I confirm this is a harpsichord! Some of the registers might sound guitar like to you. But.... Welcome to french baroque music! I'd suggest listening to "Les Cyclopes" by Rameau.

It is indeed a harpsichord. The reason why you thought it might be a guitar is because harpsichords don't hit strings like modern pianos do, they pluck them, just like you would a guitar. So even though they both use keyboards the sound production is very different.

In fact, harpsichords, aside from being a keyboard instrument, is considered a stringed instrument, while a piano (also keyboard) is considered a percussion instrument.

This is one of my favorite harpsicord pieces! SO much emotion!! I take this as the ebb and flow of a chase scene on horses through small French towns in the 1740s. The back and forth of the riders, one on a run for his freedom, life and his one true love. The other with a conviction to his duty to the law, to himself and most importantly to him, God. They ride in the rain, ducking and hiding in trees or buildings as lightning tears the sky and thunder shakes your soul. The end is what you feel it to be. Absolutely wonderful! If you want something slower (and haven't already) my I suggest Brahms Symphony 3 Poco Allegretto. I get carried away on the melody!

Yes! Finally! :D It's harpichord. I wachted video where player plays this piece. Mabye sound excentric, but in same time totaly baroque. Imagine this on electric guitar.

love that you reviewed this! i've been addicted to this and marche des scythes for a while now... did i recommend this one? i feel like i might have... XD... i'm all about this piece and Alkan's op 39, part 8 in particular, but the whole thing is fantastic, especially when performed by Marc-Andre Hamelin. I'm going to be seeing him play live next week!

You can see Jean Rondeau play this piece on the château d'Assas harpsichord, "Scott Ross' harpsichord", on you tube.

THAT'S how I discovered this piece. Just popped up on my feed. (Probably since I tend to like a lot of harpsichord music). Jearn Rondeau is SO great!

Classical music that is crazy, Étienne Nicholas Méhul's ouverture to Uthal. I am a pro historical musician, believe me on this one. It is so dope.

Yep, Harpsichord. People got pretty wild on it. If you ever get a chance, take a listen to Bach's Concerto for FOUR Harpsichords. People have no idea that you can get sounds like THIS (what you just heard) from a Harpsichord. (People expect genteel, clangy music, but this . . . it's something else. 😃) I wonder if this could be played on an electric guitar? Or a few? I'd love to hear it.

When feeling more risky in the future with contemporary music, a piece I would suggest is Oren Boneh's "Sprout". It just popped into my mind while listening to this because of some similiar sections. It's a banger but maybe a bit too much currently. Thank's for the content tho!

Can't believe that, on another video, someone said they couldn't get into Baroque music since it was "dry and antiseptic." I don't think they've listened to the right pieces. 😆

I just discovered. It’s like metal punk But many musicians in the past ( like Rachmaninov; or Scriabin) already invented everything in terms of alternative music genre, I think. But it’s Less media coverage shamely
