Is the Ruff Enough? - ELO game

Nice game! R2, was surprised with Sacred Kingfisher play. With Pileated already in hand you are going to have a good forest engine so you are going to have a lot of food. If you went Food first, you could go Snowy Owl (get egg) immediately into Pileated. You would also avoid giving him a free egg with Cuckoo. Hard to tell he is going so tuck heavy at that point, but I think Sacred is probably not worth it after R1, even with Rodentologist. Condor I thought was rushed to play. Didn't provide any benefit to get it down early. Unfortunate card draw for you whole game, especially given how many cards you saw. Opponent had a great board, so was a pretty uphill battle.

Yeah I recognized that after I played it. My opponent had just gotten food twice before that as well, which greatly lessened it's potential value. I only got one worm from it all game if memory serves. Should have been the owl.

great game! Did you consider drawing the raven with your owl first turn instead of using the empty wetland?

I didn't, but that certainly would have been a more efficient way to pick it up. I still would have had to lay eggs later instead of using an egg from the owl, though. Unfortunately my kingfisher play screwed that up as well, but I think both uses of the owl could have been legitimate. Thanks for the suggestion!

@FalafelWaffle81 true, though total in two turns you would be up 1 card and 2 eggs vs 1 card and 1 egg by doing the draw with owl path. I really like the owl into pileated play that someone else mentioned as well though!

@@BR4WNDO I can see your point. Either way you're doing a weak action - you're either getting a net of one egg (since cuckoo would give opponent one) or you just draw one card. At the time, you wouldn't know they were going to play the Cuckoo, though, so the Snowy Owl is the more correct pick (2 eggs > 1 card).

Bruh, I had already played the Ruff. Best I could do on that one was 3 points, which is what I got. It wasn't like I was going to hold back on putting the Ruff there based on the tiny chance I would get Wetland Specialist later lol
