I had always thought they were a European company (founder was Norwegian), but lo and behold they started in Chicago and are now located in Kenosha Wisconsin, a few miles away from me. I drive by there all the time and keep meaning to stop in and see if I can get a tour. Oh, and their airbrushes are great for the money 😋👍

I have used the Talon for years. I actually prefer it over my Iwata eclipse, so much so that I stopped using the Iwata altogether . Replacement tips and needles are far cheaper than the Iwata as well.

I bought a paasche talon and paasche compressor yesterday for my first airbrush kit, to use on Diecast Customs, i watched this video beforehand and the reviews elsewhere were awesome also, so i bought a complete setup. I use rattle cans presently so I'm anxious to start using my talon.

Keep in mind the trigger has a rounded and a square surface, the rounded surface should face the Bowl/Cup when installing! The Paasche Talons real benefit is the very cheap parts, everything Mechanical needs parts eventually, cheap and easy to get! I really like my Talons, they have been very robust and dependable, like any Airbrush the nozzle size dictates the kind of paint used!

I'm so happy that I found this video, this is the airbrush that I'm learning to airbrush with! Sometimes it's easy to forget what it's like to be a rank beginner, and let me tell you that the intimidation factor of cleaning and disassembling combined with psi, technique, and proper thinning makes the learning curve for these feel STEEP.

Just got this brush yesterday. I went for the set mostly for the fan tip and .66 tip. holy crap this is a very underrated brush. I ended up playing with all 3 tips and the fan cap for a couple of hours just having a blast with it. I too am embarrassed I overlooked this brush or passed it over just because of being a airbrush snob. I would recommend this brush to anyone and especially to a beginner. The set was 98 bucks, and I can honestly say it's the best 100 bucks I've spent in quite a while. On a different note, its awesome to see your channel growing and am honored to be a part of it.

One other thing. the coolest part of the paasche brushes is each needle, nozzle and cap is marked. If you look on your needle, nozzle and cap. You'll see two grooves on each part signifying it's the .38 . The .25 has one groove and the .66 has three. this makes it so easy to keep track of the right parts.

I know, right?! It's such a great airbrush and I just passed it up over the years. The big cup is really useful for large areas, and I prefer it for this type of brush. Idk if this is the same on other brushes but be careful when screwing the nozzle, mine snapped one day when I was screwing it in normally. Wasn't using much force at all but it got stuck so tight that I can't get the broken bit out. Amazon offered a refund but it's a pity because the I got it on sale and the price has gone up a lot

@@mcrksman I haven't had that problem yet although the nozzle threads did seem a little tight. I always use a touch of ChapStick on threads when putting back together to help lube and seal. Hope you get it all sorted out.

The 3 head set is a great all in one solution. If you need a small cup version, the raptor and juvel are parts compatible as is the vision. I think vision only gets you a mac valve and probably the smaller nozzle. But yeah finish on body is a bit inconsistent.

this was an outstanding vid. I got a Talon about a year ago and am ready to use for scale modeling. Your comment about thick paint was very comforting but that is not to say I do not thin my paints but you have to thin metallics very carefully. Thanks again and can;t wait to see the rest of your vids. Thank you for your knowledge and most especially your time and consideration for us.. You're the best.! thanks again...

Hey thanks so much! Yes, those metallics can be very tricky to spray well. A larger nozzle of .5 or more helps a lot for metalics and flake paints.

First I must say; each person will find which brush feels and works for them.. I have Iwata 2 different ones. And 2 Paaasche and even had an Astec years ago. I pulled out my New Talon omg I love it . Although I started with Paasche, so I think it’s what you get used to. Practicing the techniques is what makes it happen. Some on the airbrush, but most on the user. All in all I love the Talon . The tips get a bit to get used to from regular ones. And a tip: if it’s not working right just get in you head to break down and reclean 9 x out of 10 that’s usually the problem. Love this brush.

I've got a Paasche Raptor that I swapped out the .25 needle nozzle set for the visions .2 needle (fyi.. not a major difference) but I love it. Before I bought it I saw sooooo many bad reviews of paasche brushes. I almost never bought one, but I'm glad I did. Idk why paasche gets a bad wrap but in my experience the talon/raptor/vision brushes are very good. Is there better brushes out there, sure, but you get a lot for what you pay for Paasche. Probably one of the most versatile lines on the market imo, and on par with any of the major brands such as badger, gsi creos, iwata, or grex.

I’ve had this brush for a year now , it’s treating me well, but it’s not what I was looking for when I’m going for detail,I dont know what it is I just can’t get over with this airbrush maybe the cup but I had to put it aside when it comes to detail I even have all sized tip for it,so I use it now mainly for spraying bigger, ticket items and for coverage nothing for detail, but it is a reliable airbrush, I even picked up the Pasche vision with a Mac valve, and seeing if that would help me get over whatever it was, but same issue, I still use them from time to time, but nothing for any detail work that I’m looking to do these days.
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
i think you're right about the cup getting in the way for detail work. One of the reasons I prefer side feeds or small paint cups. It does spray very well and I have no problem getting good detail out if it, but like you I'm using it for larger applications that need coverage. Seems to be best suited for that.

I've used this airbrush for about 4 years now. And I still can't tell if it is me that is stupid or if it is the airbrush that is the problem. When it sprays good it's great, but sometimes I have wasted a whole night just trying to get it to spray good. I often nearly fully disassemble it to clean it, cleaning out the barrel, the nozzle, the needle, the spring assembly. Everything. And still it is a gamble whether it will give me good results. I usually thin to a consistency close to thick ink or milk. I don't know if I have boogered up my needle (I occasionally gently run the tip, while rolling, across a sanding stick to remove any bends or burs), but I often have spray patterns that are more of a line than a circular pattern. One thing to be careful of. I think I may have actually damaged my nozzle while cleaning recently. When reassembling, the rear screw that limits how far back you can pull the trigger should be backed out. If it is threaded all the way forward when you screw it in it can jam the needle into the nozzle farther than it should go. I didn't know this can happen, but it doesn't spray right anymore. Replacement parts have sort of been hard to get lately. Don't trust Amazon when buying needles. I tried to replace my TN-2 needles (0.38mm) ~2 years ago and they sent me the wrong one claiming it was the correct one. Sprayed awful until I just went back to my original needle. I don't want to hate on this brush, but I have had a lot of issues and it sometimes seems random when it will work good and when it won't. And I clean mine pretty good with a cleaning kit almost every time after spraying or before. I even drip Tamiya Airbrush cleaner down the nozzle and use airbrush pipe cleaners and gently push caked up paint out with needle and still it sprays weird. I very well may have done something wrong, maybe early on when I bought it, but it has forever been a gamble with this brush for me.
@LemurKrazy
@LemurKrazy Жыл бұрын
You need to turn the head until it's mid way between too tight and too loose against the o-ring. The head has an optimal distance it needs to sit around the nozzle. Mike's Brush discovered this.

Have a raptor on the way - should arrive early next week. No difference besides smaller cup and all parts are interchangeable. Juvel body is same as the raptor as well but marketed for makeup art and no handle cutaway. Can recommend the Vision trigger if you can find one - makes the Talon feel a lot better.

Arrived in the same blister pack as talon in the video - no accesories, just the number 1 setup (0.25mm from memory) Feels lighter and balance is perfect with the small cup. Opening to cup is small so cleaning a little trickier but pinkie fits. Otherwise Identical to gravity feed Talon. One thing I did notice is a slight click when moving the trigger back in the last quarter if motion - might be the spring or trigger catching on something.
