I’ve owned a 1975W for a few years. I love it. But I still watch all your review videos and learn a lot. They’re so helpful to people in the decision making process.

I bought a BSS in December. I love it, 24 x 60, 3/8 in. thick. I still watch your videos, I think they are helpful to people still looking for their pit.

Props to Smokemaster D for another great video. It's evident you put a ton of time into this one. I'm on a Patriot Pit. Top tier in my opinion. Still built one at a time. Gotta love that.

I own a Murillo mainly because I live in California. Absolutely love it. I went with the top grate and instead of a plancha I got a 3 level grate on top of the firebox. Runs like a dream

Workhorse Pits 1975 is still worth the wait! Cheers!

Inflation is pricing many out of their dream pits. I would not be surprised to see further instances of "fatstack' taking place as economic strain contiues. Best of luck to those shopping. Always a thumbs up SMD. Terribly underrated channel.

Thanks! I just hope my builder is solid financially and doesn't go under before or after my build is finished.

Great video...I have the Workhorse 1975 wagon package...love it! Looking at your comparisons I would still choose the Workhorse again even with the price increase. Overall, for what you get, 3/8 steel and the workmanship quality, it's hard to beat. I recently had to give mine a facelift as the elements had gotten to the raw steel...a light sanding with a scotch bright pad, some flax & avocado oil made it look like new all over...one of the reasons I went with the raw finish

I've ordered a 26x48 from Bell Fab. Craig agreed to include removable baffles one standard and one "half moon" (scoop) so that I have a lot of flexibility with flow. I'm also getting golf cart style tires and wheels with a steerable front axle. I plan on picking it up early next month. Very excited!

I have a 1975, it's a fantastic smoker. But after seeing a tmg pits volunteer, I'm convinced it's the better buy.
@williemakeit718510 ай бұрын
I would love to hear why. They build toys
@chrisstubbs7910 ай бұрын
@williemakeit7185 once you see one in person you understand it's definitely not a toy. The build quality is top notch. The design is excellent as well. They also offer a diverse product catalog so you can build a whole business or backyard set from one manufacturer which for some of us is important.

@@williemakeit7185can't take you serious talking like that.
@williemakeit718510 ай бұрын
@@chrisstubbs79 The only thing I struggle with is the performance of all these smokers. I meant to say gimmick. I would call it a Swiss Army knife (more of a toy than tool). I am a cook at one of the top BBQ joints in Texas. For smoking meat, we use a pit that does only that. Not multi functional.
@clintblundon48808 ай бұрын
I was there as well. Jeremy Yoder has a few reviews available on YT. The price point isn't holding me back on the TMG Volunteer, but the comments about fire management seem problematic - i.e. harder to manage or more temperamental. Not sure how I feel about that.

I've got a Blue Smoke Smoker and the craftsmanship and metal thickness you get for the price is the best deal in BBQ, in my humble opinion!
@Utubejeff239 ай бұрын
tmg pits volunteer is the reigning champ. all the perks of the workhorse with a bottom pull-out, towel/tool holder, looks more custom, larger smoke stack(efficiency), short lead time. def loses to workhorse on the price though.

Maybe I missed it, but very few listed are 3/8" steel wall. Nearly two times the cost of pipe than 1/4". I know, I tried to build my own. Also one last thing, Workhorse figured out what nearly everyone on this list simply copied. Workhorse is also has an insulated stack and game changer.
@SmokeMasterD10 ай бұрын
Insulated stack? I have seen them, but I never thought I had seen one on a Workhorse pit (the folding thing would make it kind of tricky).
@chrisstubbs7910 ай бұрын
@@SmokeMasterD I think he is mistaken. My workhorse definitely does not have an insulated stack
@williemakeit718510 ай бұрын
@@SmokeMasterD They have one.
@williemakeit718510 ай бұрын
@@chrisstubbs79 All do. Look in side the smoker back at the chase or manifold. That little piece has an air gap between the tongue I call it and stack. Game changer. Prevents the cold outside air interfering with the draw. We ordered three 1000 gallons and sold our previous two 1000's just based on that.

I got a custom pit on order with a lead time of 17 months once I paid the 50% deposit. I have no problem with any wait time I agreed too. It's only when we go past that time with no finishing time in sight and I see you're promoting a 10-month lead time, while I wait for another BBQ season to pass with no compensation for my time. All I ask is for builders to stick to your finishing date or start compensating the buyers who put faith in you, for their time.

i think their new model is a mistake. the dealership model will increase costs. id rather they just kept the same model, demand was already there as they were what, a year out, so i dont see the point of the dealership model. how many people are dumping 3-4 grand on a smoker just spur of the moment as they saw it in store...

Just build your own. I have $1500 in my 150 gallon and that includes the price of a nice welder and plasma cutter
