It is not overkill if your work is paying off the cost of the camera and generates income. Excellent work.

Any lens' youd recommend for the Komodo? Currently shooting on the a7siii's with the gm 12-24, but going to sell one of my bodies and buy a komodo kit for my more premium real estate videos. Awesome video!
@GuillaumeCornetfilms Жыл бұрын
The one I used in this video is good enough for real estate and a lot cheaper than the 12-24!

Hi, great video, congratulations! I also own a Komodo and am looking for a workhorse lens. I wonder which lens do you think is better to start with: Tokina 11-20mm F2.8 or the classic Sigma Art 18-35mm F1.8? Thanks in advance!
@GuillaumeCornetfilms3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Both lenses are quite different, the Tokina is a ultra wide while the Sigma is a bit more middle range zoom therefore it will depend on the kind of use you plan on having. If real estate, then the Tokina for sure. If story telling and a bit of everything, the sigma is a great "good at everything" type of lens for the price. Considering that I'm also using the V-raptor now as well, I'm probably going to swap my Tokina for a full frame ultra wide instead that can work on both cameras.

Isn't the dynamic range on Komodo better due to 16 bit Raw footage versus Sony is 12 bit ProResRaw or 10 bit Slog3?
@GuillaumeCornetfilms2 жыл бұрын
I'm not knowledgeable enough to be able to provide an accurate answer on that but I'd say bit depth definitely matters but I'd also say that the sensor would play a big part on the DR

I use the komodo with the Laowa 7.5mm T2.9 Zero-D S35 Cine. You should try that. It's a killer combo.

Also was wondering what tripod and slider you were using for this shoot?
@GuillaumeCornetfilms2 жыл бұрын
Tripod is just a standard manfrotto, not sure of the model. The slider is a syrp magic carpet but wouldn't recommend it as I'm pretty disapointed with it
@rMr.big13 Жыл бұрын
Do you promist filter with your Sonys as well for real estate?
@GuillaumeCornetfilms Жыл бұрын
The polarpro mattebox is lens mounted so it doesn't matter what camera you're using. I usually mount it on my sony GM 24-70 but note that it won't work on lenses like the 12-24 due to the wide angle
@rMr.big13 Жыл бұрын
@@GuillaumeCornetfilms yeah, I get that but I’m asking specifically about the pro mist filter
@creativegreats69242 жыл бұрын
What kind of slider are you using on the tripod ? And what did you buy to prevent it from bending ?
@GuillaumeCornetfilms2 жыл бұрын
using a syrp magic carpet which I don't recommend, reason why I haven't mentioned the brand. The supports I bought are 2 arms that clamp on the tripod and connect the slider that I found for $20 on ali express. Super cheap but does an okay job

Great work man!! What frame rate would you shoot the Komodo on with a gimbal ? And what is the full frame equivalent of the tokina 11-20 on the Komodo?
@GuillaumeCornetfilms3 жыл бұрын
Frame rate depends of the type of filming. I'd tend to shoot in slow mo on a gimbal because that means I can move a bit faster and slow down in post. However, you need to be mindful of lights flickering. The komodo doesn't do 50 in 6K 17:9 which means I would either need to use a smaller aspect ratio ( I believe 2:1 would allow 6K50) or go down to 5K or 4K but then it means cropping on the sensor quite a bit and losing the wide field of view I'm after doing real estate. I believe that compared to a FF, their is a 1.2x crop on the Komodo
@bobbystefano3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Guillaume! What's even more amazing is that you are using a lens that only cost $400!
@GuillaumeCornetfilms3 жыл бұрын
The lens is far from perfect, especially compared to the Sony GM 12-24, but I'm yet to find a great wide angle to mount on the KOmodo :)

What tripod did you use for the slider? And batteries for komodo?

Tripod is Manfrotto, not sure what exact model. I'm using a Vlock Ligthpro battery that powers the Komodo and the monitor

in the end you will render video at 4k, if you use your Sony a7siii you will get less time of work coz autofocus but i don't think you can crop the image like 6k. by the way nice video bro keep going.
@GuillaumeCornetfilms3 жыл бұрын
I talk about both these topics. I do a lot of cropping in post and the 6K comes handy. Also 6K downsampled to 4K will often be sharper than 4K exported in 4K. Way more details. I don't use auto focus for real estate (with the Komodo nor with the Sony) because chances are it will focus on the wrong thing. Since I shoot between F5-F9, most of the frame is in focus but I don't want to take the risk to let the camera decide if it should focus on the background or on the plant at the foreground

As you mention, it depends in the project. TBH, I am happy with my GH5. Properly lit, even at dusk,the color is fine for an average house. The advantage of an Arri or Red is you can talk your client into hiring you by telling them your camera is used by this or that Hollywood film. All things being equal, that can sell a client.
@GuillaumeCornetfilms3 жыл бұрын
That what I thought, but it's not exactly true. Most of my clients used to not have any idea of what a RED was and didn't really care if this was shot on a cinema camera because what mattered to them was that it looked okay and most of all, they were price sensitive. And like you very truely said, a cheaper mirrorless/dslr would be the perfect fit for these projects. However I have learnt that I rarely convince a potential client to hire me over someone else because I've got a RED. When I use it on a shoot it's either because they like my style and want to work with me and have got a big enough budget with which I'll be happy to use the RED (more for me and my willingness to up the production than for them because they don't care of what tool I'm using). Those clients are actually some of the bests to work with and wouldn't even care if I filmed with an iphone. Or it's because they are looking for a DOP with a RED for more specific type of prod in which case they already know what can be achieve and I don't need to convince them. Hope that makes sense :)
