SKoda would clean up here in California. This is a great design, so much better than the ID.3 as it has more usable volume. Sadly we don't get Skoda yet. Of course they would need to build a factory here else they would lose the $7500 tax credit.

Thank you for another great review. As an XC40 full electric car owner I look forward to my next lease car after two years. Things I value are: pre-hearing, 360 camera with top view for easy parking, one pedal driving to full stop, ease of door unlocking and locking as well as ease of car starting. Hook for towing and towing capacity. Apple Car Play is important and a good iPhone app for intelligent charging at home at low prices as well as starting or programming the pre-heating. In other words the review could be a way of simulating a daily use. How do I prepare my car for driving with heating and level of charge (I charge to 80% at home for daily drives but bump it to 100% for longer drives). All this can be done from the app. This is just example of thing some viewers pay attention to. Your reviews are the best in my opinion. Please consider including those practical aspects perhaps in even more extensive reviews. 😊

Thank you for an insightful and thorough review, Thomas(and Lea), as usual. I don't know about Deutschland, but in Dänemark, Skoda has introduced a "First edition" model with the highest specs for around €50.000, just about the maximum price tag that an electric compact Skoda can carry on our market. Anything above this price will make the Elroq look expensive compared to its competitors. Probably the Skoda Elroq drives a little bit better, but with the Kia EV3 that you mention, you get more distance, better charging, and overall a better price tag, although the Kia is also a somewhat smaller car. I disagree with you about always going with the biggest battery, especially if you are concerned about the environmental impact. The smaller ones are often lfp so they will last longer and are made with less rare materials. People should just be honest with their daily requirements and not justify the purchase based on one or two road trips they make each year. Of course some people do need much more range but that should not be the default option
@autogefuehl4 күн бұрын
Here all batteries are same chemistry. I agree going the small battery e.g. when its Model 3 where it is about 60 LFP vs 80 NMC for sure. Because you can still do everything with that. But these sub 60 kWh batteries with bad efficiency just lead to a 2nd or 3rd car usage only
@teovm4 күн бұрын
A daily use. If you are so concerned about the environment why don't you use public transport instead, or a bike even an e-bike, or an e-scooter in the trunk. Because of your local government you can't. I know there are cases where people need the car and that is fine, but in most you could manage with a public transport if it is updated and managed properly. Also public facilities like schools and other. I live in a city that has quite good public transport and for my daily comutes I do not use a car (20/80 city/motorway). Only in some rare cases I do. Why should the governments have to charge us people an E-Tax, but on the other hand we do not demand them to do a better public transport for the same reason.

@@autogefuehlI totally agree with Your thinking. Very often BEVs are promoted as and only second car for city driving etc. So why You will buy big Elroq with 52kWh battery if You can buy 20% cheaper Hyundai Inster with 49kWh and much better spec included in this price? I agree that cheap & small BEV should have small batteries around 40-50kWh is optimum and fully enough. But they will be only as a SECOND car NEXT to the ICE or bigger BEV, that will be choosen for longer trips. If You wants to replace ICE with BEV and have only one car Elroq/EV3 with bigger batteries will be perfect car for any kind of journeys, city or highways. One car with 80kWh and no TWO BEVs with 50& 75kWh. In Summary is much less materials
@marekwitek74943 күн бұрын
@@teovmBIG BEVs with small batteries = Range as same practical like big ICE car with small engine & 10L/100km in highways with 30L fuel tank. But they are big cars with example small trunk and >4.5m in length. They will be bad in cities and even worse in highways. Why not buy compact model with bigger fuel tank & less fuel consumption and better turning radius and much shorter? Example 4.3m . This will be much better for any kind of usecases. Small compact ICE could be only ONE car for daily use because they are UNIVERSAL. The same needs are for BEVs. Kia EV3 has 4.3m and 600km WLTP this is much better than big SUV with 4.8m and 400km WLTP and simillar trunk? Only little more space in second row? With worse DC charging? See example Leapmotor C10. BEVs like Elroq/EV3 could replace almost any compact ICE that a lot of People are using in Europe, like Karoq/Golf etc
@teovm3 күн бұрын
@@marekwitek7494 I gues it could be that, but only with the big battery. The real world range is way shorter than what it is stated. Around 20% less and in some cases even more. And if you put that most users will not charge at 100% every time then you lose more. Also not a lot of users have a place to charge it at home. So a big 85KW battery will have around 250km real world daily range. And that is enough. If you have the infrastructure and lifestyle and you have to change the car anyways - GO for it. But that does not mean that local governments have to relax. No matter what they must think of better Public Transport and infrastructure like bike lanes, walkways, local schools for small children and such. Also small local shops, facilities and other, that are walkable. So that you do not have to get your car. Many of the people in the neighbourhood could work in the local environment and thus not need transport for daily use at all. It will be fare more economically viable and environmental. That is not something unreal. We lived it way back. As city planning was a thing. For every new neighbourhood there were schools, kindergartens, local police, fire and health centres, parks, everything connected by walkable pathways. A lot of shops and food markets, coffee shops and other small entertainment (disco club, restaurants, etc), at least one church. Public Transport for the railway station and Bus Station (for other cities or airport). Most people never needed a car. But neighbourhoods were a community as people gather around them. No matter how much roads they build they will still be full if they are used mainly by personal vehicles even if they are like the Ami.

