Is The TCL-X100II Good Enough For 40 Mega Pixels?

Nice review, Kevin. I bought me a TCL-X100 II back in february of this year, when i booked a photography workshop "Carnival in Venice, Italy" with my X100V. I figured I would like the extra focal length for portrait work, and I have not regretted that decision. Sharpness like you say is beautiful. Also I loved that little bit of extra bokeh. So I highly recommend it if shooting portraits is one of your things.

It also gives you a digital zoom to 70mm still having 20MP. Or even 100mm but then you have 10MP left, might be usable in some cases.

I think it's a good addition to someone that owns that X100 would I buy it if I own the X100? Probably if it was my only camera it's that age old debate do you go for an XT for an XT5 with different lenses but if you're a one lens person one camera this I think would be a great addition and I think you reviewed it really well and I think it comes down to image quality if the image quality is good, is there a negative really?

There were definitely things I didn’t like about it. But since I only considered it for the image quality, and the quality is good, I’m keeping it.

I bought it but rarely use it. Find out that the whole sutup is clumsy. So I let my X100v as it is. If I want 50mm field of view I use my small XT-30 + XF 35/2 lens. Much lighter and more compact combination.

I prefer the native 23mm most of the time. But I keep the teleconverter in the bag for those special moments when I need it.
