THAT WAS A GREAT REVIEW!!! I love everything you just said!! I personally use the NKJV and love it!! I actually started in the NLT, But the church I go to uses the KVJ so I needed a good middle man 😂 And its been great for me personally! Its helped grow my knowledge in the Lord to eventually inspire me to create a KZbin of my own!! Granted its nothing special but its been the most full-filling experience of my life so far! Amen brotha 🙏🏻 Keep up the great work!! I love the channel!!

People! This man needs more subs. The set-up alone warrants more subs! 🤣🤣 In all seriousness, I love the NKJV. I grew up believing in the KJV only, but as I got older, I expanded my horizons and checked out NKJV and now I love reading the ESV and in school we used NASB for scripture reading during worship. Great video, mah brother!

Great video! I had used the NKJV for years as my main translation. I've recently switched to the ESV for base text reasons, and to not have to frequently bounce back and forth from the footnotes and text for the other text readings. But still the NKJV alongside the ESV and NASB when i study.

I found my home in the NKJV when a pastor friend recommended the NKJV in 1985, the year it came out. He basically said, setting aside the readability of the NIV , He’d go with the accuracy of the NKJV , every time. I’ve tried other translations, but the NKJV has all the bells and whistles.

I grew up with the KJV and memorized many verses in KJV. The NKJV has a similar cadence and I feel at home. Thus, the NKJV is my translation of choice with the ESV and the NASB right next to it. I agree with you concerning the ESV's lack of italics. This was a misstep for Crossway in my opinion. For serious students of the Bible, it is helpful to know what words have been added to the English translation to help with flow and context. You mentioned you wish there was a translation that was a blend of the NKJV and the ESV. Have you looked at the Modern English Version (MEV). It is the newest translation based on the Texus Receptus and was developed by Charisma House, so it should be accepted in your circle of church. Thanks for your videos. You do a great job!

I’ve been reading the KJV since elementary school and at 55, it is still my main translation. I read and compare a variety of translations. I really like the NKJV, NASB95, and HCSB. Once in a while, I’ll use the NIV, NLT, and ASV1901. For bibles older than the KJV, I read Tyndale’s 1526 New Testament, 1537 Mathew’s Bible, and the 1560 Geneva Bible.

I'm curious on what do you mean by false Friends words LOL
@69telecasterplayer5 жыл бұрын
@@TheWordNerd These are words that have changed their meanings over the years such as how the simple word, "let" is used. Many King James bibles include a dictionary for words that have such archaic meanings. If we know how these meanings have changed then we can avoid being tripped up by them. We KJV lovers have an extra layer to get through before we get the meaning that the translators had in mind.

Wonderful video. Yes we would love more translation videos. I am an NASB/RSV/ESV guy. Very recently I came across the CEB (Not CSB) translation and to my surprise was quite impressed by it. I use NKJV for my personal reading and study but I still read KJV and compare it and I still understand clearly. I think NKJV and KJV is good to me and works for my understanding, as long as you keep God’s word in your heart, that’s all that matters.

Thanks for your video. I tried the ESV and it was a frustrating experience for me. In places it sounds like Yoda. The NASB seems smoother and more elegant. That being said I enjoy the KJV. One advantage is you don't have to buy a new Bible every time some publisher decides to update the text. The KJV is a personal choice, not a knock on your choice or viewpoint. I look forward to seeing your video on your new Cambridge wide margin ESV.

Thanks for the review. I've been using the NKJV in my daily/nightly M'Cheyne 1 year Bible reading plan. Into my 5th year of the plan, and I've used a different English translation every year. At 70 years old, with 35 years of Bible reading under my belt, I have read most of the mainline translations. Currently my favorite is the NRSV. I"ve only been using that for devotional reading and study, as a supplement to the NKJV M'Cheyne plan, for the past couple of months. I like it better than the ESV. If you can run across a copy give it a try. There are some choices the translators made that I think are 'unfortunate', but I think it is more accurate than most of what's out there.

