I remember Manu Bennett as Marc Antony on Xena: Warrior Princess, also shot in New Zealand. He always sounds like he's doing Shakespeare, even when he isn't. It's fun.

Interesting concept for a game show; 16 people start off with $1,000,000, if any of them quit or get left behind their share of the money is lost, & at each checkpoint the group votes someone out splitting their share of the money, all while trying to reach The Summit in time otherwise they lose all of the money. Hope the Season stays good.

Not listened to the pod yet but my little tweak to their rules is just make it anonymous voting as in survivor style just so it wont be a herd mentality type of vote
@LM11116Ай бұрын
Nah, I like the public voting. Look at the very first vote, these people aren't just "going with the house." It's messy, and the window of discussion is so small that, at least until the group gets small, it'll be chaos and everyone won't hear or agree to the plan.
@BradsPitts.Ай бұрын
I was thinking this too
@joemodestАй бұрын
@@LM11116 that still wont remove the fact that there's always the social pressure/ herd mentality of raising your hand when you see the majority raising their hands as well. Its ok entertainment i guess, but game board sense its removing the strategic gameplay part of it
@joemodestАй бұрын
Id like to have it anonymous voting, then as soon as there are any ties then its ok to go public voting afterwards

I think at least some of the cast may have watched the NZ version of this show and/or have been prompted that they would be playing a physically-demanding social strategy game with voting.

I believe I’m going to enjoy the summit. It is giving me a better understanding of Survivor.. Chappell You made a valid point about Rose I didn’t think 🤔 about it on that level because I felt Bo should’ve been eliminated. In fairness to Tony, had they been going the right way he might’ve had a better chance.
@ashleyfullofgrace32Ай бұрын
This show is all over the place. The fact that at least half the cast looks like they've never done serious hiking or even camped outside is interesting given the level of physicality that is involved with this challenge. The teamwork tasks they need to do like crossing the bridge add a nice element to it besides just having the physical trek. I don't love the public vote-outs. I'll watch to see what becomes of the show, though I don't see this formula working past one season. Missing watching Amazing Race right now.

Definitely go watch season 1 & 2 of the original Australian TV series of The Summit 👌🏾 It's brilliant, just like Australian Survivor is better than American Survivor!

I liked the Summit and was hoping RHAP would discuss it. This will be interesting. With a guy. Dusty from my city, Boise, Idaho in the cast I will be watching. On our local news they interviewed him and he said that he hates snow and had no idea there would be snow and cold involved. Uh oh.

An interesting point of math for this series. Players quitting actually makes individual payout higher at the end because it decreases the number of winners (assuming the producers keep the same number of votes no matter what, in this case using 9 which is 1 at each checkpoint). The math if no one quits, $1M in the pot divided by 7 winners (16 players - 9 vote outs) $1M / 7 = $142,857.14 per winner. The math if someone quits before the first vote. $1M - $62,500 = $937,500 in bags at the summit [1M/16 players is $62,500 per pack to start the climb]. You still vote out 9 players so (15 players - 9 vote outs) = 6 winners and $937,500 / 6 = $156,250 (>$142,857). The difference in payout gets smaller the later they quit since they carry more money away with them.
@christianstandingАй бұрын
I could be wrong, but based on watching the Australian version, if someone quits, the money disappears with them, meaning the prize fund goes down. So if someone is talking about quitting, then it's on the rest of the group to convince them to make it to the check point. And this way they can vote them off and take the money. Without trying to spoil anything, there is something to be said about playing the social game of working together.

Did any of y’all ever watch Ton of Cash on VH1 back in the day? From the moment I saw the previews for this, I thought it was just a less trashy version of that hahaha. I enjoyed this show more than I expected to! Though yeah some of the mechanics I think could’ve been explained better. The nature shots are gorgeous! The logo feels so slapped on and incongruous though imo. If it stayed on Sunday nights I’d probably not be able to watch live, but since it’s coming on after Survivor I’ll probably stick with it. Taran and Chappell is a formidable team!
@davidk3852Ай бұрын
So just simple math. 16 contestants. 10 checkpoints + endpoint. Must hit a checkpoint every day but 3. Will vote out someone every checkpoint. So far 1 has been medical elim. 1 voted out. 14 players left. 9 elims left. Max 5 making the summit to split whatever cash is left.

I kid you not the episode where they voted out Rose (just because she was in the military and has that experience) really shows that they are nothing more than sensitive fragile snakes who couldn't handle a *real adult* giving them orders. She must've given them PTSD of they're strict parents. Those people will never last long in that show. They should've went on that Netflix survival show full of entitled zoomers who don't know anything about survival. 🤭
@wendylane6846Ай бұрын
She didn't tell anyone she was in the military until after she was voted out. She was just unlikable
