Coming up now on almost a month on My 2024 Rock Creek and Love Her! We weren't looking for all that luxury components and the RC is perfect. 🙌👍

Test drove both the Rock Creek and the Platinum…found the RC slightly more floaty compared to the Platinum which makes sense as its suspension is tuned for more off road performance…but definitely not bad and probably not noticeable if were not comparing. RC is great, the one big issue is the front passenger seat sits low and cannot be raised. Problem if your passenger is not tall. Also, definitely not deal breaker, but unfortunately infotainment screen is smaller 8” unit (unlike SL and Platinum 9”) and is not wireless like others. Too bad RC can’t be a “package” for other trims. Did a 700 mile trip in a SL prior to test drives…great vehicle…and seats are excellent.

Nice! Glad to hear it! I’ll say that Megan didn’t agree with my complaints about the top trim ride, so I’d encourage buyers to do what you did and test them both. I think the Pathfinder remains a bit of an underrated three-row that you’re more likely to find wiggle room on the price than you are on a new Pilot for example. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I am deciding between 2024 Platinum and Rock Creek trim. Ultimately, I feel like the Rock Creek trim is an OK dollar value but is missing a few key features that sadly take it off the list for us as we have 2 different drivers and we occasionally want to be able to sleep 2 people inside vehicle when doing light camping/adventuring. I realize I can get SL trim for better value than Platinum, but do like some of the Platinum exclusive features (e.g. ventilated seats, memory seats, etc.). If I could get a Rock Creek with the features below for a price point lower than Platinum, that would be my ideal build! I am curious if others would like for these features to be available on a Rock Creek trim as well? 1. Second-row bench seat option (best for overnight sleeping/camping in vehicle and for K9 companions riding in second row) 2. Ability to adjust passenger seat height (should have same adjustments and power as driver's seat) 3. Memory system option for driver's seat, wheel and mirror settings (our 2 driver's are very different height) 4. Wireless Apple CarPlay connection 5. Heated steering wheel 6.120-volt AC power outlet 7. Premium audio system 8. Rear sunshades 9. HomeLink Universal Transceiver

I drove the Platinum first and then Rock Creek. I preferred the ride of the RC and found the seats to be more to my liking - maybe one of the most supportive seats I have sat in. I can't wait for a long road trip to test. I found the Platinum was paying more for tech I didn't want or need. I wish you could upgrade to the Bose audio. Better speakers can help, but you should be able to get a stereo system option. That being said, I do think the RC is the sweet spot for the Pathfinder. I think the Platinum is trying to be luxurious but falls short. If im going to be in the $50k range, there may be better options in Infinity, Kia, or Genesis. Why not pay a little more and get better luxury?

That’s the main problem: While the Pathfinder is quite good in many ways, for the same price other brands are doing it a little better. The Pilot is more spacious and drives better, the Palisade gives you ALL the features for the money, and the Grand Highlander comes as an efficient hybrid.

Interesting that she mentioned the steering wheel spoke that prevents gripping the wheel at the bottom. I agree! Some manufacturers make wheels that allow it, many do not. For the ones that don't, I can only wonder if they are just that oblivious to what people want that it didn't occur to them, or if they feel it's a safety issue and would rather lose sales than permit drivers to grip the wheel at the bottom.

Not that many people would refuse to buy a vehicle just for that reason, but when shopping, no vehicle's perfect (although they could be if manufacturers would pull their heads outta... lol) so it comes down to adding up all the little things that make a difference.

I’m not sure reason, but Megan loves when she can rest her hands on the bottom of the wheel. Check out our Ioniq5 review to see her totally obsess over it 😂

We both found a lot to like here, and it’s pretty comprehensive for $45k, so I guess that made us more forgiving 😂

The Platinum has a HUD. Can't get it in the RC. Unfortunately the Platinum puts the digital speedo off to the right side of the instrument cluster, instead of centered where it belongs.

i test drove the rock creek today and the steering was really stiff and thr gas pedal felt like it was on a wire. the gas pedal had no play. when i press thr gas pedal i dont feel anything. did u guys notice that?
@jax1079

Megan did. She didn't love some of the driver inputs and specifically mentioned that she felt as though the steering was too stiff for a vehicle like that. It didn't bother me, though. I do think if you're looking for the best in ride/handling balance, the new Pilot is probably tops, the Highlander hybrid is the most efficient, and the Palisade gives you the most for your money. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

I agree, we are in the age of car manufactures experimenting with the minimalist knobs to put your car in park, drive, reverse and emergency brake. SUPPER ANNOYING!

Megan obviously agrees with you, but I’d tend to agree as well. There’s no reason to reinvent the wheel. Either a traditional shifter or clearly labeled and intuitive buttons to save console space (like in the current Tahoe). But making a shifter a design element of sorts is stupid.