So far I've only read through maybe 1/4-1/5 of the KJV, but I can count the words I've had to look up on the fingers on one hand. The NKJV is hands down my favourite translation, and I have read substantial amounts from (quite often most of) most translations! I found it intriguing how we can all think so differently, and so be it, we’re not all meant to be mimics of one another, as long as we are grounded in Biblical truth. Where you said the NKJV is a good transition FROM the KJV. I actually think of the NKJV as a good transition TO the KJV of the Bible - which I love too! I like the ‘old’ language, and the more I read it the more I love it! And the more I understand and glean.

The NKJV is one of the my 4 favorite translations. I think it's the best translation for close study due to its generous use of manuscripts notes in both the Old and New Testament. To me the NKJV seems to be more literal than the ESV and NASB in many places. It seems that the perception of the NASB being the "most literal" translation is super overstated the more I compare passages in my reading. But be that as it may, the NKJV, ESV, CSB, and NASB are the best 4 overall translations available in my humble opinion. Special shout out to the NIV as well.

I don’t read nor speak 17th century english, though the KJV does have several verses that sound great in KJV. I think my rapidly marked up NKJV is marvelous for clarifying NIV when I find something in NIV that I just can’t accept. I use NIV a lot for its plain English. But I think I should use ESV more for that. I did chose NKJV after a lot of thought and pray. At least in English KJV was the first real collection of the Word of God. NKJV just updated it so my modern mind could understand stand. 500 hundred years from know (assuming Christ hasn’t returned yet) my NKJV will probably be considered impossibly old fashion.

Don't get caught up in what others say. I'm about 50/50 NKJV and KJV and I'd be hard pressed to say that the NKJV misses the mark. I do however miss the thous, thees and ye's. I would really just like to have a KJV like the NKJV but with the thee's, thou's and ye's. The NKJV finishes what feels like incomplete sentences in the KJV. For instance: Romans 7:19-20 NKJV For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. [20] Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. Romans 7:19-20 KJVS For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I don't think the NKJV misses the mark here but adds to it.

Why I use the NKJV. I prefer to use both Greek sources. The Byzantine, TR and the Alexandrian, or Critical textual sources. For my carrying and casual reading I prefer a bible with the TR as its source. The NKJV and back are those bibles. I like the 1599 GENEVA Bible. The Bishops bible. The Tyndale 1537 New Testament. The last bible to use that source is the NKJV. I also have and use critical text bibles. ESV, NASB95, SCSB, NRSV. It boils down to my proclivity of wanting to have the more data, and then my wanting to pick out the wheat from the tares. William Tyndale's NT is wonderful! His notes are there too! Its called THE OCTOBER TESTAMENT.

Nothing wrong with any faithful translation, though the textual basis of most modern Bibles are generally inferior. Unfortunate. We need a good modern translation based on the genuine majority of texts, rather than a couple of questionable texts without a real provenance, but that are presumed to be ancient, and that have many errors. We came close with the HCSB, but then Art Farstad passed away and his successor decided to use the so-called Eclectic Text, i.e. the NA/UBS text. The Reformation text, other than that of the Complutensian Polyglot, which wasn't used by the English Reformation Bibles, approaches the majority text, but not quite, it has many additions from the Old Latin that don't really belong there. Frankly I wonder sometimes what purpose the HCSB/CSB serves, with the me-too textual approach.
@genetyler28893 жыл бұрын
While I agree the main modern translations we find in Evangelical churches are good, even excellent, and I wouldn't dissuade anyone from using them, especially if that person has to read one for a Bible class or his church uses. It certainly isn't worth causing divisions over or leaving a church over. Yet I don't agree a reader needs to "update" to one of those translations if a person loves the language and majestic poetry of the KJV or NKJV and is reading it in his own devotion time. I find it odd students read "Romeo and Juliet" in high school without too great an effort; yet, somehow, struggle with the KJV as if they are reading Beowulf in the original Old English without glosses. Side note: update sounds too Bible of the Month Club mentality-- too prone to the seduction of marketing. When a Bible reader sits down with a KJV, he is reading the same words John Wesley, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, General Booth, and Aimee Semple McPherson were moved by The Holy Spirit while reading.

