Is this 14 year old laptop worth saving? It's got ISSUES... (Toshiba Portege R700)

It's a lot thinner than my "thin and light" 2004 Dell 600M was haha. The Toshiba is a bit older than my Lenovo X220. Mine has had RAM and drive upgrades. Repairing Windows is a minefield. You need a recovery boot disk or USB and a system image to get it back like it was when the image was made. A repair without the image sometimes fixes the OS and leaves settings and programs alone, generally, but it's not guaranteed. I fought my old system for two days and finally got a repair to work. I may have not used the right cuss words in the beginning. It was my second crash in 4-5 days because of moving drives around. I had just done a clean install, the first one in 11 years, from Win 8 - 10 - 11 without a format. I'm leaving it alone, now LOL

Just about to watch this, I have a Compaq pressario 56 250SA that cost me £30, I put Linux on it, a SSD & a bit more ram. I use it to watch KZbin etc & it's great. Be interesting to see how you get on & thanks for the videos

I did that with a Thinkpad and it runs Mint like a scalded dog.

Windows 10 On 1st Gen Core I Series Is Overkill Is Usable But due To Running To Much App And Services In Backgroud Fan Ramps Up And Down Continnuously Even InstallIng A App Or Watching KZbin And In Idle You Still Hearing Fan Noise (In 600 RPM) (I have a Dell Vostro 3300 which has an Intel Core I3 350M 6GB Ram And 240GB Crucial SSD)
