Don’t fall for the trap of being told what to love. Being *told* who is the best. I’ve watched their games with my OWN TWO EYES, and I can truly say: no other team has had more favorable calls from the refs. (The kadarius toney offsides was to prove a glowing example of “hey look fans, the chiefs get penalties in big moments too sometimes.”) The NFL knows that what the media did with Tom Brady created a huge void that apparently must be filled with 24/7 chiefs and mahomes hype. For those who call me a hater, you must still believe in Santa Claus. Also, Kyle Brandt’s take is that of someone who has sold their soul to the sports media conglomerate. Greed ruined sports, but stupid people will still watch because they just want to see Taylor swift. All of the sports media are bootlickers for the highest “bidder.”

As a Chiefs fan, this was a frustrating year, not because the offense struggled, but because so many Chiefs were ready to start firing people and getting rid of guys. I wish those folks would just skip the game. They don't deserve to root for KC now. Mahomes is the ultimate chess piece, but Reid and Spags are why this team is ready for playoff football every year. I do think Veach and Reid got a little too aggressive with their beleife that Mahomes could put up numbers with anyone. But I thought Toney was a good bet to replace JuJu's production. It didn't pay off, and they ended up without a guy they could count on. I add Fortson to another guy they thought they had that would have made the multiple TE sets even better. So instead of whining like Bama fans that think you have to blow out every team, every year, I got back to enjoying the process. They had some weaknesses, but there is not a better NFL head coach at adapting to what they have versus what they want to be. Do I take it for granted? When I was a kid, I heard the name Johnny Unitas all the time, but never saw him play because he was before my time. But I dreamed of having a QB that would strike fear into teams no matter what. I was a football Cardinal fan until moving to KC and Schottenheimer showed up. And I watched as they tried and tried to find a QB. In my mind, the only real difference between Reid and Schottenheimer is Pat Mahomes. It took 40 years before I got to root for a Unitas level QB for my team. This is the luckiest time in my life for being a football fan. But at the same time, I absolutely loved the Marty days. I knew they were second tier, and all I saw was how hard it was to get to the next level. But the process is what I enjoy.

Six conference championships and four Super Bowl appearances with at least two rings isn't Patriots level but in another 6 or 8 years we'll see. It's close to 1980s 49ers level, at least (though the 49ers went 4-0 in the Super Bowl). You have to think about QBs like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Brett Favre. All easy Hall of Famers. But they each only won one Super Bowl. Which is a lot more than zero. But Mahomes has already passed them.

Beyond simply taking it for granted, I think a lot of people are vehemently opposed to the idea that this is one of the best runs of success we've ever seen any team, coach, and players go on despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, and they constantly find ways to nitpick, belittle, and abhor the data, the team, and the fans. If you think otherwise, go on some KZbin comment sections on videos of any national media outlet-any of ESPN's sports talk shows, Undisputed, First Things First, etc.-discussing the Chiefs' recent history.
