to do the thumbnail level you'll need to re-press the jump button midair because that makes you "floatier" for some reason. other than that, remember that spike hitboxes are more lenient in this game as opposed to mario maker 2 so you have more wiggle room--you could definitely start moving right a little bit earlier

i do know that its possible to jump low enough to not hit your head on spikes in a 2 block high corridor in mm2 by buffering a jump when landing, but im not too sure if it works like that in mm1. if you could, you could hold right into the spike gap when twirl while already *in* the gap which may barely work?
