The rank system is terrible, especially solo queuing 3s. I don't care about my rank I care about the skill level of games I am playing in and from game to game their are just some terrible players that don't belong in the lobby

Fr. Im c2 in 2s and d2 in 3s. Like solo queuing 3s is the worst. I try to adapt to how they play but they just can’t position well enough or double commit

Interested, I find 3s easiest to rank up in. Gc1 in 3s and c2/3 in 2s. I get how’s 3s can get real hectic real quick, but I’d highly recommend paying attention to who’s last man. This applies to 2s as well but I find a LOT of people are too willing to rush in for a challenge/give up good position versus playing it patient/waiting for their teammate to rotate before rushing in/adding pressure/challenging. Especially in 3s, where a lot is going on and you need a minute to see how your teammates play. But I find the majority of the time if you play a patient 3rd no matter how aggressive/terrible your teammates rotations are, you won’t get punished as much, and you will support your team better that way. I also understand how this is not optimal for the long run, but it is so common to see overly aggressive people in 3s because the energy is high/there’s a lot going on. Patience is key

Bro, same I keep getting these teammates that don't belong in the lobby, and even the opponents. I notice my skill is higher than the lobby. There is no single game that my teammates are higher in skill level than me. I'm just stuck in thes e lobby's and can't do anything to rank up. 😔

This is what ranking is like in every game. The MMR system is something that stems from chess. In chess however, MMR is infinite and not "categorized". There is no limit to what your rank can be. In games such as LoL, Valorant and RL where you are put into a rank and soft reset, the MMR gets inflated, as skill level goes up but the ranks are the same. Meaning, better players are pushed down and ranking up is harder. It is an inherent systemic problem with MMR-based systems.

its not a systemic problem, its working exactly as it is supposed to. making suckers waste thousands of hours on their game thinking that "if i just improve a little bit more i will win" but ofc they cant because the better they get, the more the game system will make it harder for them by making their teammates garbage and the enemy players will be better. also the natural outcome of this is that everyone starts making alt accounts, because the longer you play, the worse things get. so you have to make a new account to climb the ranks. they will literally PUNISH you for spending a lot of time at their game. at this point there are so many diamonds and champs with 4k hour game time stuck in plat its not even funny.

I was happy to reach champ back in 2019ish and playing my hardest and currently stuck in D1-D2 with GCs and higher champs in my lobbies has just demoralized my eagerness to play. It’s just not fun for me anymore

For me for the last couple seasons its been a very fixed matchmaking. My first game on ill get a good team mate and play against two good opponents. We have a good game then we win. Next game ill play with someone who is way worse and the opponents get better. If i win this then hands down either the next game will be against two opponents who have doubled up together or i get an even worse opponent. If i go on a losing streak because of this eventually it will reset that and will feel like my first game. In this time ill go from C2 div3 to c1 div on average. Im an ex gc player....

Its very simple if you are not a pro gamer or have any intention of spending 100(0)'s of hours of your free time doing training exercises to get perfect control. You will ALWAYS have to find a premade for duo or 3''s to climb to diamond,. The endless trolls and afks will fck you up forever and yo yo you around for infinity until you do the 100'''s of hours of mind numbing training exercises so you can solo carry.

I always find it interesting when people say ranked is broken bc since I hit champ in 2s, when I play consistently, I still gain rank although it is slower than when I was ranking up in Diamond but that's to be expected since it's a higher rank and in Diamond I was watching videos on what to do to rank up and what to get better at I'm currently C2 in 2s and C1 in 3s (probably gonna lose those since it's my peak and when I play with lower ranked friends) but I think people r over exaggerating.

If ur not actively training everyday to get better you will be left behind and fall in rank. My suggestion to anyone below GC is to play 1s, set scenarios in free play and also try slow motion to better learn mechanics. Do this daily and I guarantee you improvement

Yes its aweful i dont even play ranked anymore. Every other game i get a player that no business in the lobby we are in so i just stay at the same mmr. Its garbage. Absolutly infuriating. C1 lobbies are a nightmare.

Epic honestly needs to get rid of ssl and go completely in the ranked system. It demonizes the other ranks. Bring back copper and bring those people in diamond plat and champ back to copper it’s the only way this ranked system will be fixed.

“Casual” is pathetic it’s literally easier to win in competitive than it is casual🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s so sweaty every time a new season and probably all the smurfs and people boosting each other does not help cause now the lower ranks (plat) are filled to the brim with them every new season and practically makes the game unplayable and it’s not a “skill issue” I’ve been keeping track and this literally has been happening since I started like 8-9 seasons ago sometimes it’s so bad like last season where you can play to up to a 1 1/2 month through the season but all the days you get on you just get annihilated it’s a miracle if I can get 2 wins out of the 12+ games I’m getting destroyed in🤦🏻‍♂️ and it’s not “skill issue” cuz this literally doesnt happen later in the season this is the most laughable excuse of a matchmaking system.. played yesterday legit lost like 8 or more games in a row than I get on today for another 9 games lost in a row🤦🏻‍♂️ I thought causal is supposed to be ranked to but you can’t see the rank? If so than why do my opponents never get easier???

Psyonix IS doing this on purpose. They literally said so in the Patch Notes for S11, plus on some other occasions on Reddit I think. S11 Patch Notes: "Competitive; Season reset formula has been updated to mitigate rank drift across all playlists".

The average player is getting better and better, which pushes the rank tiers up naturally. You see people doing consistent flip resets in diamond and fast aerial in bronze/silver. There are more guides and more people willing to bootcamp than before. If your skill stays the same, but everyone elses skill goes up, then you're going to have a harder time. That's how it has been for me since I've had a lot less time to play in the last few years. My skill has never deteriorated but the average player I go up against is better as a result.

ranking up is harder now?? no way, its almost like the higher ranks were supposed to be exclusive, got overinflated, and psyonix is correcting for their mistakes. its harder to rank up now because psyonix realized they messed up and are fixing it. the higher ranks are more exclusive, thats a good thing, why would anyone want it to be the opposite way?

yeah but the issue is. is now at lower ranks you have players that don’t belong there and should be way higher and players that shouldn’t be in those lobbies cuz they’re not good enough. so it messes with the lower ranks while helping the higher ranks.

Problem is that this doesn't go down to all ranks and biggest problem is that everyone doesn't play as much what would be needed to everybody find theyr right rank. That is why we can see old gc's even in plat lobbies. That is bad, but when you add bad players like real plats or someone else that has some luck and they stay still around some rank even if this new rank push should take them lower than they are, we have so unbalanced games that only way to get to games that are balanced, you have to play so much to find enought good games where you can win. If epic would do total rank reset at this point and no resets between season, we would get things better in few seasons, but that would totally destroy anyone who is just starting out and that is bad for business.

The season rewards hehe. I know they suck but i was in c1 for two seasons and i worked hard to get there. I felt i finally made enough progress to get there. And then next season comes along and im pushed down to d2 never to see myself back in champ rank.. 🎉
