The PSVR 2 uses eye tracking to determine what areas of the screen can be rendered at a lower resolution. Basically, it's always rendering the highest resolution wherever you are looking. Everything in the periphery can be blurry and you won't notice.

I think you are probably the first person I've seen to provide a legitimate reason for the PS5 Pro to exist. As you said, when looking at the screen captures its almost impossible to tell the difference (especially for most people who will be using this console 3-4 meters away on their couch) but when your eyeball is smooshed up against the screen it becomes much easier to see the better detail.

a couple notes to consider, dawid. the psvr2 has eye tracking, so the edges of the screen are blurry because its rendering where you ARENT looking at a lower res. its a very cool technology and its basically free performance. secondly, no, the no man sky controls arent bad. that's all i had to say lol.

Despite the eye tracking hardware, not all the titles support dynamic foveated rendering. I think the "enhanced" titles he tested here do, and No Man's Sky probably does it best.

I've actually heard these headsets are comfortable for glasses wearers. I bypassed the need for glasses and just got some prescription lens inserts for my quest 3. The same can be done for psvr2

When they first announced it, I predicted that it would sell a bit, but quite poorly compared to the base PS5. Perhaps one tenth of its sales numbers, or even less. I have yet not seen anything during these months that would have made me want to change that prediction. The PS4 Pro felt like a genuine upgrade compared to the base PS4. In fact, many where saying that it's almost like half-way to the next-gen consoles after the PS4, and I agree with that (I still have my PS4 Pro, which I traded my base PS4 for). While perhaps not an entire generation worth of improvement, it was still quite an improvement. It helped significantly that the PS4 Pro actually had the same launch price than the base PS4, so if you were buying a PS4 for the first time, it made literally no sense to not buy the Pro version: Same price, much more performance. (Ok, by that point the price of the base PS4 had obviously dropped a bit, but still. It made very little sense not to go for the Pro, unless you were really budget-limited.) The PS5 Pro does not feel like a genuine upgrade from the base PS5. It wouldn't feel so even if its launch price were the same as the latter's. However it costing almost double does in no way justify the extremely moderate improvement in hardware. If you already own a PS5 it doesn't make much sense to buy the PS5 Pro (unless you are a super-rich "whale" who always wants the latest and greatest and don't care about price). If you are buying a PS5 for the first time, the quite modest difference in hardware makes the base version much more enticing, given how much cheaper it is.
