When I went there in 99, there was very little. Glad to see things have changed. Despite this, I have no regrets going there. I learned so much about music. Jam with anyone you can while you're there, whatever style they are.

This is great my confidence level is through the roof now. It’s so relieving to hear that metal is a big part of Berklee. I’ve been dreaming of going to Berklee since I was 16 (21 now). This definitely has given me the boost to audition without feeling sort of outcast. Thanks a lot. Your video was very amusing as well. Check out my page please. This video has answered one of the more serious questions I have about the school! I do love jazz music a lot but at the same time, I love the hardcore metal and hard rock music just as much! My audition for Berklee is coming up soon so it's good that I positively know what I'm getting myself into if I get accepted! :) I'm a drummer btw ;)

So, I'm a 17 year old high school drop out with a mad desire to improve my riff/song writing with professional help while also learning how to go about jumpstarting a musical career and whatnot. I have a couple of questions. Number one: does Berklee accept people with GEDs, or do I have to have a highschool diploma? Two: Do I have to have some kind of musical background other than the fact that I took, but never finished, a music theory class my 11th grade year, and the fact that I have been playing metal rhythm guitar for close to four years? Third: How the fuck do I go about actually getting into the school, or any college for that matter?

One more thing I was wondering what your opinion of a good piece to play for an audition would be, either a melody of songs I enjoy playing, a particular song I enjoy or my own creation? Do they expect solo's? Or what ever I feel comfotable playing. Also besides that what else should I focus strongly on for an audition? I wouldnt think tablature is acceptable. I have no experience with music notes.

I'm really torn between this and another career field, but I have pursued music for the majority of my life and I was wondering whats the average age of the attendants? And how familiar do you need to be with sheet music? And for the audition do you need to show off all techniques, chicken pickin', tapping, sweeping, alt picking etc? And of course last but not least, if I go for guitar will I be able to take composition or production classes?

This is great man thank you for the video. I'm 15 and I've been into Metal since I was 7 and I've been in love with metal/music ever since. I've been playing guitar for a year now and I like to think Im good at it but I've never had any lessons or anything. I just learn scales and songs from bands like Trivium, CoB, etc and I was nervous about going to Berklee. Do I have to know a lot about Theory before attending Berklee?

The people at Berklee are aware that not everyone will have a wide knowledge of music theory and technicalities. Heck, you might want to go there just to learn more about that stuff. Just bring what you've got and they'll know if you've got potential to be even better than what you might already be. Of course, having background knowledge wouldn't hurt, but don't stress over learning advanced theory and whatnot. It's good to know, but it shouldn't make or break you.

So here is my thing I want to go I have the voice (I've got A couple colleges at my ass) But I want to know if a vocal performance degree will help me grow as a singer as drastically as the price tag suggests Of course I can find endless products of Berklee, but never can I get a hold of a performance before they got in Seriously, all I really need is a before and after of someone But nobody has it Can I go from good, to great?

I think that's really what a lot of people wonder. In my opinion, try it out and see what the college can offer you. It's all about what you put into it and what you take from it. It'd be a good idea to go and see what it's all about and if it's not for you, then find somewhere else. I have good faith that Berklee will help you out though.
