You have just got a new subscriber ! I looked everywhere to see what gain people been using with the MV7+ and I couldn't find it anywhere. Until I finally see watched your video. Thank you ! I think +8dB is the sweet spot for this mic.

Thanks mate! Glad it helped! The gain level will vary depending on the persons mic etiquette and general speaking volume… when the audio signal goes up the meter, the loudest part of where you speak should hit just below the red region in the yellow. Otherwise the audio will clip. This is what I’ve been aiming for at least. I’m not at the point of any advanced audio processing, but I believe during the processing stages you would raise the quieter tones and lower the louder ones to balance off the audio a bit more… but I am an audio noob still! Despite having done a few mic tests etc. I’ll be covering various topics of multimedia and tech… Thanks for subscribing!

I was going back and forth between the (black) RE20 and SM7B myself. Ended up with the RE20. Just something about the sound of that mic-especially through the RCPII, that I love. Good luck in deciding your favorite!
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
I have the black one also… for some reason I want one of each lol… but no, that’s just too crazy of me… I am leaning towards Shure SM7B at the moment though… I feel like it’s an easier mix to use… it’s not capturing my breathing as much and not as sensitive to plosives… it doesn’t have that sparkle the RE20 has, but SM7B for me is easier to work with..: RE20 def does sound better to me though… I have a feeling I will just sway back and forth depending on the day and my mood lol
@BaseCammp7 ай бұрын
@@leo_hoang Take a look at the BSW Repop. It's on my list of things to get to deal with plosives/breathing. That said, just tilting the mic a little off-axis almost always fixes those problems.
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
@@BaseCammp I’ve actually bought that already and a foam windshield to test… I’ve not got around to testing it yet… it’s funny, because I rented an RE20 a few months ago and I guess I had better mic technique then I don’t remember it being much of a problem, but using my own one it’s irritating lol… but I hope these filters might do the trick to make it easier to work with…

I have a question please. I have a windows laptop, And m7 plus comes with usb c to usb c cable, i think there’s no usb a cable, how to fix that?
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
I’m sure you could buy an after market USB-C to USB-A cable, or they do have little adapters also available on Amazon. That’s what I would do. But I’ve not tested it with this mic but this is what I’ve done in the past when I needed a USB-A connector and hadn’t had any issues. I’ve had to do that with hard drives and the only downside would be a slower data transfer, but for the mics, it shouldn’t be an issue as mics don’t require much bandwidth to begin with.

@@leo_hoang I will buy usb c to usb a from anker, could this affect the quality by any means? Thank for responding.
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
@@OislamforallO1 I don’t believe this would impact the quality as you’re going to use a cable for a digital signal. If you was converting an Analogue signal via XLR, then potentially a cheap cable would affect it. But with USB, it’s a digital signal so I wouldn’t expect the sound quality to be affected at all. I would only expect issues on a digital cable over cables longer than 5m… but this would be down to connection stability rather than quality of output. That’s my view on it from a very broad perspective at least. Hope that helps!

