@Missy Mayhem Well, during the summer I want to skate outdoors mostly flat surfaces like my driveway or roads, but in the winter I’ve lately rollerskated in my basement with my old pair of skates

I have 2 pair of Lolly’s but each is total customized ( took me three seasons to figure out what you explained in a few minutes in this great video) to meet my needs and I carry soft wheels in my bag with me if I decide to leave the skatepark and roll to town. I have skateboard wheels on my Lolly’s on a normal basis to skate the park. This is a great video and will send it to a friend that is looking for skates. My first thought was “before she buys skates what are her needs?!” I even thought about making a video for her but I’m just going to send her this one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks a ton

I just ordered my 1st pair of skates in YEARS. I went with the black asphalt rainbow riders because it's been years since I've skated and I just love the look. I can't wait to get back on 4 wheels again.

Thanks Missy! I'm going to get my first ever skates soon, and will be mainly street skating (I've been eyeing up rails at my park), and this really helped understand what's good. Moxi are my ultimate goal, but may be starting a bit cheaper first!

Thanks so much for this awesome primer, Missy! 🤩 My first/only skates (Lolly) are set up on outdoor wheels but I hope to soon skate on both rough and smooth surfaces regularly. I know there are hybrid wheels but if my preference is for both softer and harder wheels, would it be damaging to the skate to swap out wheels regularly (multiple times a week)? Hoping to someday get a second pair of skates so I can have an indoor and outdoor setup, but till then, wondering if swapping is OK or if a hybrid wheel is just plain necessary. 😅

I bought some skates from dolls kills (the care bear ones) and nowhere does it say what type of wheels they have😭like they look like gummy and stuck to the smooth floor AT FIRST! After using them outside they were really smooth indoor but also smooth outdoors, I skate on the sidewalk and the road so idk if I’m messing up the wheels :(

One more reason to wear those 73a outdoor wheels indoors, laziness 😂 I’m just to lazy to change my wheels for that few hours once or twice a month (we’ll, prob more than that now that it’s the 🌧 season in WA) I’ll be inside. 😉

G'day Missy. Im an old school Rink Speed Skater from the 80s. I came accross a pair of 80s 'Sure Grip' Rink Skates, with the old 'Australian Husler' Red Wheels. I want to use these skates outdoors along Beach Pathways and rough sidewalks which potentially may have cracks, and sticks, and stones. I was thinkin a softer wheel as the rink wheels just have too much vibration, but being that im generally a fast skater, would 78A wheels Slow me down too much? I heard somewhere that if you buy a good quality 78A that has good "Rebound" (whatever that means) that its faster than a standard 78A? Or would i be better off with an 84A for Speed on rough sidewalks? ...and will 84A still feel nice and soft and stop alot of vibration, but without losing speed? What Softness (and size) wheels would you recommend for me? Also, when skating on beach paths, does Sand get into the bearings ...or are they sealed well enough to keep sand out?

Many thanks for this well articulated explanation. Now I understand why my hard wheel seemed so slippery on hard ground, and easy on vinyl kitchen floor where I am learning to maintain balance. any tips for how to keep balance and stop wobbliness will be much appreciate. anyone here able to help with tips for a total beginner ? please !

Thank you so much for this video! I was a rink speed skater back in the 80s but the rink we have here is concrete and I hated skating on it. I'm looking to get back into skating for exercise so I'm hoping to find a mid rise (not low speed skate style because I'm older and ankles are weak, and not high top because I'm afraid they will to too high) style of outdoor skate and wheel to go on the smoothish outdoor trails in my community. If you have any recommendations on the skate portion, that would be great. I think the first wheel you showed would be my best option for the type of skating I am interested in.
