thx!
@Zonda19962 жыл бұрын
It used to be an affordable drivers car you could easily modify, now it’s a joke. Actual enthusiasts are being priced out of ownership so corporate fatcats can stow them away in garages, never to be driven. Kinda disgraceful really, but with so few being produced to begin with the price hike was inevitable. Bring me back to the mid 2000s I’ll buy 3 lmao

Japanese cars are a market where it's affordable to purchase but now it just makes more sense to just buy a hellcat or a Lambo for about that pricing... Love the cars of all japanese makers we grew up watching or playing in videogames but the market for them are ridiculously but ppl still willing to pay for them ridiculous pricing too, can't hate on the trend if ppl are willing to pay their life savings on them

It’s not worth 300k. I probably wouldn’t even pay 100k. All the 90s skylines are rather plain looking cars. The main reason I’d get any skyline is to have an RB25 or 26. Not to have some crazy special and expensive car. I have a bolt ons evo 9 that makes all the cool noises and I didn’t over pay for it. Im just happy I have an old school jdm car at all the way prices have gone up.