@@PastorPeewee20 Scofield and his reference notes were heretical. The holy scriptures by the mouth of God prophesied what and when the things were to happen. They would in no way be way out 2000 years in the future. In fact many times Jesus Himself said that the things He prophesied were to happen in that generation, the one that was literally physically standing in front of Him. He said that even His coming was to occur while some of His disciples were still alive. MT 16:27,28. MT 10:23. Scofield believe that all these things would be way out in the future, which completely destroys the integrity, validity, and truth of God's word. Futuristic dispensationalism comes through this man's Reference Bible printed for the first time in 1909. It came from the teachings of Charles Nelson Darby beginning in 1831. The scriptures do not teach this point of view. I'm guessing you won't agree with this, but I do ask that you at least look up both Charles Nelson Darby and C.I. @@PastorPeewee20 I agree with you as well that the scriptures are indeed the same. The problem is that the Scofield notes introduce a false, futurist, dispensational interpretation of the scriptures, which they do not teach. Case in point: MT 16:27,28 clearly says that the coming of the Lord would occur while some of His disciples were still alive. Yet Scofield's notes would differ from that, teaching a yet future fulfillment, defiling the scriptures. Scofield was a heretic and has done more harm to the modern Church than any other single person in history.

@@InfinitelyManic my preference is to use them. in light of john 8 when Jesus said I am, and the jewish leaders knew He meant I am YHWH & sought to stone Him. so in John 18 He says I am and the arresting party fell to the ground by the power of the statement leaves me to wonder why more is not made of it. some i know do not know the significance of the italicized words. those that do don't make much either. i do know this, i will if left up to me always keep a KJV, NKJV, or NASB in my library because they carry the italics

KJV the same as the NKJV in the KJV Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind one of things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceit. For the NIV Romans 12:16 live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate what people of lower pasition. Do not be conceited. I'll stay with the NIV.

I enjoy the language of the NKJV so poetic without the anachronisms of KJV, currently I use mostly the ESV and when I need help fleshing out the text I use the message( easy to read language), I also appreciate the NASB for pointy academic points, I have a bunch of translations and NKJV is amongst my favorites. I would also like to see your pov on various translations beyond ESV, NASB and NKJV. Love your channel

@jesusnameaboveallnames60484 жыл бұрын
@@thumper5832 I say they're really just mocking the language of the day the KJV was written. No one talks that way anymore. If they were mocking God's word they would be mocking the concepts that God portrayed. This is 2 different things. They are really only highlighting the fact that it is old, out of date, language. If we were really supposed to completely defend the language that God's word is, then you should be upset that someone translated it into KJV from original texts.

For years I used the KJV as my main text to study the scriptures and used other Bible translations for comparing verses and passages I found difficult. Now I'm using the ESV as my main text and other translations to cross reference. In fact you got me converted to using the ESV Jason lol I love it so much.

Have you looked into the MEV? It's a beautiful read, same style as KJV but so much more readable.
@shirleygoss19885 жыл бұрын
L. Bryant. The MEV is a good version to read. That said, I do not think it can touch the NKJV.! As an aside, I do not care for the more gender neutral versions, although I use some for reference. I have most all English versions on my phone. I really really dislike the Message paraphrase. It doesn't feel like scripture to me.

Great video! I totally understand the ‘sounds more spiritual’ thing. I’m a NKJV guy, partly for that very reason. Some of the verses by the NKJV seems to better capture the intent of the writer (at least in my opinion). Compare 1John 3:1 for example, the NKJV is just beautiful in comparison to the ESV. The ESV text sounds as if John is half asleep 😁

As a pastor, I transitioned a church from using the KJV to the NKJV. As with any translation, there are issues. By in large it is a great modern King James version that stays relatively close to the text and is easier. I still use it in my preaching today. If I go to a church (not knowing which translation they use), I can get by with the NKJV even though they are still KJV OR use the newer translations. What I mean is that it would be accepted in both venues. When someone asks me, "Which translation is the best?" My replay every time is, "What ever translation you will read." If people won't read the Bible because it is difficult to read or understand, then whatever translation they are using is not good for them. Get a translation that you will read and READ THE BIBLE! Most Christian's problem today is not a translation issue. It is simply that they just don't read the Bible.
