I address the thoughts and issues of the Universal Automotive Lockout Tool Kit in the year 2020.
And I address a few other issues and speak bluntly about them.

Hey that’s good to know which of the tools still worked best for you?

I owned this set and lost it somewhere. Wish I still had it. The hook bar was great

As you implied, this kit was designed for 1980s to mid 2000s vehicles, however many of the tools will work on later models.For instance, the slim jims can be used on cars that have exposed vertical linkages(Such as the 2008-2011 Ford Escape and Focus)provided that you place a slight bend in them so that they can reach behind the window and grab the rod, the plastic strip tool can work on all vehicles that have pop-up buttons(As long as enough of the button protrudes from the top of the door panel when locked), and the under the window tool(The one with the triangle shaped tip)can be very effective on newer cars which have cable linkages(Although you should always consult a car opening manual to be sure it is a valid opening method for the make, model, and year of the car your working on(As it can become stuck in the door, or break the window if used incorrectly). P.S. I would recommend that you remove the ring securing the ends of the strip tool, join the two ends together, make a sharp crease in the loop on the other end, and instead of gluing a piece of sandpaper, place 2 1/2”x1” strips of duct tape on both sides of the inside creased end for grip(I’ve found that over time and through repeated use, the glue loses it’s adhesive quality, and the piece of sandpaper comes off, whereas the duct tape strips will stay on forever).As for the air wedge, there’s no need to lube it with Windex.If your having trouble sliding it in, use one of the wedges to gently pry the door frame out to aid in insertion.Also, slice off half of the triangle tip of the under the window tool with a Dremel(Using a cut off wheel)so that only an inward L shape remains, and then place an appropriately sized vinyl screw cover(You can find these at your local hardware store)over it.This will not only prevent you from scratching the interior, but greatly improve it’s gripping abilities.

Duct tape is an interesting idea or sand paper on one side and duct tape on the other. However cutting into a persons car with a tool isn’t a smart approach, I was taught the information about this set by a lock smith who also made the bump keys featured on my channel.

@@BelmontClan I never said to cut someone’s car lol.I said to modify the under the window tool by cutting off half of the triangular tip so that only an L shape is remaining and placing a vinyl cap over it(Like this one below) www.accesstoolsusa.com/In-The-Door-Tool-p/35.htm

I have used tool kits like this, without the airwedge. I have used them to open Semi trucks for truck drivers who have locked themselves out. The tools I have used were all on semis that were 2015 and older.

@@BelmontClan no once you unlock your door ? Where would you put the kit back in your trunk or somewhere outside your vehicle in case you lock yourself out again?
@BelmontClan

@@tonykhan7212 Well first off your comment is not making any sense. And I’ve read it 3 times, so where would I put the kit, well chances are I wouldn’t be locking myself out of a car multiple times, if that’s the case with you than I’d honestly suggest buying a set of automotive jigglers so there was an alternative means of getting into the car. The question I’d be asking you is if you had this set of tools why exactly would you leave it somewhere on the car? That would only succeed in getting the car stolen so think intelligently before you speak. Now depending on what type of bag you carry you could put the bag of tools in it and carry them on you. I’m trying not to cut on you and I’m pretty sure English is not your first language.

No one should buy these tools, they are old technology. Using such may cause an airbag catastrophe. Buy simple non destructive modern tools proven to work safely and efficiently.
