Kobyz is an ancient tool of the peoples who lived in the East, including nomads. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many peoples, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre.

The ancient time and the present united. The East and the West united. Given by the oriental melismas and the exquisite harmony of the kobyz and contemporary instruments.Your voice, my voice, the voices of Humanity singing our love and our pain vibrating in Dimash's voice that unites in himself all our voices ... what he has achieved in this song is a beautiful symbol of unity. What a deeply moving message

GREAT review again. Just the way he walks to the front of the stage! Like a panther. I've never seen a singer so fully in character as Dimash. Interesting, is that even in his low base voice, I still here it resonating also at the top of his head too...I know DImash sees some of these videos....I REALLY HOPE HE GETS TO SEE YOURS!! So expertly, exceptionally done!! You're the only one who noted the 1/2 step key change!!

@@alariepoet8015 Lol :). Yes yes your description is wonderful...as a former competitive and professional ice skater I notice people who feel movement rather than just perform choreography. Dimash sometimes moves like a powerful cat, and in this case I thought wow, a cool Panther is moving thru the jungle....very sultry....moving stealthily forward, ready to spring at any moment, tension held back, foreboding, graceful, poetic, beautiful, yet wonderfully terrible :) :).

The fact that Dimash then kneels is not a factor in altering the vocal quality, I also noticed it and it is visible in all his songs in which he has such a movement! I will mention just a few Adagio, Show Must Go On (both in The Singer 2017 show), Daybreak (Bastau 2017), Your Love (Kremlin 2020), Stranger (New Wave Soci 2021) and many more! If it had to be proven, it is an almost inhumanly good breath control!

It is completely out of the ordinary how Dimash Qudaibergen manages to convey extremely different emotions by singing almost exactly the same lyrics but using a different dynamic, a different key, a different timbre and different sound production techniques! He begins with the shyness and doubt of a stranger who enters a territory totally foreign to him (when he plays the piano and with sounds surrounded by breath), moves on to the desire to try his strength to achieve a new beginning in life (then when he achieves that magnificent passage through the whole spectrum of his vocal rank using very different techniques of singing on each register) and reaches the end to have the power of the winning hero who not only tried, not only fought but finally defeated (when he shows us the power of his belting and that high and super long note of 20 seconds)! I only scored 3 moments, but they were more because between the choruses there were 2 slightly different moments of storytelling, but both in its register below the bass-baritone and there was another chorus (in total there were 5 choruses and two slightly more parts of the story, all in different dynamics, different keys and very different vocal techniques performed impeccably from a technical point of view, but also with strong emotional effects in the sense of impressive and maximum effect on the audience that practically listened to the whole song almost hypnotized)! For me it was the perfect song of the moment and it was a sublime demonstration of how much Dimash Qudaibergen can still progress even though it is already far beyond his contemporaries !

Hallo Alina, Vielen Dank!

Nobody on the Planet like Dimash. A wonderful performance by all, and, yes, love that haunting sound of that ancient instument; the Kobyz, so masterfully played. Can anyone tell us if this is the remote 'ancestor' of todays; Cello's, Violin's?

Stranger is about a nomad looking for a new place to settle , the sound of kobyz depicts the outdoor elements, the marching rhythm as they walk/ march to find the land and at the end of the song you’ll hear a sword drawn so with that story line the nomads encounter some enemies and that they have to fight. What amazes me is. not just Dimash vocal acrobatic capabilities but bunch of his song like Daididau and Samaltau, Ikenaide or Autumn strong this are just the few that the story is just powerful and Dimash delivers it with precision and perfection. The performance is impeccable his whole body engages with the song and float with it , he always tells us a story and what a story he’s telling us and we all believe with it. Great reaction by the way.

This is definitely his best one next to Olimpico. I especially liked the yodels he did right before the melismatic part. Also, Diana Ankudinova's new performance is up. It's a cover of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love" and it shows off the work she has been doing on her head voice. We all know her as the contralto's contralto with expert yodels and absurd harmonics. You still get the harmonics, but you get to see her new full head voice and mixed belt.

You do such a terrific job of breaking the song down and generously sharing with us your thoughts about what is occurring during the phrases/sequences. It is rare indeed to see a reactor put so much time and effort into a reaction - and as a dedicated Dear, I appreciate it *so* much! Thank you, thank you.

First of all I like that you know the instrument Kobyz. The sound is magical. There is so much to learn from your reactions. Your explaining is so enjoyable, I love it. As far as I can see you didn’t react to „Ave Maria“yet? Oh, you‘ll have an early Christmas present! „Stranger“ is only one of two masterpieces Igor Krutoy composed for Dimash recently. Ave Maria wird Dich aus den Socken hauen….it will blow you away! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪.

I have had a hard time enjoying music. I have what they call racing thoughts. My mind can’t focus on any thing very long because they’re are a dozen other thoughts going on. Di ash is the only music I have ever loved. I am mesmerised by him. I see and feel his passion Only beauty and passion are in my mind and and heart. It is tiring but wonderful.I know his beloved country is being torn apart by the war,and some of his songs are about that. I can only say Thank you to him,but even more to God for gifting him to us.
