I think the great challenge table tennis faces as a spectator sport is that it is a small table and ball. We may need to think outside the box in creating table tennis events that draw new people to the sport. We can do it!

As a player, and still learning, I prefer the angle…where I can easily see player’s technique. And it is the side angle. You can see both players doing serve, forehand, backhand, flick, topspin…and so on. With the view from the back, you only see one player…and the back of the other. With this angle also, you can’t appreciate the speed of the ball.

Interesting point of view! The controversy continues growing among the community. We shall see what WTT will do. I'm almost sure the Olympics will have the old camera angle. What do you think? Where are you from?

Some speculate that they changed the angle to see the sponsors better. Money talks.

It's a valid point as well. We need more sponsors on table tennis. Sponsors who are not equipment companies.

I personally don't mind what angle is used as long as replays/highlights show another angle of the key points

Understood but the great majority likes more the old angle. For the future of the table tennis the new angle seems better. Thank you.

I don't think you raised any good points. If your argument was correct, Tennis would be more popular from a side angle. Realistically, if tennis switched angle they would lose most viewers and they would watch something else instead. The only thing that matters to viewers is clarity and understanding, not what view they might have in the stadium. There is a reason no racket sport has the side main viewing angle. I challenge you to name one. As for attracting more spectators, this is a complex topic so maybe for another video. But it's probably linked to how many people play at a competitive level.

First of all, Thank you for replying. Do you see how controversial the topic is? The whole video is just a speculation as I said. we need an *official explanation* from the organizers to really understand WHY they switched. I agree when you said "The only thing that matters to viewers is clarity and understanding". And that is WHY camera angle is important. If you have a good angle you can understand easier. When you go to the stadium you chose your favorite angle. The seat you chose will affect how much entertaining you get. I also agree "if tennis switched angle they would lose most viewers ". This is happening with table tennis also. As I mentioned in the video: Most of viewers (current table tennis fans) like the old angle and the huge majority are former players, players, coaches. I don`t know what is the opinion of a general public (who does not play table tennis) . A research is needed. I believe #wtt and #ittf have a lot of good professionals who understand much better then me and if they decided to have the Side Camera Angle is for a good reason. They are trying hard to make the table tennis more attractive to everyone. They should have some data. A challenge is not needed, I do not know any sport that has the side View . If you are open to a talk, would be great to extend our discussion. Just rewatch the video. I said that "This is just speculation "Let me know please. Than