For example typical person in Scadinavia drives 30-40 kms a day so even with 52 kWh you already drive one week. Then if you need to travel longer trips then just plan the charging stops. I think we need more efficient cars and smaller batteries to be sustainable. Of course in the future when batteries are advanced entry models will have that 75 kWh or even 100 kWh batteries

Thank you for showing how much better Skoda do interiors than sibling VW. At €56k as driven this is simply poor value. In our household we have one vehicle for towing and off road (a Landrover Discovery) which is always hitched to a trailer, one for me to enjoy, and a third for a runabout which is where this would have to fit; it does not fit at this price with no off road or 4WD. This is just our use case and I am sure this could do for city dwellers with one parking space and just one car for everything. On battery size I take the opposite view from Thomas which is to go for the smallest battery you can get away with. Firstly I think buying lots of battery now is going to be a bad investment in about three years time as technology improves. Secondly a smaller battery reduces weight and improves handling. If occasionally you need greater range than you have bought, you can always hire something.

A good spec tiny battery Elroq 50 is still more expensive than a Tesla Y. A Elroq 85 is more expensive than a tesla performance. How can VW AG think these scheme is "winning" in 2025? And dont forget the new Opel Frontera. Thats a great car for its price.

It's a nice car but, as with most EV's, all too easy to hit the UK luxury car tax level at £40k. I'm more interested in the smaller forthcoming Skoda Epiq as a possible replacement for our Kona EV.

you add a few options and you already at 40k euro, a bit much for this

The problem is that reviewers compare list prices nobody is paying. I do not get why the OEM have high list prices and the dealer offers a price 20-30% lower than that.

I dont think you ll get 30 % discount on this one... leasing rates might be a different thing though
@Chris-xe5ts2 күн бұрын
@@autogefuehl Not 30% for the Elroq yet. But 18% for the Elroq 50 (28900 Euros) is what dealers have ads for without even starting talking to them.

14:10 You often make the remark about not having physical climate buttons. While I agree that physical is always better, I don't change the temperature very often, so I don't really mind so much. Am I alone in this?

It's not an SUV it is just a VW ID3 or Cupra Born underneath. The 59 kwh will never do 264 miles as Cupra claimed that before down grading the Born to 234. 77 kwh will not do more than 280 on a warm day with aircon off just like the Born. Different body but will depreciate just as fast as the ID3 and Born so only company car drivers or lease unless you like burning £££££££££.

I don’t like the move from the classical logo to the lettering. I think it makes the car look too generic. I’ve seen some test vehicles on the highway and you cannot recognize it is Škoda until it passes you. For a company that says it values tradition, I think this is a step in a wrong direction 🤷
@l.e.i.41114 күн бұрын
I feel that too. Škoda logo is a TM. The same as VW, MB, BMW, Renault etc. You see it and instantly know what is behind that logo.

Nice car which both Thomas and Lea obviously liked in the review. But … the bigger battery version is getting too costly I think. And the overall styling both outside and inside, is a bit generic/bland, i.e. not only similar to other recent Skoda models but similar to many other cars too (though having said that, I do think that certain cars look better or worse in specific colours, and silver almost never appeals to me) … eg in that respect re the interior (for my personal taste) is that the info-nav screen (which of course dominates the dash) has that after-thought/stuck-on appearance, i.e. compared to recent German models with more integrated wider screens (which just looks far more elegant/sleek that way, to me). But … I'm not really in the market for a pure EV, so maybe my opinions don't matter much.

@iansayer81803 күн бұрын
@@autogefuehl Ha ha (😃 ), ... Yes! ... I'm not in the world of leasing, so I always overlook/forget that people may get a good rate on leasing (or even as a company car) ... incidentally I just looked another review with the car in Red, and I think it looks waaay better 👍 .... Oh, and - great review again (as always) ... Autogefuehl is always by far my main go-to for all car reviews (no contest ... and I check almost all car reviews, for any make/model, for well over a decade now, so I've seen all the others many many times ... well done to all at Autogefuehl 😊).

Please can you stop referring to indicators as "turning indicators", they are simply "indicators", or if you want to appease the yankkks "blinkers". Also it's sequential not cascading. Thank you.
