I took this advice and am absolutely delighted. Just be very choosy with the lenses, only the best will do (Nikkor 20mm F1.8 + Nokton 58mm for me atm). Thank you Mr Angry Man and looking forward to more of the same in 2017.

Hi, I recently got a D800 used from Amazon third party seller, the camara itself looks in great conditions, I took a couple of shots and I was really happy using a Tamron 70-200. Anyways, I got this camara yesterday and today I turned it on and hit the Liveview button but the LCD was flickering, I love the camara and wish i could keep it but I’m concerned about it. Any suggestions or you think I should return it, it only has 5,500 shutter count. Please let me know what you would do. Thanks a lot...

They have some great lenses, so that's a highly snobbish remark. Their 35mm 1.4 Art is better than Nikons over priced 35 1.4, their new 50mm 1.4 is also amazing, and there's the 85 1.4 on the way. They also have some beastly wildlife lenses now. I'm a D800E user, and love some Nikon lenses. I was all in agreement on your vid but that Sigma remark is just dumb.

Found a D800e listed on Craigslist for $200. The guy mentioned that the camera does not work whatsoever and he does not know what the issue may be so I took the risk for $200. Turns out the camera was indeed not turning on but it suffered from the same issue as many D800s, a crapped out battery PCB. Popped a battery grip on it and boom, $200 D800e for parts was now a $200 D800e with less than 4K on the shutter. Turns out the camera belonged to the guy’s tenant who dipped without any notice and left his belongings behind for the guy to sell and recuperate the owed rent. Yes, I got stupidly lucky with this because despite being old, the camera and its 36 megapixel sensor is bonkers.

Bought my 800E last year due to this recommendation.Of course,I love it.With the 820 or whatever it is coming soon,I figured the 810 will drop in price.I was rewatching videos and gathering info and basically looking for new to me info on the 800E.My search brought me to another photography channel which had all of the high end full frames laid out for review.I was surprised to see that the 800E or even the 800 wasn't even mentioned.Nor did he even bother to elaborate why he skipped from the 750 to the 810.The 800E certainly flies under most people's radars. Thanks for this video,Ken.

Dear Ken, Thanks for your former advices! I have a D700 and D300. I'd like to ask your opinion about D3 vs D3s. I'm shooting among other things some wildlife I am thinking about the apparently proved over 1 stop high ISO advantage that the D3s would have over the D3. Here in France, to change the shutter would cost up to 1000 euros! Another question is, do you think that using the D3s' video mode regularly or intensively could shorten the sensor's life? I know that it was definitely the case of the Canon 5Dm2. Thanks in advance! And thanks for saving us money and pointing out what "really matters"! Christoph

I just got a "used" USA warranty D800E in the box with 37 shutter clicks. I had been looking for the closest thing to an unused USA D800E and finally found it. It appears only about 17,000 D800E's were made for the USA. The D800E/D800 are compatible with Nikon Capture NX2 while anything newer than the D610 is not. I sold my D610 (bought new) to help finance the switch but it was still a net of nearly $1000 out of pocket for the trade. The D810 has a plastic mirror box and is made in Thailand (as does/is the D610) contrasted with the D800/800E's magnesium mirror box and which is made in Japan. The D610 restores live view after shooting much faster then the D800E which has to clear the buffer before it does so. I'm VERY happy with this find.
