Is the SlotIt G25 Tire the Best Tire Ever? Better than NSR?

Great video Jim. While I greatly appreciate you giving me the credit for discovery - Todd Ulery really was the one who figured out how to true them, how to use them and what track conditions they work well on. I’ve found the G25 to be an excellent tire - but it is absolutely the worst tire to true ever. I think your process here will help a lot of folks, and when in doubt, use more alcohol. Also be sure that your sanding drum is clean before every tire, and still has grit!

Nice video Jim. We don't usually use rubber tires with most of the New England, Massachusetts clubs but we do use silicone tires and I use the same method with alcohol to true the silicone tires' All Good. Thank You for your great videos.

Hi Jim, When I mount the PT1171G25 tires on the W15810215AH (15.8x10 air wheels) with the foam inserts, I can see just a tiny bit of rim exposure when looking from the top (about 0.5mm or less with some variation from tire to tire). Is there a tip to cope with this? I'm concerned that my tires wont pass tech inspection.

Why would it not pass tech? Usually the tires must equal to or less than the width of the rim.

Thank you jim. I’m finding the size chart “somewhat less than intuitive” to say the least. Which of these would be the correct fit for my preferred Staffs wheels? 15.8x10mm or 15.8x8mm?

I use 10mm wide. 8mm will work, but he tire sticks out a bit from the rim.

I'm all this talk of tires is a lot of wasted time. I wish I could find tires that had tread. These are not real race cars, these are toys that cannot build up heat in the tires. That is the real purpose of the reason tires used on race cars to gain grip. Let's all admit there's nothing but toys. If you are that kind of person that wants to waste their money and believe that you're going to get faster times, well you must have deep pockets and a lot of money to waste. All I would like is a tire that has tread and does create a true adhesion between the car and the surface of the track. Hey the only thing I ever found that actually worked for silicone tires in the 70s. Well after all this is the 21st century and everything made now is garbage. Enjoy spending your money.

NSR makes a treaded tire. It’s the classic line. FYI…..slicks tires work, slot cars tires build heat, just like a real race cars and will start going away when pushed hard, for long durations.

And also, tread on tires (sipes) is only there to dissipate water. A treaded tire can grip but will feather at the sipes and never grip as good as a slick.

Treaded tires on a slot car is purely for looks and will not perform as well as a comparable slick.👍
