You're 100% correct. 99% of the people commenting haven't experienced a turbo LS. I recently got mine running right. It was fast before. I could only get it to rev to 5k. My crank sensor was bad. I replaced it. My truck now burns the tires off until I let off of the throttle. It does 0 to 60 in 2.4 seconds on the Holley datalog. This is on a 275-60-15 normal tire. My boss has a C8 Corvette, and he refuses to race me. My power is insane to me. 12lbs on 93 octane. My truck burns the tires at 75mph.

It might get repetitive watching all the LS swap videos on youtube. But it won't be boring to drive!

They're ok, i guess. I've seen hundreds of videos featuring LS swaps and builds despite having never searching for a single one and having no particular interest in the LS. They're the default engine and unavoidable. Cheap power is great if you're racing. But I value trying something new and different WAY above going fast for cheap.

Back in the 80s and 90s,everyone was swapping sbc engines into everything despite the technology being 40 years old. Once the computer techs caught up with engine management systems everybody started switching to the ls platform. This will continue until a newer, better platform is developed.

Maybe discussing turbo LS is boring. Anyone that's actually driven a 500+ horsepower car knows it's not boring. And I'm not talking about some new modern whatever with 4-5-6-700hp with traction control. Not even in the same realm.

I like all of the content, I like when you test unique setups. Since we're so familiar with the formulas and have a set of data with which to check against - we can learn more about engine dynamics. For instance I'd love to know how and why those turbo headers for the 4200 didn't do anything. Lots of speculation, we can probably know why exactly by testing on LS stuff as well except of course it is has to do with the unique VVT and Cam profile of the 4200 - which it probably is lol. Richard thank you for helping everyone doing so many tests people can know what they are getting into beforehand. And when people encounter errors you help them too. (Chopacobra can I think recently) Keep up the good work

It's only boring when people act like it's the only way to make power. I put a turbo on my 1996 F150 302 and it gets down! Daily driver, a lot of fun!

I tried the turbo thing and it was fast and fun but I relapsed back to the old school N/A junk. I felt like I was going around the science of engineering power from a level playing field of atmospheric pressure. When you swap over to a power adder the science moves to simply getting the engine to live. The power is completely determined by the amount of boost or spray so the science is now changing to make it not blow up. Not as much fun to me.

I was in the junk yard today and every throttle cable type LS had the throttle body removed, only DBW setups left. But all the 5.7 Hemi's were left alone. Maybe the 5.7 Hemi will be the next fad.

Building a turbo ls, Isn't turning out to be as cheap &simple as cam springs & boost for me. steak and lobster dreams on a French fry Budget. I think it would be cheaper to put a turbo on taylor swift. But I would have to learn to tune her myself. I would hate for someone else to blower her up before I even got to drive her 🤤

Hi Richard, I want to put aluminium heads on a 5.0l and intake (carb) for weight reduction. Engine is in a 600kg (1400bl?) car. What cam can I run that will get me 370ish hp with a nice bit of idle chop but still drive ok down low. 6500rpm max engine speed

Windsor, think it’s a 1987, currently bog stock. I’m not sure what heads but something like edelbrock performer, they are easier to get where I am. The car is a home built sports car.

@joshiek7839 have you watched his videos on the Summit e303+ cam? I put the b+ cam in my 302 Fairmont and it sounds great and has the torque down low. Good price too.
@starionslider211620 күн бұрын
There is a reason why everyone does it. Cost effective and fairly easy compared to other combos. Its kinda like the work smarter not harder saying. The ones that choose a…….sbc, vr6, honda, or whatever are the ones that want to work harder to get same results.

The turbo LS has no style. If you wanna go fast hell yes but if you’re building a classic cool car then no. Just my .02
