I dont see anything wrong here. He even said that he got inspired by wizkid. Music is an international language. This is the perfect way to end racism and start showing a new cultural world to foreigners. This is important and still people get offended by this FOR NO REASON. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong here just because you're being too proud.

@@esbaoyeleke3539 bro..... Songs are being sampled and used for AGES. NO ONE GIVES CREDITS. I can name you 100 songs where other songs were being sampled or copied without giving credits.. ITS NORMAL. This has nothing to do with disrespect. People just love to make drama out of everything. Literally everyone can hear the afro beat out of the song bolo. This song is a very good way to show other cultures since there are a lot of racist people in Korea. You know the song "wild thoughts" from Rihanna and dj Khaled?? Most people literally can hear that the original is from the song "Maria"... you can literally hear the Spanish tunes. Even though America is racist towards Spanish/Latin people "wild thoughts" is being enjoyed because this is a song where everyone can get a glimpse of the Latino culture. You don't need to mention that it's Latino because you can hear it. Literally people use tunes from other cultures for years and no one makes drama out of it but then there are some Americans who think that it is culture appropriate.... dude... music is an international language to connect people. We want to end racism but yall make it hard for people since you're making drama out of everything "he can't use this song because it's afro"... wth just be silent please and enjoy the music

Unpopular opinion people won't like: black people (especially African Americans) call almost everything that represents our culture done by other races cultural appropriation (speaking as an African American and someone who grew up in the Caribbean) Unless it was plainly amd obviously disrespectful with ill intention, people should be able to explore other cultures and enjoy it freely and participate if they like.

Especially with hiphop music, i dont know how its suddenly become "if you love hip hop ether as music or the culture, then you need to know Everything about everything around it through out its history, other wise its appropriating it." 🤔 This usually happen over the internet, but these days thats basically the vibe i get. I follow many Asian, especially Korean dance studios and whenever they release a hiphop choreo, to a hiphop song, youll always see ppl at the comment section saying stuff like "here you go again, takin this and that from something we/someone else originally created". And im not saying only black people say about this, these days these comments comes from anyone. Dance and music is a form of art, so how exactly are you suppost to appreciate or to get to know it if youre not allowed to explore and express it? A lot of these "walls" of CA, misogyni, rasics ect. would be at least lowered if we would start to spread our cultures to everyone. Im not just talking about different parts of culture that originated from the black community, i used hip hip music as an example because it fit the contex, but different cultures from different countrys. I dont think our "cultural heritage" should be something we need to hold on to with everything we got, i think it would made a progress of some kind if we learned to enjoy and appreciate them together..🤔

I really enjoy listening to Nigerian music and khiphop. PENOMECO is one of my favourite khh artists and I was so surprised to see him make an afrobeats song. 🙃 Personally, I love it. You can see he did his research and he used quite a few different dialects in both Bolo and Shy. I think it’s really cool. At the end of the day. It’s up to people themselves to decide, but he’s clearly not “stealing anyone’s culture” like I’ve seen some dumbasses on tiktok saying. Like, he’s using the bloody language for goodness sake. I saw someone saying he was CA’ing by using an “African accent” in some parts of the song and I kinda sat there like…. Um… that parts in a pidgin language but mkay.

I don’t think I agree with that. This type of genre and especially African artists are really popular here in Europe. @@olabodeolaleye7934 first off, country music was created by black Americans. Secondly, hip-hop and rap became as big as they were due to the controversial nature of the music e.g NWA with their f the police lyrics. Also, I never said they couldn't do Afrobeats but I said they should wait for us to rock our own music and get recognition for our art e.g Elvis Presley is a best selling artiste because of rock and roll which was created by black ppl ( his manager said he wanted a white man with a negro sound) yet how many black rock and roll artists sold as much as him? People are also saying Afrobeats is "experimental hip-hop" which is not what it is. If it doesn't make you angry then I don't know again? Honestly I didn't know that you can culture appropriate genre ...it's like saying that other countries can't make hip hop music because it was originally made by African American ...but if people are saying it's the lyrics, than it isn't culture appropriation ...and using lyrics from another song has never been a problem when artists like drake, Chris brown etc have done it sooooooo why is it a problem when somebody else does it 🤔

Penomeco is actually a student of music which is why i dont think this is CA. this song was done so well. I think it becomes appropriation when people don't know the history behind the music and just recreate/ regurgitate a genre for personal gain.

AA’s and africans are the same to me because when they look at us they see one thing which is our skin. AA are also african and it is part of their culture. To me it more of the problem of experience . For example when u are in africa or nigeria for me i am not black but the moment u go out u are. And majority of asians don’t seem all that open to us like imagine if an afropop artiste sang kpop . Just imagine how netizens will come for our necks. So they get to gatekeep but we shouldn’t why.? I am all about new things and appreciation but not when it is not going to go both ways.. love from🇳🇬....... And the song is a bop tho

I think people need to see “cultural appropriation” more than the colour of skin. Africa has a lot of cultures that the west like to utilise in their in their music but the west will still talk smack about us in Africa. If you’re black and from the west and still disrespectful-you’re still choosing aspects that suits you and that will make you succeed. That’s my unpopular opinion

The lyrics used in wizkids video have been used in so many ways because they're basic phrases in nigerian songs. It's like saying Justin beiber copied Chris brown's lyrics cause they use baby or a basic phrase. I do understand some criticisms like Korea's continued disrespect of black people and culture while not recognizing or giving credit for our influence but I genuinely don't see this as a problematic appropriation of afrobeats.

Ngl America is way too sensitive about meaningless things. Everyone outside of America have no problem. Most people literally from Africa have no problem with most of the things we b*tch about unless it was just plain offensive, but if they see someone wear their traditional clothing or hear their music being played by another they are absolutely happy that someone else is participating in their culture. Only America has a problem with it.

@@jessidiary4884 the flow and entire delivery of the English words in the song had a forced accent. no offense, but it's unfair to talk about the "forced accent" if you don't speak korean and don't know how a native korean speaker sounds when they're trying to speak a different language. The issue is taking offense based off of what we experience in the US. Idk where you're from, but if you're from the US, maybe be a little more open minded and don't just jump to the conclusion that someone is mocking something if it doesn't sound right to you. Granted we have had to deal with that a lot in the US, it might not be the same in this situation. Perspective and context is everything.

@@hanniefaerie2984 I also think that your comment about the community holds very true to the opposite effect. I've only seen anger with this song from african americans, rather than nigerians. And I've also seen african americans call nigerians out on twitter calling them racial names for thinking that this is ok. There's a lot of intolerance in a portion of the group, and a great deal of respect and understanding as well. So this isn't like it's all black and white. Who in the community gets to say this is ok or not? And who's opinions are wrong? When the community so to speak is split, who speaks for the community? Too messy tbh. Everyone should just be able to voice their own opinions without the worry of offending the angry crowd, especially if they're a part of the community. Just my opinion.
