Wow! What a roaler coaster ride this session is! Amazed to see how Acharyaji demolishes all the false notions, myths we carry in the name of spirituality. This is the basic honesty one must start with.

You have said "Tell me what is that purpose" What if the very premise of the question is unfounded. What if all purpose is just a reliance on the future? Do you know what you mean by a purpose? You mean that life is for something that will come to me tomorrow or day-after. If life has a purpose, you are unfulfilled right now. If life has a purpose, you are unfulfilled till that purpose is obtained. If life has a purpose, life is hell. Because you move through life then needing, thirsting, hungry, hollow. This is the implication of believing in a particular purpose of life. If life has a purpose, then we are struggling through life. The mind wants something to keep it happy. The more distant the purpose is, the more happy the mind is. Because if it is distant, then the mind will have a lot to do. The mind will remain occupied. The mind is like a bicycle, unless it is moving it always falls down. You live as the body. Honestly acknowledge that. You live as the body, you think as the mind, you exist as consciousness. Now where is the mystery? Just because you do not know how the engine is functioning, does not mean that the car does not belong to you. You might not know how the digestion is functioning; that does not mean that you do not identify with the body. A doubt cannot be a thing that you have been tutored into. Who am I arises, only when first of all you see that every bit of you is programmed. If everything is programmed, then, who am I? "Who am I?" arises only at level 2. The problem is that our teachers do not take us to level 1 because level 1 is the most dangerous level. Level 1 says "Honestly look at your life" and that humiliates us. So they take us to level 2. They say parrot the question "Who am I" First of all, you must look at your life and see how dilapidated and depraved the life is. You must see how you just get angry when the results of anger are all well established. You know this would make you angry, and it still succeeds in making you angry. Only when there is total dissatisfaction with the inherent bondage in our lives, can one ask the question "Who am I?" The role of the genuine teacher, is to first take you to your life. And that stage, is the most important, the most fundamental, and the most real stage. If that real stage is passed honestly through, then "Who am I?" is not important. First of all, you must say "I am Martha, I am Parvati, I am a mother, I am a daughter, I am a employee, I am a German, I am Shiva, I am a male, I am dissatisfied. I want this, I want that. Go into the facts of your being. And when you see that those are a murky total, contradicting each other, fighting each other, unsettled. Then you say, "This I cannot be!" And if this you cannot be, then "Who am I?" In the negation of what you take yourself to be, "Who am I?" has already been answered. "Who am I?" is the power that negates. When you say "Ko hum?" which is "Who am I?" it has to be proceeded by "Na-hum" I am not. "I am not" has not happened, yet "Who am I?" is being asked. This is very, very dishonest. First of all, begin with "I am X" "Who am I?" is only to be asked when you are free of identities, when you do not know who you are. Understanding is a fire that must burn down your life. The teacher is acceptable only as long as the teacher is pleasant. The moment the teacher starts doing what his real duty is, he becomes unpleasant. You don't like him. Because now he is honestly asking you to look into the facts of your life. Not go into some dream land. That which you are in the front of the bull is what you are. That which you are when you coffee is delayed is what you are. That which you are when your laundry is stained is what you are. That which you are when your girlfriend ditches you is what you are. That which you are when you suffer a particular loss or get a handsome gain is what you are. That which you are when you come across an opposing view is what you are. Look at everything honestly, and this honesty burns down the whole story. The empty space is then what you probably are. But that empty space probably comes with a price. Spirituality is not some other world. Spirituality is how you live here. Do you live in fear? Examine your life. Do you live in doubt, examine your life. How you are sitting. You are how you are sitting here. Most of us our are little petty egos. Acknowledge that. Patterns only have momentom of the past. Fresh energy is supplied to them by your attachment. If you do not touch the patterns, if you do not supply them with more energy of identification, slowly they will fade away. At the center, at your center, is something that is instantaneous, timeless, so there whatever happens, happens right now.
