I work in the space industry, a ton of my coworkers have some Speedmaster variation from FOIA to Skywalker. Speedy is the only forever watch in my collection - at least until my sons get them. IMO every watch has some flaws or nuances we would change or customize but overall I love it.

I know it is not the professional but an insane value is the Speedmaster racing 40. 40mm case, 100m water resistant, co-axial chronometer with a date, guilloche dial sapphire Chrystal with AR, all for under $3,000.

The Speedmaster date is actually one of my favorite variations at an attainable price. Too bad it would be too small as the Speedy Pro already wears somewhat compact for me.

The Speedy is an icon and one of the best looking watches ever made but imo it's also fairly basic in certain aspects such as overall finishing (black one doesn't even have applied indices), non-ceramic bezel etc... It commands its price for various reasons but it was previously priced at the right level for the overall package you were getting. Like for all luxury products, as demand and pricing power increases, the brand will raise its prices, notwithstanding manufacturing costs. Omega has pushed up prices quite a bit across the board and considering the many changes made to the Speedy it probably justifies it better than other models, although £6,600 in the UK for a matte dial, non-ceramic bezel watch with non-applied indices and a plexiglass is really pushing it.

He is right about 6.25" wrist can wear the Speedmaster! I tried it on last week because of Teddy mentioning that virtually anybody can wear the 42mm Speedy. I decided to try it out and wow, fits like a glove. Now, thank you for showing that two-tone speedmaster. Looks 🔥!

The speedy pro is probably one of the best chronographs out there. I had mine for a while and foolishly sold it which I kick myself every day for it. I currently have a gen 1 X33 which is a cool watch in of itself. Definitely going to get another speedy pro again over getting another Rolex.

Yep- from the roof top- I love my Speedy. I got the my sapphire sandwich from the AD in July and have worn it everyday- except when I went swimming. It's really toolly and extremely elegant.

The most iconic and important watch in history more so than the sub, let’s be honest no one cares about diving history (99% of watch collectors anyway) diver watches are great for daily watches and look great. Nothing else like it and it looks amazing, god dam it’s pretty! It was under priced for years and now it’s still good buying vs the rest of the market and as stated you can get some cheap used ones!

I would not buy a Speedmaster at retail. I would get a new one on the gray market or buy slightly used for a significant discount. They are really not worth the $8k they sell for at retail, in my opinion. I did, however, recently purchase a 2020 Tokyo Olympics limited edition panda version and I paid more than even a new Speedy sells for today but that watch has gone up in value and will likely continue to do so. One of the best looking Speedmasters, in my opinion, with the silver panda dial on a great steel bracelet.

Purchasing the green dial to wear on my wedding day. My first “luxury” purchase. I don’t plan on ever reselling as it will have sentimental value to me. I have been researching watches for the last couple months. I was finally able to make my decision because of your and Teddy Baldassarre’s videos. Thanks for putting out great content. The artificial pumped up value of the Speedy deterred me to buy one, but I've found a second hand immaculate Mark II that I've purchased for a fraction of the Speedy and I love it. I am not accepting the new price tags, I won't purchase a JLC brand new for the same reason.

In 1988 I paid $375 for a pre-owned 1971 Speedmaster Professional from a watchmaker in Lower Manhattan. Today's prices are crazy. My current daily is a Bulova Lunar Pilot bracelet model. I love that watch. For safety reasons, the Speedmaster stays in the box.

I think $8k is the top of the range for the Speedmaster. IWC, Breitling, Zenith, JLC, GS and other comparable brands hover around the $8k mark and the Daytona is flat out too expensive at $13k for its technical merit. If Omega pushes it to $9k-10k, it will be a tough sell for many. It would need a ceramic bezel liquid metal or lumed bezel and bringing back the column wheel, vertical clutch and add more power reserve to justify that price.

IMO the price increase are now to high. The basic hesalite version here in the UK is £6600 (approx $8700). Was offered a discount at the AD without even asking, I think this shows even the sales person knows they are to high. I ended up getting a new/unworn 2024 Speedy for 3k less

Again with the regurgitated water resistance "issue" with the speedmaster. I have surfed, snorkeled, swam, washed my car/dishes, showered, hot tub, etc. with my speedy with no issues. Like any other watch, including dive watches, your water resistance is only as good as your gaskets. Get them checked every five years or learn how to replace them yourself like Ive done every five years.

I currently own the Speedy Moonwatch. It's certainly an icon and a very good-looking watch. But, I think the current 8K price for the sapphire sandwich version is too much, especially when I consider other chronographs. Not only that, I am not impressed with the Swatch Group these days. I had to send my speedy for warranty service when it was practically brand new and my personal experience in dealing with them was not good.

You can buy a used one in great condition for around 6-6.5ish. Lots of people buy Speedies but end up selling because they don’t like winding their watches. I can also see more being sold for those who decide they want the white one more. I love mine and hope you can save up enough for one soon.
