We must set specific goals. Once I set a vague goal like one day I will be living in Germany. Well, I got it but it took me 11 years to get it. At that time I was not practicing this Buddhism. Then I began practicing and I wrote down my goals on paper. For each one of my goals, I wrote down the reasons why I wanted them, how many people I want to help. encourage, inspire, and so on. Things still do not come easily but I feel like living with a sense of purpose. I like the phrase said by Daisaku Ikeda: " Everyone who came into contact with him was inspired to do their very best " Thanks for your lecture on that matter.

Dear Margaret, I have been an SGI member for almost 18 years. I found the practice by “accident” and started to attend introductory meetings. Something I feel I still lack in my practice is the understanding of basic concepts. For instance what is means to fuse yourself with the Gohonzon. Once, I read a book written by a Nichiren Buddhist in which she explained the meaning. She wrote that when she chanted for a while, everything else became secondary (noise, time, etc) and that knew she became one with the Gohonzon. Honestly that has never happened to me ever. I know that when I focus on my chanting, I feel happiness and the feeling of being invincible. Does it mean that I am commuting with the Universe? I sincerely value your input and thank you for supporting our practice. 🙏❤️

Awesome video! Do you think we should write down our goals? Should we do this before, after or during chanting?
@margaretblaine53673 жыл бұрын
You can. Some people keep a list on the altar. Or you can just set an intention when you sit down to chant and then let whatever happens, happen.

A childlike faith is the answer. Getting support from the Mystic Law requires 100% surrender to the Law. And then let go and take whatever actions that come our way.

Hi Margaret, I have a question for you. I am actually struggling to find an answer to it and will be very grateful if you can guide me. Few months back I got a new job offer and I was chanting to decide if I should take up this new job or not. I got enough signs or messages while chanting to guide me to stay in my existing job and not take up the new job. However, I didn’t follow these signs and took up the new job offer. Needless to say it has been a very bad experience in this new job. I can’t wait to get out of it. I even tried going back to my old job but that has been filled now by a new person. I am now wondering how to deal with it. Was the universe guiding me for a reason? Will things never go back to normal? I am very regretful and not able to come to terms with it especially when the Gohonzon was guiding me and I didn’t follow the guidance I was getting. :-(

@Andre Leite da Silva hello, me again. I have a recent experience that might be relatable to what you are trying to achieve. A few years ago my health declined and this was a very confronting experience. I read Sensei's encouragement about health and even though it was a challenge I kept on chanting to become healthy and strong ( mainly for my happiness, as I felt sick and miserable). So through personal efforts in taking a look my own health habits I had, I made changes to my habits. Now if you're thinking that I could have done this without chanting, yes, some people might have this skill, for me however, chanting was like a lifeline and an extra charge that helped me as I was really feeling bad and no doctor was helpful. I also read, though P. Ikeda encouragement that you can pray for the health benefits of medicine or vitamins to work even more effectively than without the chanting and the beneficial properties of those medicines will work better because through chanting it is physically as well as spiritually helping your body. I also started to meet better dentists as my life was aligning to the universe. Just for the record I didn't have a timeline, but I am so much more healthy and happy than I was a few years ago when I was sick. I also aligned this determination to be able to do more kosen rufu activities as these are good for our life in the long term. I also knew that my good health would also make my parents happy as well.

@Andre Leite da Silva It's all about Faith. When people have faith and take action to fulfill their ambitions/goals/vows/prayers we acquire the wisdom to see a clear way to accomplish them or the wisdom to change our marker. We also come to understand when we sound or are idiotic. We also realize that magic wands are only found in fairy tales....
@alexism56873 жыл бұрын
@Andre Leite da Silva you can't have faith just by theorising about every detail of your experience. Faith is about placing trust in something, just like you've placed trust in you workout goals. This practice is quite simple, it's peoples thinking that makes it seem more complex than it is. No one will have the perfect answer for you, the answers are in your own life and experience which only you can have. Chanting has helped me achieve a higher state of life. That's what I have experienced, I can think better and have more focus after I have chanted and that helps me do things better. But chanting has many benefits and the philosophy is very good too.