You are the man! to my hears on usb it sounds a bit muffled, and it sounds better when everything is off, but it is really a slight and negligible difference, in other reviews the difference was way more audible so Im a bit confused. I agree with everything, for the same price, actually less, you get the Mv7x that on xlr is literally the same (confirmed by Shure) plus a really decent audio interface like the audient id4 mkII or the SSL2 or w/e you want and you are fine basically forever, otherwise you are stacked with that microphone. Not to mention the fact that on xlr you can eq way better than with the shure software on USB
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
Yeah I think via USB it’s doing too much. The realtime denoiser is too aggressive as when I’m on XLR it’s not picking up ambient sound anyway. I need to get some proper audio monitoring headphones though, I’m just using my AirPod Gen 3 lol…
@Edoardo-jh9yg7 ай бұрын
@@leo_hoang Yes I also don't like when too many process are on, like the denoiser that can create artifacts BUT I want to break a spear in favor of Shure (I don't know if you guys say that too cuz im Italian so I hope you get what I mean) saying that the denoiser on this Mv7+ it's way better than other denoiser that I've seen on other usb mics, thats because it works only when it actually detect other noise, otherwise doesn't really change your voice, or at least isn't too bad, but again I don't really get what Shure wanted to do with this new Mv7+, the xlr is the same as the Mv7x, nothing changed, they changed the usb connection from micro usb to usb-c, cool but there is no difference in the sound so yeah great, but not that great, the software is a bit better? now Im not an engineer but I guess they couldve just upgrade the software in general adding more features, and not just release a new one for this new plus model, there are also things that i don't understand, like the reverb for example, who on this planet would use that? am I missing something? I mean my point is; cool mic, love the mute button, its very responsive, cool that they updated the usb connection, but other than that it's basically the Mv7 with a better software, and for now the Mv7 on usb sounds even better somehow, maybe they will fix it maybe they will not, but I don't know, I think Rode worked better with their Podmic USB, it costs way less and they actually worked on it, new color that actually kicks in my opinion, circuitry enhanced, better preamps, new dial for volume/mute (even if its very bad on the back, u can't see when you are muted and when you are not) new re deseigned pop filter that works pretty well etc.. this is a bit disappointed from Shure not gonna lie, I was very hyped when I saw their new released and I got that.
@leo_hoang7 ай бұрын
@@Edoardo-jh9yg I do suspect there is some upgraded hardware to help with the denoiser etc. I think Podcast stage mentioned the settings are saved in the DSP…. Whatever that means lol… But not enough of an improvement and real world benefit… but gamers and streamers are very into the LED life, I’m sure the LED panel alone will be enough to sway a few buyers…
@Edoardo-jh9yg7 ай бұрын
@@leo_hoang Im gonna be brutally honest, if you release a new microphone after 4 years, it has to sounds better out of the box, thats it, I do not really care about what you did inside it, because if it sounds the same as the "older" model or in this case even worse, it's a meme, let's be honest.. yes ok the denoiser is better and maaaaybe you improved the hardware but it doesn't sounds any better, so what are we talkin about?! I agree with you and I actually find that this led is the ugliest thing of the microphone, I do love the functionality as I said, very responsive and I would love to have a mute button on every mic, but I would have preferred something more sober, professional, less "gamer" rgb style.

Does it make it sound better on discord? i use the usb version while on discord and my friends say it sounds no different then a hyperx quadcast mic
@leo_hoang6 ай бұрын
I don’t have the mic anymore so can’t test and I don’t use Discord. There are too many variables when it comes to audio as you can process a cheap mic to sound better and a great mic to sound worse also. If any platform you will be using the mic on adds processing, you would have to bare that in mind and test for yourself before committing. I would just base your decision off the raw audio and go from there… In my opinion it’s not a great sounding mic and there are cheaper options out there… I prefer the Rode XDM100 over this MV7+ if I were going to use a USB only mic… The Rode XDM100 sound is good for its price… quite impressive… it’s just a bit big… But MV7+ I feel it’s overpriced and not something I would want to own… def cheaper options available… Also worth noting that you should focus on what mic sounds good to you, as your friends just may have a different taste. I have SM7B and RE20, I like both but I know people who prefer one or the other…

IANAL and I have no idea where you are from, but isn't it illegal (in most Western countries at least) to sell counterfeit goods - regardless of whether they are marked as fake or not? Even if you were a victim of such a purchase, the smarter thing would have been to report the original seller.
@leo_hoang6 ай бұрын
It’s quite patronising for you to state it as “the smarter thing” This was purchased 3yrs ago from a private seller on fb marketplace. Here in the UK, private sales falls under “Sold As Seen” as far as I’m aware. The buyer was made fully aware and was not deceived. If you find information that states otherwise, by all means share the resource under UK law.
