o god I was using this kind of cheap lock picking tools to help my university dorms to open the doors of the rooms of tenants who accidentally lock themselves out with relatively success. But after 2 years they slowly broke and snap. I guess I can finally graduate that set and get a good set for some part time lock picking work.

Locksport is a great hobby, and although that "pick" set is almost complete rubbish, the review was spot on! My word, those shafts get in their own way. I seriously doubt that key extractor would function at all with that profile. The set appears to be a very poor copy of a poor copy of a cheap set. Not inexpensive, cheap! A properly made wire style tension wrench can be nice, especially if the flattened end tapers a small amount. It can help it fit snugly, especially for security pins. A certain amount of flex in the other tools might help keep tension on the aforementioned security pins if the fit isn't snug. Maybe. The locksport community is known for gifting items to beginners and friends, but this set would be a last resort gift, and possibly with profuse apologies! Thanks for the entertainment! The Sparrows Mace pick sets opened a lot of locks for me when I was starting out, and they are much easier to EDC in a pinch.

I have this set and an CI Echelon, Genesis, Sparrow and southord. Funny thing. I have beter luck with the cheap Amazon set. I've picked a master D3, M5, brinks and a master 570 with them. Weird huh. Mine was $20.99
@mr.s19614 ай бұрын
The best picks are from people like JL who makes them in small batches and all the hacker world are after them (why it's always sold out). Other notable people I could name but won't. The companies you named are mass-produced in a factory and not the best.

@mushroomgirl7444 Awesome! Glad I could help. By the way, if you want an easy lock to practice on, I always recommend the Master Lock 141D padlock: www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-Padlock-Aluminum-141DLF/dp/B000EUHCHU/ It's a great starter lock because it has a nice wide keyway, 4 non-security pins, and it's fully metal. You can rake it open using one of the rake picks included in the Genesis Set, or single pin pick it using one of the hook picks.

@@Tib3riusAre there any semi-decent lock picking sets on amazon? I just want to get a beginner set that can get me started
@Tib3rius3 ай бұрын
@@sirrudy1233 none of the semi-decent manufacturers sell on Amazon, and if you're starting out you don't need many picks, so buying from a legitimate lockpick manufacturer is going to be relatively inexpensive. If you let me know your budget and what country you're in, I can give you a recommendation.

@3:35 LOL imagine not knowing what a CC lockpick set looks like but creating a video about lockpicking... LOL. I had one of those CC sets back in 2005 or earlier. Guess I should make videos as I have experience

Maybe watch the entire video before making a rude comment. I never said I didn't know what it was, I said I didn't know what the point of it was, because the picks are so small they are practically useless. A fold-able set would be more useful if you want something for your wallet.
@johncooper988719 күн бұрын
Yeah, you probably know as much if not more than this guy. The reason the tension wrench doesn't fit in the top of the keyway is because it's a bottom of keyway wrench, the dimple pick isn't a bypass tool, there's so much wrong from this 'expert' it be a waste of time debunking it.If you want a good laugh go to lock picking legend, he punks guys like him and it's a riot 😂
@Tib3rius19 күн бұрын
@@johncooper9887 At no point in the video do I try to fit the wrench into the top of the keyway. If that is supposed to be a dimple pick, it's the weirdest dimple pick I've ever seen. I have a very nice dimple pick set from MultiPick, all the flags in that are curved, which is ideal, and the shafts are round rather that flat, again which is ideal. Maybe actually study up on things before making uninformed comments on videos?

Bought the same exact pick set. Locks are trash, all 3. The pick handles are bendy. I used a real lock to practice and once I got that one opened a bunch I moved to another lock but the 2nd lock was way to tight for the picks as shown by the 35 thousandths of an inch picks. Don’t recommend that stuff even for a beginner. You can buy better set for same price but comes with less and better quality
@Tib3rius3 ай бұрын
Yup! Fully agreed. I think a lot of people think quantity of picks is important and for beginners it's really not. The Genesis set has only 4 picks but those 4 can get you really far into lockpicking before you would even consider buying more picks.

They are ok for first time pickers get to learn picking but as you learn find need better ones ,trouble is it depends on what locks you want to pick so many different types different keyways do your home work watch few reviews decide on types off locks want to practice on find right tool for the job might only need few picks but need tension wrenches also so watch few videos and learn ,but will not suggest go buy top off the range set for a beginner wont help you open locks easier it comes with practice and patience.

@Tib3rius19 күн бұрын
Right, and so did I, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged. For $25 (and less) you can get quality beginner sets which will last longer and won't teach bad techniques. I just don't see the need to support the Chinese manufacturers anymore when there are affordable alternatives (like JimyLongs especially).
